Gelato Indoor Soil

I start mine from germinated seed directly in 25 gallon no-till fabric pots.
Never had a problem.

Do you think 3 gallons are too small for indoor? My buddy is saying I should go up to 7 gallons. 25 seems enormous!!! I like your little ecosystem around it. Do you feel like it helps the soil?

Well, you're asking if 3 gallons is too small to a guy that thinks 25 gallons is just barely big enough.
So, yeah to me 3 gallon is way to small even if you're bottle feeding IMO.
It's not that you cant use 3 gallon pots, the question is why. It just makes the grow harder for no real reason unless you are growing in an extremely small space.
Also, to me if you feed your plants from a bottle I think you're better served by using well aerated coco.
7 gallons is just fine for coco.

If you use soil then I think it's just better to let the soil do all the work and not try to phuck it all up by adding salt based nutrients into the mix.
Go with a 10+ gallon fabric pot with 1/3rd of it on the bottom a rich super soil and top 2/3rds a good Clackamas Coots soil recipe.
Or better still go with a 15 gallon minimum fabric pot with a Clackamas Coots soil recipe with a living mulch of nitrogen fixers and a couple hundred worms.
And yes, if you're doing a Living Organic Soil no-till then the living mulch is extremely beneficial to the soil.

So I'm definitely slacking on my journal again. I've been pretty busy lately.

Week 4 Status update:

1. Only 3 of 8 germinated seeds survived. (Pretty bummed about that). I had 100% seedling rate with the widow. (only difference was 1. I up-potted. 2. I used fresh soil. 3. I didnt have old roots in it from the last plants)
2. Two of the 3 are doing great!
3. The short one (runt) is pretty pushy but I'm thinking I may want to start some early defoliation. The top branches are blocking a lot of new nodes.

I think I'm going to up-pot to 7 gallons since I have so much space. I'm also going to add a lot of new fresh soil.

My smallest plant looks to have some upwards wilting on the leaves and a little droopy.

I know my tent is getting too hot. It's really hard for me to keep it at 70 during the summer. I might be drifting to 90-95 deg F at some points during the day.

I dont think I've been overwartering either.

They look pretty good.
If you're going to up pot then I'd do it sooner than later because you dont want the roots growing into the pot anymore than they already are.

And 90+ is way too hot.
You need to use a red neck AC or something to bring that on down to like 81 or so.

I agree 90+ is way too hot. I have my main AC running into the tent. I think the problem is the surrounding temperature. I think I need to build an insulated shell around the tent. When I go in the tent it feels cool, but my thermostat reads high sometimes.

I've been considering it. I'm still scared of hurting my girls. lol. I think I might try topping the shorter bushy one? I need to decide soon huh? My nutrient feed schedule says I should switch to 12/12 next week. I'm kinda feeling like I should veg for a few more weeks though. What are your guys thoughts?

Oh and I up potted to 7 gallons and added fresh soil! They seem to be really liking the extra space.

Yeah looks like you have lots of room to veg a bit longer, it’s ultimately up to you though! :thumb:

Yeah it can be a lil scary when you’ve never topped before. If your up for it, just do one plant like you said. It has great benefits and once you get the nervous shakes out of the way you will do it without even thinking next time. Instead of having one main cola you can train it to have 16+ main colas. :thumb:

Well I suppose I'm long over due for an update. The girls are doing amazing! Just switched to 600W HPS and 12/12 yesterday. Started Flowering nutrients as well.

Apparently I'm really bad at grow journals. It's been 1.5 months since my last post. Loving these Gelatos. I wish I had space to clone the biggest one.

I'll post a few from mid August and then beginning of September, and finally current. They are currently in week 11 of flowering. One more week of flowering and then I'm flushing for a week before harvest.

Day 102 - Last night of nutes. I've been feeding 4 times a week for 2 weeks now. I'm either going to harvest tomorrow night or Saturday night. The branches are starting to fall over on the one in the corner. I dont think I can get to it, so I'm going to leave them since it's only 2 days left.
