Journey in the Great Unknown, or MountainHigh's LST adventure.

You can add it next time you mix some soil up for transplants or whatever...it will actually help stabilize the pH of the soil and make keeping your pH constant easier. Just follow the instructions on the bag, I can't remember how much exactly as I messed up and bought hydrated lime (so very potent lol) but I know there's been some threads about it here on the forums. If you do a search you should turn up what you need pretty quick, wish I could remember!

Yo Mountain....all this talk about pH makes me ask the question. Have you (or anybody out) ever used dolomitic Lime on your plants? If so, how and in what manner did you use it? I bought some at the co-op the other day and figured if the pH got a little low I could put some on the plants and it would raise it up, but I'm not sure how much to add. Any help would be appreciated. By the way, when we flushed our plants today, the runoff was running 6.31. I guess that is ok.

There wasn't any dolomite lime at my local nursery or I would have some, it is supposed to be mixed in your soil as a soil buffer. Not sure of the ratio or if you can top dress with it. Sorry bro, just don't know.

And 6.3 is good if you flushed with 6.5, a bit low if you flushed with 7.0. Take the difference and it is that much again low generally, at least the way I figure it. So if you flushed with 7.0 your soil could of been as low as 5.6, not terribad but getting close to locking out nitrogen or any number of micronutes. If you flushed with 6.5 then it was just 6.1 and that is good.

At least by my figuring...:grinjoint:

I ended up clipping Tess's undergrowth as I found another almost open ballsack. Tess needs ph adjusted more I think but can't til her feet dry more, she is spitting little spots of mg def on the bad leaves and maybe a few more elsewhere or I didn't notice them before, but not horrible.

I can't wait til these hermi creatures are DEAD! At least Lilbit just stopped throwing them, these two don't seem to wanna. I think they are jealous of Lilbit and just want to &*#@ her. :smokin: My room is gonna need scoured...bleach water after a thorough vacuum, wipe down?

Hurry my new babies, grow big and fast and then...I have to clone...It will be awhile...SIGH. :roorrip: Ahh, I feel better. :grinjoint:

Mountain....we actually flushed with 5.9 water, so I guess the soil pH must have been a tad higher than 6.3. So you can just top dress the lime huh?

I am not sure man, it is slow release with moisture I think, so it actually has to be in the soil it is buffering I would think to be really effective but it might work as a top dressing, I would ask grow support, I didn't see anything in the FAQ about top dressing with dolomite nor about cleaning your room from pollen.

Those damn colored greenhouse seeds again. :smokin::smokin:
There is just something wrong with that color cover they put on them. I know you've heard this from me before, but really don't like them. Planted 10 all popped up easily, all but two died the next day. The two that lived had to go to the intensive care ward to survive. :smokin::smokin::smokin::smokin:

Yeah never seen a seed do what those do from any bagseed I have ever germed. My provider got some seeds from a trade deal and they did the same thing too. They always just take off, this was a perfectly healthy fat little tail came out and stalled...I will never buy those coated seeds again. But I didn't buy this one so :grinjoint:, would hate to lose that strain as I hear a lot of good things about "The Church".

Aloha OMM

greenhouse seeds colour different types and put a anti fungicidal coating on them , something is wrong with the coating and the seedlings are not doing good or dying!

Thanks crazy horse! So it was done for good reason, but turned out bad in the end! Sometimes better to stay with what works.

the grow bible says"...When purchasing, look for dolomite flour, the finest fast-acting dust-like grade available. Coarse dolomite could take a year or more before it becomes available for uptake by roots. Mix dolomite flour throughly with the growing medium before planting. Improperly mixed, dolomite will stratify, forming a cake or layer that burns roots and repels water."
as far as the amount goes, all I could find was in outdoor soil so I'd read the directions... however, with an asterik as a footnote is says...
"...* rule of thumb: add 1-2 pounds (0.5-0.9 kg) of dolomite lime to each cubic foot (0.03 cm3) of soil..."

also it says water deactivates pollen, so just cleaning the grow area with a damp cloth should work, maybe with some mild detergent or whatever... it suggests using an air filter over your incoming air to avoid contamination from rogue pollen outside your grow area..

i doubt greenhouse seeds will have this problem for much longer, their company will fold if they dont sort it out!

I do not wish any company ill, I think if this is a real problem and it does seem like one to me, they should look into it and fix it. I liked the way my other seedling took off, like a seed I have dealt with before, you know germ in 24-48, give them 12 hrs to get the wiggler a little length before burying it tail down in soil. The colored seed's tail came out big and white and in that same 12 hr period hadn't hardly grown at all, I immediately pealed that crap off and planted it. Hoping it will taste the soil and leave that bad juju in the past. If I had the confidence I would of peeled that polluted shell off but it wasn't loose enough yet.

I hope you can figure things out MH... I wish you the best my friend!!

Any bud porn for us!!!!! LOL

Haha, I could repost some old pics :smokin:. I think I will have access to a camera on a permanent basis shortly. I am happy :grinjoint:. (Will explain when I post pics ;))

Someone please explain to me what 'colored seeds' are? Why? What purpose and Who? Thanks, I must have been sleeping for 20 years as I seem to miss everything!.lol:cool:

Thanks crazy horse, yeah it was on one of my freebie seeds so it is what it is, if the seedling fails I will pick something else to grow. I have more left and I am excited about them all. I was prepared for some seeds failing.

Yeah, we knew it could be used in the soil and I still need to get some for future grows, but the thing is, the guy that asked already has his plant growing and adding to soil is impossible, he was wondering if you could top dress the soil with it and water through it for effect.

And wow that seems like alot of lime, I am assuming it isn't strong like hydrated lime, haha that much hydrated lime and you will be able to use the soil for an alkaline battery...:grinjoint: Thanks for looking for us.

Yeah Aberration shared that with me, I just couldn't find that in the Grow FAQ, I didn't read the whole FAQ and I know I should, but I am lazy, I am sure I will get it all read someday. :smokin:

I bought some GH White Rhino a while back. The bank I ordered them from only had the 5 pack of feminised seeds not the 10 pack. They had the color coating too.

Bottom line... all 5 popped, all 5 were female. Ended up with 5 excellent mothers. No problems with color coating. Still have some GWS beans I haven't touched yet though.

Great grow, btw, MountainHigh. I'm also a CO local. Keep up the good work.
