100% sativa any tips?

Durban Poison is supposed to be 100% sativa. I’ve never grown them but from what I can find, flowering is anywhere from 7-10 weeks.
I have Durban Poison seeds in the freezer; I haven't grown it yet but I have researched it. Genuine Durban Poison is 100% sativa and takes 14 - 16 weeks for flowering. I think what you're referring to is probably a hybrid sold as Durban Poison. Unfortunately, this incorrect labeling seems to be too common these days.

Now I plan to Quadline my Malawi grow. So can I veg her say 6 weeks and be safe in a 5x5x6 tent. It might be sharing space with a couple other plants, but I would have them growing a few weeks ahead of time. What I’m really hoping is for my sister to have all her garden plants outside in her actual garden. If that’s the case. . . . . I want to grow a monster :morenutes:

This is one of the question I'm also asking myself

Durban is kinda what I specialise in growing and breeding. I have stock I untainted from the 50's which I breed with and preserve. There are indeed a couple phenos that are done in 9 weeks, maybe 10. That's the earliest I have ever come across in 20+ years of growing them. Then the others take from 10 to 14 weeks +. Spicy pheno 9 weeksish and the mango lemon pheno is longer. I don't come across the aniseed often which is fine as it's my least favourite. But year 99% of Durban is tainted unfortunately.

Hi Lerugged. I'm curious about your comment "stock I untainted". Am I correct in assuming the 50's Durban Poison you grew was not 100% sativa but rather a hybrid containing indica? And was the untainting done through selective breeding or by other means? I've been buying sativas with the intention of trying to get back to landrace purity through selective breeding. The Malawi Gold I'm presently growing is my first attempt. In 2017 I grew 14 MG seeds that were supposed to be MG. I thought pure sativa but only 1 was sativa dominant. I back bred her with her son and am growing the seeds from that grow now. I'm hopeful that I'm on the right track because the 5 female MGs growing now are seemingly identical to one an other and to their mother, all sativa dominant. I'm thinking it's impossible to totally remove indica genes and return to 100% sativa.

If you have time to check out the Malawi grow journals in my signature I would like to hear your comments and suggestions. I think I'm on the right track but getting feedback is always good.

Good luck on your grow. My last grow had some haze x colombian that finished at about 100 days @ 10/14. I used fox farms soil and top dressed dry ferts in small amounts throughout flower. I also transplanted one of the plants from a 1 gallon to a 5 gallon at week 3 after flip and it responded well. I also like to top and train to keep them lower, quadlining.
I'm going in the opposite direction for the next flower cycle. I'm trying 13on 11off to see what happens. Tom Hill says it will increase quality and production.

oh btw... the durban that has been in circulation through the dutch seed scene was a unique EARLY line that Ed Rosenthal gave to Mel Frank who then gave to SkunkmanSam who then bred it and also crossed it to his skunk and sold seeds. I don't think all durbans are quick finishers. the line from cannabiogen shows that it is a long flowering fox tailing african.

the malawi and panama from ACE have been bred for many generations to make it more compatible to indoor growing.

there is a really good thread on growing the current nevils haze seeds from mr nice seeds. Musashi is the grower. amazing haze buds.

The Durban or rather kwazulu's as they come from all over the province was collected in the 40's and 50's along with other land race sativa by my grandfather who was a general in the army here. He refreshed each line and when he passed away he left me the seeds collected from all over Africa. These I have been preserving completely untainted by foreign genetics. All the African landraces you buy these days are not landraces. You cannot find the original Durban growing in Durban any more. It's all been crossed with European varieties which pretty much messed everything up. I know of only one other person with seedstock that's untainted. Had a look at your Malawi. Nice buds.
Also there are phenos landrace Durban that I grow every year and currently have them going into flower now. They will be done in 9 weeks from now. No cross and absolutely no indica at all. The other Durban phenos I have going, two run 11 - 13 weeks and 1 is 14 minimum. She hasn't even pretended to begin flowering yet so a late finisher with very airy buds but one of the most potent phenos.

Wow! What a priceless gift. It sounds like you're in Africa. If so, then you are well placed with the ability to grow native seeds in their native soil. That combination is indeed rare. I once had the opportunity to chat with a Cuban cigar roller who told me his country sold tobacco seeds to many countries. He then said proudly that they can't produce the quality like Cuba because of Cuba's soil. I'll be checking out your Landrace Durban Poison Outdoor Grow journal.

The second journal is more recent. Both have lots of info. And info from indoor growers which might help. My only thing is a plant that is flowered at 30 days is a completely different game to one that flowered after 4 months. The older She gets the better your bud will be. In my experience. I also grow 12/12 outside in winter. Much tighter buds when it's a bit cooler. The older ones always turn out better for me. I completely understand how impractical that is for indoor though So I would go 12/12 from seed keep it warm in veg and as you transition to flower cool it down.

So do you germinate the seeds and straight to 12 and 12,

Sorry for spamming you but do you still transplant with it on 12 12 ? Everything seems different with this sativa

As I preserve the lines I really only work with very strong plants. I plant all my seeds outside or transplant them outside when they have two sets of leaves. I provide really rich soil, abundant water and a full day under the African sun. They grow for 9 months. Wind in summer is almost daily and they must be able withstand winds of up to 80km/h. In winter the days are short and they will behave as if you planted a seed under a 12/12 schedule indoors. They will veg until sexually mature and then begin to flower. These buds are usually quite lose but full of terps. I then plant seeds again at the last weeks of winter so they will still veg until mature and flower. This time they get much more sun and slightly warmer temps. Those buds are my prize stash. Sohighrightnow :)'
