Aussie Guerrilla Grow For 2021/22 Season

Hey Trala. LOL. You know that carpet came from Gumtree and I chatted to the owners. They had just started renovating their parents home and their parents had bought the woollen carpet brand new when they built it - 60 years ago. Can you imagine the stories that carpet could tell!

I deliberately have found places where there are gates - but unlocked onto fire trails. See the odd motorbike but pretty rare. You know, I’ve grown in this same place since 2015 and never had an issue with insects. I have set up a $150 trail camera near the site so I can check who’s been in the vicinity, how many cars or people come past. It relieves me immensely when I check the footage as soon as I arrive and I’ve caught only Roos or the odd wombat setting it off.

I’ve found that given there is so much dry open bushland around and you’re working with pots and irrigation from your own water source people aren’t as likely to look to rip. All I need is a north facing spot clear of overhanging gum trees and I’m a happy camper and if someone stumbles on my crop it’d be very very unlucky.

:)

Good morning :)

Good ole Gumtree aye lollll

I am really excited to watch your grow. I think your set up looks ingenious:)

I knew a dude who used to grow just off the highway using 1km markers to pop his plants in. He made serious bank too. In fact he told me his most successful grow was in the middle of a roundabout with the local council supplying the irrigation.

I am loving the bushland shots. Hopefully you don’t burn this year.

Good luck! I hope you have warm sunny days and wet nights.

Hey Trala. Thanks for the kind words. I’m really hoping that the combination of purchased genetics, really good organic soil plus heaps of sun & water will turn out ok.

That’s why I was keen to document this season’s grow so I could share what I’m doing and get tips in ways to tweak things to get better results.

Hey Trala, Yes I'm very much Australian. And absolutely fascinated with AB's work. Couldn't wish him any better luck. She'll be right mate!.
I found some awesome 700mm x 700mm x 70mm recycled black plastic square trays online that I've now put underneath each of the irrigated 90 litre fabric pots. I also put about 200mm of pea straw mulch over the top of the soil (in addition to my awesome carpet wraps). ;)
Hey AB, I use similar when I bring the plants in at night. Did you think to put cake racks in them to keep the bottoms out of the water? I put lids under the cake racks so they dont just bend down to the surface.
cheers Merrily

Well you have a cheer leader in me brah :)

Where are you anyway?

I’m not sure I believe you’re Australian.

You must pass the secret Australian response question.

If I was to stand up and randomly yell “AUSSIE! AUSSIE! AUSSIE!” at the top of my lungs, what would be the appropriate response from you?

Hey Merrily.

Good idea with the cake racks. I decided that letting the fabric pots sit in a little water if runoff builds up in the trays won’t be an issue because of the heat and hot winds they’ll soon be dealing with each day sitting there on those sunny spots.

Water won’t last long in the bottom and I figure any extra water I can have the pots sitting in will be positively used and sucked up pretty quick by the roots before rapidly evaporating.

Best practice definitely says put a barrier between roots and sitting water - but my situation is all about keeping those precious drops in those 200 litre tanks hanging around the pots for as long as possible.

Im sure in this situation the ladies will enjoy having wet feet for a few hours. Like having a cold drink and sitting with your feet in the pool on a boiling hot day

Hey Trala. Thanks for the cheer leading.

I’m in SA. Had been an east coaster for a long time before that. Lived at Batemans Bay & Canberra which are both awesome spots to grow with amazing bushland everywhere. The Bay got heaps of rain and it was so green and lush in the bush in many areas.

Up in Canberra it’s a lot like SA. Hot, dry summers with a lot of very unforgiving hot weather and winds throughout summer for guerrilla outdoor growers to deal with - particular if these the sites are only visited every few weeks.

Oi! Oi! Oi! sit down and behave yourself. Not many places in the world that get Eastern Brown snakes either my friend.
So assume your unwelcome visitor was escorted from the premises! Probably an expensive little exercise to boot.

I am super interested in watching tbh. It’s like an old school grow.

Batemans Bay is a choice spot.

I really love our Aussie bushland. And I am proud by proxy of your beautiful showcasing our sunburnt country :) :) :)

Isn’t it just! I loved going to high school there and happened to have an epic 1st ever grow just below Clyde Mountain.

Back then I fell arse first into good luck as I planted (in retrospect) in a rich alluvial spot where the nearby creek flooded now & then and pullled off a corker of a crop without adding a single thing - water included.

Ended up with two perfect full grown females - one regular green & the other a deep, dark purple and ended up drying & curing them pretty well considering my lack of experience.

“Look for the majority of brown hairs” was the mantra and no one knew a thing about trichome colour back then that I knew of.

Epic old school pure sativa buds. The type you used to buy in a tin foil “stick” back in the day.

Lol. I remember “Greening Out” heaps of times on extra strong bush buds after just one cone - and I was a little seasoned back then too.

Good ‘ol days…

I also try to appreciate the amazing scenery and smell the proverbial roses. I love going out bush - but it’s always tempered with a little anxiety at not being wandered upon randomly.

Oh the good ole stick. My claim to fame, I used to be able to roll the most perfect foils. And I mean perfect.

I remember the orchy and the piece of stolen hose, mango buds, the Buddha and the Mullumbimby Madness, giggling to the point of tears and always owing my dole payment to ole mate for my tick.

Yeah the good ‘ol days. I would rather stick a fork in my eye than relive them.

I’m super lucky, I drive in one one direction for 20 mins I’m on the beach, another direction for 20 mins and I’m in the rainforest, then 10 mins in every other direction and I have the good ole bush.
