Best way to water

Good day folks. So I've got a pretty crappy setup but it's been working. Been mixing my nutrient mix in 1L of water in a spray bottle and I've just been soaking down the soil around the bottom and around the whole pot. Seems to be a bit of a waste.. is there a better way without going high tech with an auto feed system?

How many plants do you have, what size pots and what kind of medium do you have? For the indoor grows that I have done so far, I just use a watering can to water them. Sometimes I take my time and water slowly, making sure all of the soil is well soaked. But sometimes I'll just dump the whole can as fast as I can if I'm in a rush.

If I have ten plants going in 5 gallon containers, I mix a ten gallon tank or water tote full of my nutes and then ph it. I have a valve that I can then fill my hand water can up. It holds a 1/2 gallon. Then I hand water the same way haystack waters. Some days I go slow and some days I feed them fast.
I would like to look at some irrigation systems because I am switching from hp promix to coco and would like to feed 1-2 times a day.

So it's a pretty crappy setup for now. Planning on getting a legit grow tent sooner or later. However, my crappy setup has proved not too bad so far. The heater fan is blowing in through the side of the box.. I know I have to put it into a bigger deeper pot.. but here it is so far. Edit: Also, the last picture of an Amazon shopping cart is what I will be getting soon.

That's awesome. My next pot will be a chopped jug like this. Tis 5g. I'm jus gonna put a buncha small holes around it for aeration . Unless what you've got and what everyone else seems to has is those nifty cloth pots... Theyre not too costly are they?

Hi Sgt,
I wrote a little thing some years ago on how to water. It is a sticky on several forums and people seem to like the method that I outlined there. I hope that it helps you figure out how best to water your garden correctly.
You might want to give this a read: The Proper Way To Water A Potted Plant
Have a great day!

I swear by her method... it's in my signature and I pass it on daily to everyone! Don't miss the read. :)

Ther are whole chapters written about watering these plants. seems so obviously simple,, add water, grow, harvest, happy.

what could be easier??

However,, the opposite is the truth

Best advice is to water thoroughly, then let dry thoroughly, then repeat.

With small pots, learn the weight of the pot with bone dry soil inside, so when you pick it up you know it is dry, near bone dry, cuz that is what it needs to feel like before you water again

Little bits of water, often, is not proper procedure,,

Cheers friend,, karma sent

Nice. Thanks folks. Much appreciated. Will check it out for sure.
