Yup vine or runner type family, typically those don’t stand up - doesn’t appear to be cannabis at least not any strain we have seen

I'd say your brother is having you on!
Hops are related to cannabis but thats not our specialty….
We can help OP make it stand up though, with a trellis.

Not to speak for the op but looks more like LST since manifold or mainline involves topping and spreading only 2 limbs out vertically to have an even base from which growth tips rise up
