Curious' 1st Indoor Soil, Blue Dream, Strawberry Cough & Ice Grow Journal Oct 2018

Proud daddy moment! Isn't she pretty! Day 28 of flowering and my little girl is becoming a mature lady, lol.

(Strawberry Cough is still leading the way) lucky I got a couple clones, well maybe one. Lol, not bad for a first attempt at cloning, lol.
20181113_162615.jpg

Nutrients are still at half strength, PPM of 700 and a ph 6. BAC a + b, BAC rotalumits, BAC F1 extreme booster, and CYGNO ryzo. Feeding twice a week on bigger pots every second on smaller pots, flushing once a week. Started using BAC F1 extreme booster at quarter strength, couple weeks I will go to half strength. Using frooting power a few weeks before finish.
Have a good day.:ganjamon:

Woah!!!! How good do they look!

Thanks mate, not a bad for a first attempt. Though the credit has to go to MSNL and the genetics I think, a seed I was lucky and fortunate to receive.

Not bad at all! Can’t wait to see the end product aye how long do you think you have left?
I’m almost into flower myself with some random seeds.

That strain has a 12-14 week flower so I think I have about 8 weeks left, will have to wait and see will try to gauge on trichome colour.

I might have to get me this strain next! There nothing better then getting bud and laughing your ass off
The smoke I’ve been buying in my area makes me sleep within an hour it’s terrible
Hence why I’m like fck it I’m gonna grow my own
Now I’ve started I think I am way more into the growing process then getting the end product Hahahah (late reply lol)

Yeah man! And why shouldn't we be able to! I ordered mine from msnl they were great, very prompt and stealth, came sown into a heshsen bag. Have received a order for a friend that came through. I have only ordered twice im sure there are other great seed banks you can try. They were actually the freebies I got with my purchase of Blue Dream. Have some pineapple kush that were free aswell that I wouldn't mind trying on next grow. Exciting times! So addictive, really enjoying my new found hobbie like you I see.
A pic of my stretch that turned my tent to a jungle, lol. Can't even get in anymore :(

Hahahahahah dam! They are some big bushy plants
What’s the smell like?

I bought some seeds from bonzaseeds.com and spent about $120 and I killed them during germination
I was devastated
My first attempt
So my mate send me a bag of random seeds to try out my first grow
So next time I’ll get the good stuff again

Delicious! That sucks mate. Yep it's definetly worth paying for it the first couple of times. Then I think cloning and maybe producing your own seeds would be pretty cool, but all in good time. I definitely need a little more experience before I go doing that.

Hello all, quick update to the gallery and a little performance review of the girls. All looking pretty healthy and very sexy. Day 39 of flowering, just into six weeks.
Nutrients are at PH 6.3-4, PPM 1000, have just added frooting power at 1.5g/Ltr (will double next week 3g/Ltr) to my nutrient tank for the last couple of weeks. Have reduced light from 12/12 to 10/14, will reduce again down to 8/16 for last two weeks before doing my final flush. Some of the pistols are just starting to darken, not exactly sure how long I have left am waiting on a jewellers loop to check the clarity of the trichomes (not sure there is any point now). Any advice is welcome :)

Had a little issue with calcium didn't realise that it needs a PH of at least 6.3 to be useful.

Day 49 of flowering.
First four is my Strawberry Cough (My lil favourite, shhhh). I think she is looking close to finishing but the clear trichomes say otherwise?

Next photo is Lady ICE, a lot of over stretching has made her flower sites have a fair space between them.
20181219_190524.jpg

Biggest change I have seen after a week of frooting power is in my blue dream, (next two photos) which was very sparse and stretched seems she is filling in nicely. Could just be normal growth?
20181219_190540.jpg
20181219_190512.jpg

Nutrients are at half strength while running frooting power. PPM 1000 PH 6.5-8 since being told that cal/mag does not get absorbed at anything lower than 6.3 in soil. flush straight water once a week. Hopefully a couple weeks to go.
Once trichomes start turning milky is there a rough time frame to when they start to turn amber? Just trying to predict the future, lol. :ganjamon:

Devastated!!!
Going through my previous post and the photos on it, I noticed a dark brown spot at the bottom of my biggest and best cola with a suspicion of bud rot. On further investigation today my suspicion was confirmed, noooooooo!!! So I quickly jumped into action, watched a you tube video and got a closer inspection. Unfortunately the rot had already begun eating the main stem. I chopped her off a little lower just to cover all bases as I have not noticed any rot any where else hopefully I can save the main cola. Have turned up my extraction to help prevent any further issues, fingers crossed. Soo cut :(

That sucks!
Hope she finishes out happy & healthy now that you got it cleared out.

Hello again, time to get back into it. A little gap in between posts due to holidays and Christmas. But time to finish up this journal.

Ok, I left off with the mould issue I was having, fortunate enough it didn't ruin my crop only affected about a quarter ounce. This issue was caused by higher humidity levels which also unfortunately caused some stretching to my Blue Dream strain.
20181219_190343.jpg

At first I thought the stretching was due to a clip fan having a green led which was on during dark period, but on discussion with a friend the led didn't effect the two other strains? In conclusion I learnt that humidity can have multiple affects on your crops and that some crops are more tolerant or enjoy it more than others.

Only having a few weeks before going on holidays for three weeks and no one to take care of my ladies (not the greatest timing I know) I needed to get them hung and start the curing process asap. Soon as I noticed first few amber trichomes and majority of the trichomes were opaque they were put on a strict water only diet.

After one week of water/flushimg it was time to take a bath in Doc Buds wash recipe. I would like to have given them at least two weeks of flushing as I grew in soil, just ran out of time. Having had a few small cases of bud rot and a pretty bad fungus gnat problem I ended up using the four bucket method. Recipe can be found here, about page two or three.
Bud Washing
Recipe followed:
Bucket 1: H2O2 - 100ml per 20litres (as I could only get 6% hydrogen peroxide)
Bucket 2: 1 cup of lemon juice & 1 cup of bi-carb soda per 20litres (I used coles bottled lemon juice as I wanted the benefits of the sulphites).
Bucket 3: plain tap water
Bucket 4: plain tap water (poured in night before to evaporate a little chlorine).

After wash comments/advice:
I would/did use wrapping paper boxes to wash in. Have first two buckets between 34-36 degrees Celsius (helps loosen contaminants). Last two buckets about room temp, around 20-21 degrees Celsius. I only trimmed fan leaves and larger sugar leaves. Next time I would trim all fan leaves then over a container trim everything else off (sugar leaves and leaves with resin on) to make bubble hash or edables later. As it would be alot easier for curing and the wash would get all trimmings that don't fall off, leaving nice clean buds. Overall it worked great! Not only brightened everything up, it washed out alot of contaminants. I have not experienced the smoke yet... I do have samples of each and will have to wait until they are cured before really seeing the benefits.

Fast foward 7 days, ladies have been drying.

20190122_080230.jpg

Time to cure, using 1 litre mason jars from Target filling up to about 80-90% with one 8gram 62% Boveda humidi packs per jar, as the jar should hold about an Oz at that fill level. 4 mini hygrometer will be scattered throughout jars.

Fast forward 3 weeks of curing and here we are finally up to date. Would still like to cure for at least one more week hopefully two. Grass smell is very faint and they are developing there strain aromas and less of a grass smell. Good to see the effort amount to something, even though it's not really an effort getting so much enjoyment out of the whole process. :yummy:
Ok these are approximate weights
2x Blue Dream. = 201grams
2x Ice = 146grams
1x Strawberry Cough = 178grams
For a total weight of approximately 525grams or 18.519oz
Plus a couple ice cream containers of kieff & trimmings. Yay! hit the one pound! Whoo hooo! :slide:Not too bad for a first attempt

Really enjoyed this grow. Learnt so much in such a short time. Thanks to everyone that helped along the way. Being a first grow it was a little bit of a juggling act having three different strains with each its own requirements.

Next up is four monster cropped clones of the Strawberry Cough as this one strain far succeeded the other two, by quality of product and more of a solid and larger type flower. Not to mention its ability to tolerate changing conditions. Looking forward to using the knowledge gained and seeing what can be done by focussing on one strain. :thanks:
