Day 1 of Flower

I almost feel silly posting this but.....
What constitutes day 1 of flower?
The first day after flip to 12/12 or first day after one week of transition?

Usually at the emergence of pistils. Lately I just count from flip so I have a constant reference point in my notes.

I go from the appearance of the first pistils for a new strain. Strains I've encountered before, I use the flip as I'll know about how long the stretch will be.

I always go by time
Waiting more than 40 days after germination just doesn't work with my cranky personality lol
That being said, at the end of veg, my nute schedule says a week of transition follows
So, I'm always scratching my head wondering what I should use as a reference for day 1 flower
Light schedule gets flipped with day 1 of transition

Mine went on 12/12 yesterday-when they show me
that they're both girls (or not) -that'll be day one.

I'm doing an outdoor grow and I had wondered the same question. As I had no light cycle to flip I took the first appearance of a pistil as day 1 of flowering. I had not been clear of what the convention/rule was, so good to read that others are calculating in similar fashion.
