If water flows through it no. If it's a brick yes. When it gets too dry it's kind of tricky to rehydrate Coco without just drenching/soaking the whole thing. It gets little dry pockets that are really hard on root systems. That's why I just keep mine as wet as I can manage without causing stem rot.

pH adjust the water if it's over 6.5 somewhere between 5.8 and 6.2.

Maybe Extreme salt buildup if you're using salt based nutrients.
That could cause something like a reverse osmosis that could actually suck water out of the roots.
