First Ever Grow Journal

So I’ve decided to share my experience with you all. As the title says this is my first ever grow and I’m very new to it all so if you see anything or have suggestions please feel free


I’m currently on day 4

I’ve planted 3 seeds

2 granny medicine cbd and 1 blue dream

All 3 are fem seeds

So far only 1 seed has pushed its way through the soil ( the blue dream ) and its seems to be doing very well

One of the granny medicine is just starting to poke out of the soil now the 3rd one seems a little slower but I’m sure it’ll get there lol

So my current set up ( will be up grading when money allowes it).

I currently have 9-23w 6500k cfls.

As the plants get bigger I plan on adding another 9 23w cfls giving me a total of 414 actual watts.

I’ll be using general hydroponics flora series 3 part Some cal-mag as needed as well

I plan on getting some leds but want to wait and see how this turns out first

I have a fan for air circulation a blower/fan to vent. My setup is in my basement and it’s very dry right now so with the plants are bigger I’ll also have a humidifier running as needed.

The lights are keeping my grow area a constant 25 degrees celsius

When the lights shut off the temp drops to 18 degrees Celsius

So at this point I feel like I don’t need a heater running ( I could be wrong I’m new lol )


This is my first grow I don’t expect a huge yeld I’m more interested at this point in learning how to grow and get better as I go


I’ll be keeping this post updated as things progress with pics and maybe the odd video as well

Update : I wrote this last night and only one seedling had popped up well now there’s 2 up and growing well

Hi and welcome
They are pheno fem seeds it auto fem seeds?
If they are auto seeds, you will need more lights or just accept less yield.
You will get buds for sure
If they are phenos, just let them veg until they have bulked up in size.
Now a cfl 23W is what they draw from your wall socket.
They actually shine for ≈100W depending on model.
I think you are doing juuuust fine

My advice

Don't buy 9 more CFL bulbs, find a decent, inexpensive LED light
Not sure yet country, but see what's available and we can help ya decide

Unforunitly I already have all the cfls I need 18 23w 6500k bulbs. And 18 23w 2700k bulbs

Honestly I should have just bought 1or 2 200w cfls but where I’m from they are not readily available. My thoughts were is one bulb should happen to die then I can go to any store and get more.

Interesting set up

Did u know more light comes out from the side of the bulb

Not sure u can rotate them, but would increase the output a lot

I did the 400+w cfl bulb thing too...sooo much easier to switch it up sooner rather than later. Your plants will thank you!

You can also hang cfls right inside the canopy to capture all the light...

LED is great for vegging

It's actually only 185w I have grown a single plant with 26 watts of LED it didn't get giant but it did surprisingly well that's my only personal experience with led's, if you make a post specifically about what LED within your price range is the best, you will get lot's of great info

The philzon I hear have been good lights for peeps in Kanuckistan

Mars and veperspecra are also good inexpensive options

Not sure on that kingplus but reviews look pretty good

So today is day is day 5 of seedling. Finally the last of the 3 plants has started to pop from the soil.

I have also made an upgrade to my lights so the plants are seeing more then just the bottom of the bulbs.

So far things are moving along slow but well. The lady’s are looking good and that’s all that matters at this point

So day 6 nothing new to report really my lady’s are still alive and look to be in good health
