My name is Fullmeltalchemist and I like to grow the marijuana. I use DWC and now RDWC along with GH Flora 3-part and Grotek supplements. My main light is a 1000w HPS and the veg lights are a 400w MH and 150w HPS.
My RDWC:
Step one: Install 4 1/2" PVC bungs into equally spaced 1 1/4" from the bottom of the pail. I used a 3/4in christmas tree bit for the holes and the bung threaded in perfectly. I added a small rubber oring and sealed with plumbing silicone for good measure.
Step two: The manifold. I wont go into too much detail here, as there are better ways to make a manifold but my way worked and is the cheapest. All half inch PVC to mate up to the 300GPH submersible pump. The poly tubes are wrapped in Teflon tape until snug the glued into place and sealed with plumbing silicone.
Step 3: Bubblebuckets. First, wrap 4 buckets in reflective tape. Drill a 5/16 hole near the top for your airline. Install PVC bung 1 1/4in from the bottom and seal. Cut PVC tube at 7in and apply PVC cement to both ends. With the help of your spouse firmly insert the ends into both buckets and push from the inside until the pipe is as far in both ways as it will go.
Step 4: Install the manifold and pump of your choosing, here's how mine fits. I drilled more 3/4 hole for the tubes a few inches from the top and cut a hole in a lid for the manifold to sit on. I might have to extend it an inch or two to lower the pump, right now I have to keep the buckets pretty full for the pump to run.
Final placement, got a thick layer of silicone on all joints.
Not pictured is my 170l air pump, which is also important. And before you say "WTF, are you growing in gravel?" Yes, yes I am. It works great and I ran out of hydroton when I was transplanting these girls.
Now onto the plants! About 5 weeks in on the big ones, all 12/12 from seed in this tent. No topping, just a little LST and supercropping. Very happy with the bud and resin production so far, but the ate up my entire bottle of bloom nutes already so I gotta spend some money within the next few days.
