Fullmeltalchemist's - Perpetual - 1400W - RWDC

My name is Fullmeltalchemist and I like to grow the marijuana. I use DWC and now RDWC along with GH Flora 3-part and Grotek supplements. My main light is a 1000w HPS and the veg lights are a 400w MH and 150w HPS.

My RDWC:

Step one: Install 4 1/2" PVC bungs into equally spaced 1 1/4" from the bottom of the pail. I used a 3/4in christmas tree bit for the holes and the bung threaded in perfectly. I added a small rubber oring and sealed with plumbing silicone for good measure.

Step two: The manifold. I wont go into too much detail here, as there are better ways to make a manifold but my way worked and is the cheapest. All half inch PVC to mate up to the 300GPH submersible pump. The poly tubes are wrapped in Teflon tape until snug the glued into place and sealed with plumbing silicone.

Step 3: Bubblebuckets. First, wrap 4 buckets in reflective tape. Drill a 5/16 hole near the top for your airline. Install PVC bung 1 1/4in from the bottom and seal. Cut PVC tube at 7in and apply PVC cement to both ends. With the help of your spouse firmly insert the ends into both buckets and push from the inside until the pipe is as far in both ways as it will go.

Step 4: Install the manifold and pump of your choosing, here's how mine fits. I drilled more 3/4 hole for the tubes a few inches from the top and cut a hole in a lid for the manifold to sit on. I might have to extend it an inch or two to lower the pump, right now I have to keep the buckets pretty full for the pump to run.

Final placement, got a thick layer of silicone on all joints.

Not pictured is my 170l air pump, which is also important. And before you say "WTF, are you growing in gravel?" Yes, yes I am. It works great and I ran out of hydroton when I was transplanting these girls.

Now onto the plants! About 5 weeks in on the big ones, all 12/12 from seed in this tent. No topping, just a little LST and supercropping. Very happy with the bud and resin production so far, but the ate up my entire bottle of bloom nutes already so I gotta spend some money within the next few days. :(

Like your set up, the only question I would have to start with is have you ever had issues with your white bucket growing algae? I am no hydro guy but at some point I would love to say good-bye to the dirt and give it a try, but one thing I have heard is that white buckets can allow light to penetrate which can lead to algae.

The rest looks fantastic. Very nicely done.

The white bucket hasn't been in use long enough to tell, but I've never had any algae in my DWC thanks to adding 1ml of 30% h202 for every gallon of water. If I notice any on the white pail it will get reflective tape like the rest of the buckets.

Went to check my veg room today and a batch of tiny white mites must have hatched and are crawling everywhere, might just ditch soil all together and setup more DWC buckets.

Here's some shots of the flowering tent, first the RDWC:

Purple pheno

And the last plant in flush in regular DWC

I was going to harvest it this week but it started growing white pistols again so I'll let it go as long as it will on plain water.

Also I've been trying to find some decent information about if you should or should not pH balance your flush water in hydro. I never have, but I do add a little h202 to keep things healthy and my plants still drink, but I've read that nute lockout works both ways and the plant wont leach properly in not pH'd water but it all seems to be mostly speculative and opinion based.

Had some issues with this bucket so decided to chop them instead of untangle their roots from their dead twin, but hopefully 4 days of flush was enough.

The first plant plus a curious cat

After a two hour trim

Not a high yielder but the colour and smell are amazing

Second plant...

A movie, 4 episodes of Naruto and 10 of Futurama later

This nug is a rock and as big as my fist , I gave up on finely manicuring it like I usually do

Very high yield from the second plant at least a few ounces

Here are the 6.5oz dry from the SOG so far, nothing special compared to that purple pheno

And a little looksie around the flowering tent, I have one moving into flush tomorrow

And the RDWC

The others

Finally got around to uploading some pics, I'm doing a Black Gum test grow for Original Sensible Seeds and I'll also be running their Blueberry Ghost OG, Black Destroyer, Pineapple Slick and Super Auto Lemon Haze so stick around if you want to see some impressive new genetics. I'm also running Critical from Bulk Seed Bank and this stuff just flew out of their shells. I had taproots in 24 hours, broken soil in 48 and seedlings in 72.

Last 2 weeks harvest, the dry stuff weighed in at 2.25oz and the stuff in the bucket has been drying about 4 days so 2-3 days to go before I jar that up.
