Hedz’ Constant Garden: Quadlined Clones, Auto Flowers

I am starting this new thread as an ongoing home for our current and future grows. As we are retired and on fixed incomes, we prefer to use clones and we only purchase seeds occasionally to keep our costs down. Our current grow — we have 5 Cheese, 6 French Cookies, 2 L.A. Confidential, 2 Gorilla Breath all from clones and 2 White Widow autos and a Dr. Feelgood auto. Hope to have this current grow complete by the first week of May as we have to shut everything down for a few weeks to sell my late mother’s house (which is an 8 hour drive from here). The clones were taken Dec 29, and then put into 1 gallon smart pots (Jan 18th) and transplanted into 5 & 7 gallon smart pots about 12 days ago. The auto seeds broke through the soil on Feb 19th. So, the photo period clones are at day 43 of veg, the autos are at day 11. We are also looking for grower feedback for Dark Devil (both auto and PP), as that is a new strain we’d like to try once we return from selling mom’s house.

Ooops, should have mentioned that we are growing in no-till and using teas, and organic dry ammendments. As our pots are small for no-till, we give the plants a compost tea once a week. We also water our plants via the boot trays that they are sitting in. So we water from the top down once for every 2 times we water from the bottom up in the boot trays.

Due to time constraints, we flipped everything to flower today (including the autos which are 14 days old). The photo periods were at 46 days of veg. Kinda concerned about the autos - have no choice. We won’t harvest until they are ready and have to leave here May 10th by the latest.

We added a couple of home made CO2 dispensers made with 2 litre bottles with a drilled opening in the caps, sugar, yeast and luke warm water. The drilled hole is to allow the CO2 to release into the grow area. This mixture should last 2-3 weeks before being replaced. Day use only, we remove them in the evening and put back each morning. Boosting the autos, the rest too, but mostly the autos. If anyone is interested, it’s 2 cups of white sugar, 1/4 teaspoon of active dry yeast and enough luke warm water to fill the 2 litre bottle to within 3 inches of the top. Add the sugar and yeast to the empty bottle via a funnel and then add the lukewarm water. Put the cap with the hole drilled in it on the bottle, cover the hole with your thumb and shake, shake shake. When you put the bottle in your grow area each morning, give it a good shake. The size of the drilled hole is 1/32”

4 days into flower - the stretch is noticeable. Removed 1 humidifier from the flower room to be able to keep humidity at around 55%. Can anyone help me out with a transition / pre-flowering compost tea recipe? Saw a couple of fungus gnats flitting around last night. I’ve been using a peroxide drench once a week and really have not seen but a few for the last month. I also use a neem oil drench once a week also, but separated by a few days. Have put down some sticky traps to see the potential problem that this grow may have. Will report back.

Day17 of flower, day 30 for the autos. Just finished 10 day cycle IPM. Neem drench followed by peroxide drench 2 days later. Will continue to do this until approx 21 days left.

Day 25 flower - day 39 for the autos. Just finished leaf strip. Buds are building nicely, trichomes forming on the bud leaves.

Hi Folks, I’ve never seen this before. The top bud of the branch has turned brown and pretty crispy. He plant is an L.A. Confidential that is 5 weeks into flower. This happened quickly as the plant looked fine 2 days ago. Used my loupe to check for critters as we have had spider mites In the past. Could find nothing and no webbing. Any help, please. hedz

Hey everyone, just tossed 8 plants in the garbage. Upon closer examination, the trichomes on all the plants that i threw out were completely gone. No point in trying to save any plant that ‘s 5 weeks into flower with 0 trichomes (there were lots of trichomes a few days ago - all gone). We gently removed the plants from the grow area, cut them down and out in the trash. The remaining plants ( 5 French Cookies, 3 Gorilla Breath) still look fine, will monitor closely. Sorry, I never took any photos of the missing tric’s - I was so pissed off, I forgot. Here’s a couple pics of the remaining plants. Note the discolouration on the leaves. That branch may have to go also.
FYI - the plants that were destroyed were a mix of LA Confidential (4), Cheese (3), Gorilla Breath (1). By the way, we are at day 39 flower.

The 8 remaining plants are now about a week from harvest. With the covid19 here in Northern Ontario, we are changing our plans to move to Toronto until the end of July. So, 1 more grow. This time - 4 Dark Devil auto seeds in distilled water, then to solo cups & 5 gal smart pots (no-till soil). Will post some new photos of current grow tomorrow.
