Help me choose my first lights

Hi all I am new to the community and I currently have 2 seedlings under a shitty incandescent bulb and i have done some research so i know thats not going to do much for me. I dont really have any local grow shops so I was thinking of picking up CFLs from lowes, the most powerful light they have is a 150 watt equivalent for $12. How many of these should i grab for 2 plants in a small closet space? Also, I was wondering if anybody regularly buys lights off ebay and shit, i saw low prices online but i also read bad reviews.

Rule of thumb is 50w per sqaure foot of grow area

I have a few local shops around me so I buy from them to keep support my local businesses and have good crack with the guys there
