Hijinks - Legal Colorado - Indoor - Multi-Strain Grow

Hijinks

Well i'm back at it again... I doubt anyone noticed I disappeared, but just for my own sake I will explain my 2 year hiatus. After my first successful grow, I decided to expand and grow way more plants cause my first go around was 'easy'. At one point I had about 60 plants going, and they were all dying. I was in way over my head, and I was getting very frustrated. So I downsized back down to around 6-8 plants, but I was still having problems. My biggest mistake was not regularly checking the pH of the water I was using, I just assumed that my well water pH stayed constant. Dealt with a case of spider mites after accepting clones from a friend. Also had a crop I had to chop down due to powdery mildew. So needless to say, I have learned a lot over the last couple years, but now I think I have it mostly dialed in. Now I am able to focus more on things like topping and training - the fun stuff .

Currently I have a spare bedroom in my house that has been completely converted into a grow space - veg room (4x9), flower room (9x9), veg closet (4x3), and a little nook for clones (2x2). The room also has some wooden dowel rods hanging from hooks that I use to hang dry the plants. Hopefully I will get a tent to dry in which will be more of a controlled environment, but for now the dowels work well. The flower room uses 4x 400watt lights, the veg room has 2x 4ft 8bulb T5 lights, the veg closet uses 1x 4ft 6bulb T5, and the clones are under a 2ft 2bulb T5. Overall my temps are pretty low and I have yet to need air conditioning. I have access to a window in the room, so the flower room lights are air cooled which leaves the room around 70-78 depending on the outside temps, and the veg room has a temp controlled inline fan that draws outside air to regulate temps between 72-80. I might look into getting a heater for the nighttime, because it sometimes drops below 65.

When I first started growing I was using Roots Organic soil, which probably was fine, but wanting a fresh start I switched to Fox Farms Ocean Forest and I haven't looked back. Ocean Forest is so rich in nutrients that I have been able to let my plants get full grown in a 5 gallon pot without ever feeding them - the plants seem to love it so I will continue using it. As far as nutrients go, I use mostly Age Old Organics line - veg, bloom, kelp, humic. I also use General Hydroponics pH down (my well water is usually around 8.5-9pH with 400ppm).

I'm not sure how open I want to be with the genetics I am growing, just because I work in the industry and can't disclose some proprietary information, but I will be as honest as I can. As it sits right now I only have two strains. One is a sativa dominant hybrid - Blue Dream crossed with a kush - this is in flower as of 1/6 and it is an absolute monster. Definitely the biggest plant I have ever grown. It is happily taking up 2 lights at the moment because I had to get rid of its male brethren. The other strain is a Girl Scout Cookie (forum cut) cross with the same kush as the first strain. Sort of like an indica leaning version of GSC? I have 6 of the GSC cross in veg, and I just took a clone from each and put those into flower to sex them. I still have a lot of room in the grow (which is never a bad thing), but recently graduated from college I have a lot of time on my hands, so I would like to pop some more seeds. I have a ton of options, but I am very biased towards sativas because they are all I smoke. and the grow is for my own personal use. A Flo hybrid is at the top of my list right now, but we will see.

TL;DR: I work in a dispensary and I am legally growing their genetics on the side! Enjoy some current pictures. Sorry for poor picture quality.

Area for clones currently empty because the clone light is in the veg closet which is also empty!

Annnnnd i'll sneak in a little weed porn here at the end for those who stuck it out. Another Blue Dream cross, but this one with Super Lemon Haze.... from my last batch that is still hanging to dry in the pictures above.

Hope all is well in your world.

Is this grow still alive?

We would love to be updated with some pictures and info.

How about posting a 420 Strain Review?

If you need any help with posting photos, please read our Photo Gallery Tutorial.

I am moving this to Abandoned Journals until we get updates.

Sending you lots of love and positive energy.

Second update (sorry for the long break... my phone died and I was unable to take pictures or upload anything):

Blue Dream X Kush cross is day 42 of flowering and looking amazing. At one point the branches got so heavy that one broke, so I lost some significant weight, but this is a learning process for me still and it is the biggest & healthiest plant I've grown yet. It has been receiving 12 ml/gal of Age old Bloom per feed which is about 2x a week.

The girl scout cookie cross is ready to be put into flower, so two of them that have clones taken were put into flower yesterday, and one will remain in veg to bulk it up a little bit and take clones. Only 3 of the 6 I had turned out to be females.

I also decided on sprouting two new genetics - one is a Tangerine x Super Lemon Haze (super sativa dominant), and the other is a Florida OG cross (super indica dominant). One of the Tang X SLAZE seedlings had a very interesting growth - it stopped growing terminal sprout and instead grew 4 leaves out from the center. Never seen this before - included a picture from the top.

And some obligatory weed porn:

Hope everyone has a great weekend! :Namaste:

Hey everybody, hope all is going well. :Namaste:

Day 49 of the Blue Dream x Kush

Day 6 of flower GSC cross:

Veg room 1: Two BD X kush cross clones just got tied down & topped, and my upcoming army all just got their first toppings.

Veg Room 2: GSC just topped again

Have a great week all!:thumb:

Hey all, here's an update on my plants:

Blue Dream x Kush, Day 53: Looking fantastic and really bulking up a lot in its last growth spurt. I have stopped the nutrients and have started giving it only pHed water. Just spent some time adding some more stakes to hold the bigger nugs closer to the lights.

GSC cross, Day 10: Not much stretch at all, maybe a few inches at most. Had to raise the lights up for them for now. Just gave them a mix of grow & bloom nutes - this will be the last they see of any nitrogen nutrients.

GSC cross still left in veg:

The upcoming army: The two that are LST'd are the BD cross.

See you next time :volcano-smiley:

Very nice plants I have just moved to new Mexico from Denver I lived there for 8 years I did a few outdoor green house grows there but this is my first indoor I'm useing the same stuff on my Plants so it's good to see some one having good results

Thanks! It didn't come easily, that's for sure. Went through a lot of failed crops before finally dialing it in. :thumb:

Pics of the harvest- all from one plant. Hoping for around a pound, but who knows what it will weigh out to. Using 800 watts that would come out to around 1/2 gram per watt, which I would be happy with using no scrog.

And here's some pictures of the GSC cross which are now all in flower:

And the veggies:

And a box of edibles I thought was funny at work: "No can openers"

Looking good. Subbed. Your setup is freaking awesome! I wish I could have that much space to grow. Some day... Are you going to keep this journal going? Like perpetually? Just wondering.

Thanks! The plan is to keep the journal going perpetually, yes. I like to be able to look back at my progress. Currently I am going through various strains and picking the best phenos. :volcano-smiley:

Are you going to have a dry weight from your recent harvest in the next couple of days? Pounders are awesome to imagine!

I imagine I will be takin them down from hanging to put into jars to cure in the next week or so, and then I will weigh them after about 3-4 weeks cure time! I am only guessing at the weight right now

Plant update:

Spent some time rearranging so that I could hang plants in the closet instead of in my 'lung' room and that way I can keep humidity and temperature under better control.

Took clones from my upcoming strains so that I can sex them in a few weeks, and also took more clones from the Blue Dream x Kush cross.

Veg room was split from one light into two for better air circulation and light penetration.

Found some extremely interesting growth on two of my veg plants, each from a different strain. They are both growing two apical shoots from one stem. Not sure if this is a good or bad thing, but I can't imagine it is 'healthy'. I will continue to grow them out for now and see what happens.

I am anxious to start some more strains, but don't want to get ahead of myself. :lot-o-toke:
