Indoor C99 1st Grow In Soil

Way back in august I decided to buy a temp and humidity monitor as everyone here keeps a close eye on it and I wanted to emulate the successful bounties achieved.
Having had no luck locally, I bought a 'cool' looking one on eBay.

Unfortunately it never arrived. I had to wait over a month for the delivery window to expire as it was coming from China. Thanks a lot, China!!
Refunded I went back online and like a magpie, something caught my eye. For a mere tenner I could get this sensor that monitors the stats and feeds into an app. Cool!! Shut up and take my money!!

No sooner had I bought it that I realised there may need to be a 'gateway' device for it to work. This turned out to be the case.

An extra 30. Dammit! After a week of justifying it I swallowed hard and bought it. Remember, there is no guarantee that it will work at all! This morning the tiny little sensor came, wahoo! So hopefully this gateway will arrive soon. It would be nice to record some sort of humidity reading before I harvest!! In the meantime I have been using a sort of card from SEAI-sustainable energy authority Ireland to monitor temps.

here it's about 20.

So Winnie and Bear are very thirsty girls at the moment. Is that normal towards the end of flower? And every time I go to water there are more leaves ready to come off. As I understand that is pretty normal. Starting week 7 of flower.

Getting a few orange trichomes in the upper buds, couldn't find any further south. Should I chop?!...

Not brilliant shots but there seems to be a good bit of orange.

I mapped out the plants. Dunno why! I must have too much time on my hands!! Kinda raging I didn't use the green pen! The circled top bud is the one I removed. Not sure if I'm too early but it will be a sure fire way of learning. I'll give the other top buds more time and compare.

Well having a big 5 g bud lying around isn't good!!Have the poor thing trimmed down big time!! Dunno what she will weigh wet but she will be a lot lighter, wet or dry, after I'm done!!

420 crew member "Thirsty" signing in. Initial smoke report: ∆ = - Computer: 'Sir, I cannot continue this report until you are 1st informed of the odours detected pre stoning'...
Thirsty: 'Go on'...
Computer: 'Sir the odours detected were citrus like'.
Thirsty: 'What? That doesn't make any sense'.
Computer: 'How so, sir'?
Thirsty: 'It doesn't matter. What did your emotion chip feel when your you chemically analysed the scent'?
Computer: 'Enjoyment, suprise, and squinty eyedness were the main emotions felt sir'.
Thirsty: 'Update coarse heading to intercept the anomaly'.
...some time later...
Thirsty: ✌️' re-analyse that trouser stain. It mocks me so'!!
"Computer" send out a distress signal.
Tell them I'm stoned'!!
Computer: ...PFFFFFFFF BZZZZZZZ... MALFUNCTION...shutting down.

I took a bud from Winnie on Monday as Ophelia raged outside. Strange old day.

Here is the same bud a week and a half later untrimmed and weighing 1 gram!!

And trimmed...

It lost a lot of the citrus flavour compared to the undried bud I smoked from Bear. Or maybe bear is more citrusy!

Here are my 2 plants as they stand today. A lot of leaves have come off.
420-magazine-mobile61532707.jpg

I took a calyx from pretty high up on Bear to see if there was much in the way of amber on it.

420-magazine-mobile2135917236.jpg

None. Should I give them more time?! The sugar leaves at the top seem to have some amber. Believe it or not these Rae some of the better pics I was able to get!!!...

So the question is, what am I to do?

I wasn't gonna bother with a flush at the end. Time and effort were preventing me but for the last 2 weeks I just fed water and did a flush nearly a week ago. On inspection today there were still a good few white pistils but the orange ones were getting dark. The trichomes looked as 'plasticy' or 'milky' as ever I seen them aswell so I decided to chop. Trichomes looked less milky further down so I only cut some off. 71grams. Shoulda been about 80 I guess if I didn't sample already.

Still lots of popcorn
420-magazine-mobile477453486.jpg

Ended up with 18grams after a week drying. Still a good bit on the plants. Gonna let that 'mature' for another while to see the difference. What I have at the moment is gonna go into mason jar after I trim it up.

Weekly update. Still not much amber on the remaining buds so I'll leave them be. In an earlier post I mentioned how I had bought a temp and humidity sensor but was waiting on the associated 'bridge' to connect it. Well that came.
420-magazine-mobile1874962478.jpg

You can set the intensity of the backlight and it's colour!
420-magazine-mobile784527893.jpg

I put the sensor in the mason jar..
420-magazine-mobile513752551.jpg
...and can read the results on my phone at any time.
420-magazine-mobile779665149.jpg
420-magazine-mobile1564721985.jpg

Here is one where I had the jar opened but before closing it up I breathed into it to see the affect on humidity.
420-magazine-mobile249755385.jpg

Temperature returned to normal as expected but humidity is higher. Will open it now for a while and presumably the humidity will drop a little.
I had the sensor in the grow box but readings were erratic. Bridge might have been too far away. Plan to try again.

Sugar leaves were going purple on the remaining buds and trichomes looked plenty cooked so chopped the last of the 2 plants down.

Can't wait to see how this 2nd batch compares. Dried buds should look good with the purple!
