New Grower's Journal - Northern Lights Auto By RQS

Day 46 - just watered today with plain well water Ph6.5, but we got out new light in and installed it.
It's the VIPARSPECTRA P2000 LED. I got it off of eBay and fairly cheap. $110 roughly and it's made for a 4X2 tent so this should help the plants in flower.

Day 50 from seed - We have entered week 8 and everything looks good. I have a feeling plant #4 is actually going to be fine. I think it's just developing slower, which after doing a lot of research on northern light and autoflowers in general I see some of them going to 14 weeks. So anywhere from 8-14 weeks is possible. My 2 tall plants are early bloomers and I'm thinking another 2-3 weeks for them to develop bigger buds. The 3rd one is a week or two behind and the 4th one has just started flower. Either way I'm not too worried and the most important thing is patience.

I did however have to adjust feeding and watering according to each plants stage in development so it's been a little harder keeping track but as long as you write everything down it's fine.

I did a lot of defoliating throughout the whole growth so far but I think I left most of the main leaves up. I defoliated because 4 plants in this 4x2 tent is not easy so to make room I had to even cut main branches off that didn't grow tall enough and every time I did cut leaves or branches the plants just recovered immediately.

It's all a learning process but so far I think we have nailed it. The plants never showed any major signs of stress or deficiencies and I'm looking forward to the final stretch and hope these buds grow and develop nicely.

Day 51 -

Fed the plants today with 5ML of CalMag, 5ML of Micro, 5ML of Grow, and 10ML of Bloom, and 8ML of Bud Candy in a gallon of water. Watered with 1L for the 3 bigger plants and 500ML for the 4th plant.

Water PH6.4

Biggest feed yet for the plants. Let's see how they handle it.
Going to water twice and then feed in a week again on the water water feed cycle from here on out.

Day 54 - just watered yesterday. Bud sites everywhere. Not a single leaf on any of the 4 plants is showing any kind of deficiency or weakness.

Going to keep doing what I've been doing. I frickin love these plants. Oh and the smell is just amazing. So far very 🍋

Day 60 - watered yesterday and feed day is tomorrow. The 2 plants in the pictures are way ahead of the other 2. And I think they only might have a week or two left judging by the hairs turning orange. The tricombes are still milky I would say.

I'm not sure if I should start flushing or still feed at this point. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Most members use a product like sledgehammer to flush their pot if they are experiencing or expecting a deficiency due to build up around the roots.
Usually the last couple weeks, you have a month. :Namaste:
Your ladies are eating and growing well.
I see no need to interrupt their daily diet.
Personally I feed right until I chop, full strength nutrients daily.
I'd keep on feeding them.
Looks good my friend.
Take care.

Bill,

Thanks for the feedback. So you think I have another month with these 2 plants?

If so that would be awesome. Gives them time to grow more.

Are you saying I should be feeding them every day as well??

As far as flushing I heard that for better taster you should flush a week to two before harvest to wash out all excess nutrients. But it would actually make it easier if I could just feed them to the end like you said.

Let me know how you figure I have a month left Id love to know.

Thanks!

Nino

Day 68 from seed.

Two days away from 10 full weeks my northern lights are turning purple it seems. I did some research and I guess it's rare but it does happen. The sugar leaves are turning purple. It could be things like genetics or deficiencies maybe? Not sure.

My tall plant got some light burn on top. Im worried that it could harm the plant but at this point I have lifted the light as far up as I can in this 5' tall tent and I don't have a choice about it. Hopefully being that it only has a week or two left it will turn out fine.

Im still on a water water feed schedule giving them a full feed every time. Trycombes still look clear or milky with no amber ones in sight so I'm just leaving them alone and letting them bulk up.

Any feedback about the color change or anything else is greatly appreciated.

Everything looks OK, keep feeding as you are.
Lots of light and some air circ and you will have a fantastic harvest.

You have a few weeks to go, they will bulk up nicely
My friend Bill says keep feeding and I agree with that, but taper it off as the pistils turn
As with all flowers, there comes a point at which they are using their stored energy to produce seeds/flowers, not nutrients from the roots because there is no time to process them into usable sugars/carbs
When the plant heads towards end of flower, it will prioritize floral over foliar development

Thanks for the feedback Roy.

Ive been noticing the fan leaves on one of the plants turning light green towards yellow. I'm assuming it's a sign of the plant using nutrients for bud growth. The plant is further ahead of the other 3 and probably the first to be done.
I did not expect results like this being that's it's my first grow ever of any type of plant but I've learned so much and it's just fun growing honestly.

Day 73 - Fed the plants yesterday with another full dose.
The plant in the pictures is getting ripe. Keeping an eye out every day looking at the trycombes. Still no sign of amber ones.

Day 76 - The most advanced plant is almost ready. Majority of trycombes are milky. Waiting for some to turn amber which should happen within a week I'm guessing. But all 4 plants are looking good. Tomorrow is feed day and I plan on feeding until the end.

Looks like we have some Amber trycombes appearing. I can only see a few so I think maybe in a few days I will chop this one down.

Any thoughts anyone?

Thanks

Excellent work Amigo :thumb:
Pistils are red so your close.
Is she still draining her pot regularly?
When she is done she stops eating.

Do you log her feeding?
They will get further and further apart now.
Be patient and wait for the final swell. :Namaste:
