I don't know what state you are in but do you have those cheap machines outside stores? I pay 15 cents a gallon or if I don't feel like going to the cheap store 20 cents. One gallon at a time is 25 cents.

How big is your res if you are using that much water it sounds too big. If you need to chill water you don't need new water just pull a gallon at a time from the res. Take the info now since I think I am going to have them erase all my posts I am tied of getting warnings from porn girls instead of mods for bs since I have been barely posting.

The only water machines by me are inside Wally's and are for spring water not distilled. Wouldn't the spring water cause problems too since it doesn't go through a cleaning process like distilled?

My res is a 10 gallon Rubbermaid container, and I use 6 gallons of water in it. The reason I pull 2 gallons (really it's about 1.5 cause the plants eat about a half gallon), and replace it with fresh is because of the problems I'm having - I'm trying to eliminate anything that could be contaminating the res, like reusing the water.

Burple I am with you on the work part. If you read my old post you would know that. I have found ways not to do work hence my comments to you a few weeks ago bout additives and lights ect. If you want easy and don't need more then a ounce per plant I will help you. I can't do the work involved as others do and had issues but survived them. I used about 6 to 7 gallons of water sometimes weekly or if I couldn't it could have gone 2 weeks. PM me if you want easy. I still think it was a mistake to do it in the heat cause that increases the workload 10 times if not more.

I want as easy as possible!
I really don't need much since I don't smoke to get high, I only smoke to ease the constant pain I am in, and to help me sleep, so I am open to any and all suggestions you or anyone else has to make it easier to grow what I need!

Yeah MC I know, I'm just trying anything and everything I can think of to settle down my PH problems!

164 is borderline high but not horrific. For instance the GH Hard water micro is designed for 200 ppm or more and they state you can mix the hard water micro with the regular micro at your level. Mine's is 350-375 ppm with a 7.5-7.8 ph start point. Of that 164 some of it is good and some not so good. THe ph reacts to it all and it's a matter of playing with it until you find the formula that works for you and then you are set. Key for me was not overeacting to the ph swings as long as they were in range and micro dosing (5ml per tank not per gallon at a time) the ph down. I adjust the ph to 5.7 as a starting point on a res change and then adjust as needed but not a lot at once. You'll know you've gone overboard on the ph swings when your leaves get stripes.

The rule I follow is that things don't happen quickly in nature and they shouldn't happen quickly in my grow room.

For me a combo of cal-mag and one of the zymes compensates for any defieciencies my water creates. I tried RO but it had it's problems too.

Since I use Technaflora nutes, and their "recipe for success" says that the PH level of one gallon of nuted water should be 6.01, this is what I shoot for.
The problem with this is that a) I don't use the B-1 Red that is supposed to be included in the recipe, and b) I'm using the "recipe" at half strength, like the guy from the hydro store told me too.
Tomorrow night (Sunday - 4 weeks since I put the germed seeds in) when I do my D&R, I am planning on going up to 2/3 of the recipe and see how that works, since my ppm is kinda low (around 450-500 not deducting the 164 of my water).

I took a couple of pictures that are blurry (I don't know if it's me or my neighbor's camera), but show somewhat of what my leaves are looking like that I will be adding to my gallery in a few minutes if you (or anyone else) would like to look and make any comments.

I understand your water issues and not wanting to recontaminate your tank but if you are pulling tank water and using clean bottles it shouldn't be an issue. You are only going to reuse it till a tank change.

Read the machine at wally world you may be surprised that it is filtered. I thought a bunch of machines weren't and when read more closely they were. I agree with MC that sink water has many advantages but I was unable to get the PH correct with it. You will have some calcium deficiency with filtered water.

If the water isn't ro water I would get a gallon and test it if it is cheap. It still might be better then the sink water. Just some thoughts.

I think I will go to Wally's and check it out.
I'll have to see what the price is too since I have no idea!

I worry about contamination because I use a drill pump to pull the water, so it goes through a 3ft length of garden hose, the pump, and then another 3ft of hose, so rather than worry about if it is all clean everyday, I just dump the water.

Im with you on the results im seeing on the first grow. As you may remember, im having ph problems from hell just like you. I will have budz...there are a few nice ones in there...but im thinking of cutting losses and moving 2 the next one (grow 2 is already underway!)
Ill take what i learned and move forward. I think I have fouled the rockwool and can never maintain a good PH until the system is fully cleaned and new materials r in
Soooo...im startin the flush this week...week 8 of flower. We r getting ready to flush both the chambers, give the babies their breakfast, and ready the teenagers for their comming out party.
Ill post some pics in both journals when im done.

I think u will do great once u get the feel of it. Im lookin forward to smokin my own homey. I dont mind if the first crop is a lil small...it can only get better. Dont give up!

I spend a lot experimenting with different things but in reality I could grow for the next two years without buying a thing. Probably spent somewhere in the neighborhood of 3K for all my toys/seeds but then again I've grown between 60-75 oz and $50/oz or less for premo seedless ganja plus all the kief/hash I can smoke and all the vapes, pipes and bongs it's not a bad investment.

I am a perfectionist, and I get frustrated that it's not going as well as it should (in my mind).
I'm too busy stressing out over all the money and time that I have spent so far for what (to me at least) doesn't seem worth it (see my pics).
I still don't even know if I am going through all of this for 6 male plants, since I am using bagseed!
I need to just sit back, just do what I know needs to be done, and let nature take it's course.
If I get anything out of them at all, I'll be happy, and just start all over again!

I'll be looking forward to the pics of the buds you get from grow 1, and good luck on grow 2!

Got a hold of Stealth Hydro this am. They are going to send me out a replacement Ona Gel, (put inside a ziplock baggie per my advice) and they are going to send out more rockwool.

I have a question now about the blown up ona gel all over my DWC kit. How do I wash it out? Will the Ona Gel residue come out? Thanks in advance for your responses!

life is a learning experience... living, working, growing... etc, we are a product of our expereinces from birth right up until now

and yes, I did kill 2 full crops while negotiating the learning curve, 6 plants, twice, at about 4 weeks into flower

I was pretty fearful at that 4 week point on my 3rd attempt

If you have the space and ventilation go with the 400w. You'll be happy you did. T-5's are great for vegging and that's what I currently use myself. But HPS is the way to go for heavier bulkier buds.

I have a 6'x7' closet that is in the center of my house and I will be converting into a grow room. I plan on adding additional lights every month or two until I have ample to fill the room. Ventilation won't be a problem either.
