I can easily see how getting a hose in wouldnt be to hard.

What if you've got an issue and you have to get IN there properly?

Then you have to improvise, adapt, inovate. Careful placement of the plants on a support foundation while you take care of any necessary activities. I have read you should not leave the roots out in the open air for over 15 minutes. It also stated that the roots love the air bath. These are things that I have read on this thread. I am first timer so I'm passing on from the wealth of knowledge located here.

I've got a drain valve on my res so res changes are a snap. Once I start a grow I never remove the plants from the res except for removing the water pump. The roots get plenty of air sitting in the tub with no water. Obviously you won't be lifting your plants out of the res when they are 4' tall, but I haven't found it to be necessary.

I have decided to stop smoking ciggaretts and have been rolling small joints to smoke when I want a CIG, I must say that its working. I went from smoking almost 2 packs a day to not having one sence friday night about 10 pm..I have smoked close to a 1/2 oz this weekend but the craving for a cig has not been that bad..Its the boredom and the normal routine that make me wwant that cig.. get in my truck throw on the seatbelt turn on a cd, light a smoke and throw her in drive..have dinner rinse off the dishes go have a smoke.. I have noticed that the actions of smoking are more of what I crave than the nicotine.. walking the dog I usually smoke one, but I started smoking a pinner joint every time I want that cig. IT IS WORKING LIKE A CHARM..I am writing a paper for a class im taking on the benefits of MMJ and I am going to use MYSELF as A case study.. IF smoking a joint can make me not want to smoke a cig, then I say its time that Marlboro and Camel start selling packs of joints just like they do cigs. So far its working like a charm...IM SO HIGH I am worthless this weekend but IM NO LONGER SMOKING CIGS....
congrats on giving up the evil cigs it's a demon i've yet to face good luck:grinjoint:

has anyone tried to duct tape those frozen ice packs (like the ones for yer lunch box ) to the outside of the res?
i use a belt around the res with two 2 liter bottles of frozen water i found those ice packs don't stay frozen long enough especially if your at work all day
I just did a quick calculation. Two weks ago I heard of a plume of oil heading toward Florida that was 6 miles wide by 22 miles long extending from just below the surface to 3300 feet deep. This volume works out to 93.5 TRILLION gallons of oil in that one, single plume of oil. How many others are out there waiting to hit the shore of your favorite swimming beach as we speak. Or reef, or whatever it will cover with certain death as it spreads across the world.

This is an evil beyond description.
time they realized hemp will save the day for alternative fuel paper ect
My mate had a question: When the plants are big, how do you lift the lid up to get inside the bottom to work? Wouldnt all the plants fall over etc? Wouldnt the top weigh heaps?
i've get my baby out the res every change and clean the res the size it is now its a bit tricky need a little help off the missus to slide a bit of 2b1 under but it can be done

thanks to all with the support of my quitting cigs. I did the math earlier and im basically smoking away the money that I could be paying for the new street bike I realy want.. ( brand new suzuki gsxr 750) Smoking the good stuff is making it alot easier NOT to smoke the bad stuff...

As for my comment about SH. I didnt mean to start a whirlwind on the topic I just was not sure if I had bad luck with them or what..

Roseman I will PM you the order info,, I would like to thank you again for help on the matter. that means more than anything that there are still people out there that will help others just because they enjoy it and its the right thing to do...too damn bad the kids in the world today have not been tought that kindness and being a good neighbor go alot farther than greed and polotics

I PMed you his reply, he says the problem is FED EX is leaving your orders at the gate and someone there is signing for them. He says he has replaced the nutes a total of 4 times and all 4 orders were signed for at the gate or door.
He says theya e sending them again.
He sent you the Fed Ex tracking numbers so you have access to the names of who signed for the other 4 orders.

On the bright side, we'll be able to fry the fish without buying any cooking oil.
Bad joke, huh?

I hope BP keeps it'S promsies to clean up, but even if they do, the seafood industry in FL, AL, LA and TX is up the creek. Restaurants in FL, Alabama and Louisiana are already posting signs saying WE DO NOT SERVE GULF COAST SEAFOOD. In an interview with an Oyster WholeSaler in Florida, he said his sales are down 75% and 75% of his customers have quit accepting orders and he has good oysters going bad from sitting there. He said he is closing his business and all his friends in the seafood business are closing too.

It's a very sad situation.

i just wanted to stop by and say thanks for all the great info on this thread. ive learned allot. All of you guys kick ass. i am just starting to get my feet wet, always did dirt. i am dealing with 100F* temps right now and am afraid of getting root rot, anyone have an idea on what to use to help prevent root rot?

once it cools down i will do a DWC grow. right now i am messing with Hempy buckets but kinda made them my own way. so far its doing great, fast growth, wish i would have went hydro sooner.

Glad you dropped in, bro. I hope you visit us often.

I will never do a grow in June through August again, its just too difficult to keep the water below 70 degrees, even with Central AC.

for my next grow i'm buying 2 ice chest, 1st one will be my res with plants threw the top, 2nd one will be a much smaller one outside my room with my air pump in it and frozen litter bottles in it cooling my pump and the air it's pushing to my air stones in my res. I tested this out a little and works very well. further testing will need to be done

Great idea. Its been proven that an insulated ice chest with thick walls, will hold temps ten degrees cooler than a plain thin walled reservoir.

How exatly would this work? You would put the air pump in a cooler, without water right? and the frozen bottles would be in the cooler, cooling the inside and cooling the air coming from the air pump?

Sorry for being so anal, but this idea sounds like it has some damn good potential and I just want to try to understand it a little more. Today has been a huge day for me personally learning about reservoir cooling (the right way) from a few other people and you seem to have a good idea too.

My mate had a question: When the plants are big, how do you lift the lid up to get inside the bottom to work? Wouldnt all the plants fall over etc? Wouldnt the top weigh heaps?

Copied and pasted from the Tutorial:

I took a one by four board, about 7 inches long, and made me a prop to hold my lid up while I had my hand and arm in the tank. My roots are large, my plants are large, so I am removig the feeder tubes and hub today. I normally do at 4 weeks of Vegging. I took the pump out, cleaned it, replaced the filter and put the pump back in.. It was nasty and I think it was the source of the bad smell. I leave it in, running, to circulate the water and cool it too. I also use it to drain the tank.
I am showing you the pH meter to show you the size of the board.
