Why no trichomes?

Hey Cana-Gurus,

This is my second grow, my first grow (indoors-photo plant) was a huge success with blueberry OG. As soon as the plant started flowering, it was literally shimmering from all the trichomes… absolutely crystals.

The plant growing now is a skunk#1… This one is being grown outdoors and has started flowering but zero trichomes. Early on I started the seed inside and put the plant outside but it triggered flowering. It immediately went back to veg and after about two weeks. Could that have anything to do with it? pictures below.

Strains can be different on that, same as some breeders beans are better worked than others. Sometimes they just late starters and then start throwing out the trichs. A time will tell more so than you are doing anything wrong, as most likely just genetics as plant looks healthy.

nah, I think it just genetics and give it time, some Strains throw them out during pre-flower. Some breeders spend more time on their Strains, and breed for various traits, find the ones you like and grow them and the ones you don't don't ...... But you can just get weird dice rolls on the genetics at times and one bean be different than the rest of the pack too though.

But yeah don't stress over things out of your control, as there is plenty of that as it is in growing and life that worth stressing about instead, besides defeats the purpose of growing as one trying to "chill"

The revegging is stressful for the plant so that may have something to do with the delay, but I'd bet it's more strain and environment related. Inside when you flip you go into instant flower mode at 12 hours of darkness. Outside is a much more gradual process as the dark hours only increase at a very slow pace of minutes per day so it can take a while for the plant to realize it's time to flower. That entire flowering process builds, slowly at first and then gains speed.

Is it difficult to hand water?... I just pour the water in and let it seep...is there method to hand watering that I'm missing???

Proper watering is the hardest thing for a new grower to master, though from the looks of your plants you seem to be doing it pretty well. Most growers will overwater and stunt their plants from root rot.

The idea is to thoroughly soak the pot and then let it dry out completely in veg as this will build strong roots. In flower it's generally best not to let the plant dry out as by then it's in flower producing mode and we want as little stress as possible.

When the medium is dry, especially with peat based mixes, it can be quite hydrophobic and any water applied runs right off, so it takes a while to rehydrate the mix. I find spraying the top of the mix first can help that process along.

WHOA... there has been a few time i let it dry out during veg but not many... this is great to know. Thank you. I am using fox farms "happy frog" (as i was told it was the best) and it is peat based and it does get hydrophobic... I will definitely use the spray bottle in the future... I will keep up with the watering/feeding now in flower and not let it go completely dry. Thank you much!!

I have become insatiable on on the topic of growing.... I only grow one photo a year. (dabbled with autos-but photos are where its at). I have been having issues on this grow with yellowing of leaves which drives me mad as im using distilled water with adequate nutes on schedule (fox farms) and balanced to 6.4 (not using up and down directly either). trying to get things "just right" with this grow is tough. BUT any and all information on the subject of properly growing is super welcome. That is precisely why om here and writing thread. lol

Try using tap water which has some dissolved minerals in it. Might be a different pH from your distilled water so pay attention to that, but I think most bottled nutes are calibrated to either tap or R/O water depending. I grow organically so don't really know from bottled nutes, so I'm not the best source to help you there.
