1600W LED 5x5 Tent

Hows the heat coming off that 1600? im thinking abour a 1200 for my 2x2x5.
Expect high temps but nothing unmanageable. I have the 1200 in a 4x4 with a temperature controller running my ventilation system to minimize costs, but the highest temps I've seen is 82F, but as soon as those fans kick on, temp drops about 6-7 degrees. Depends on your climate too. I expect issues in about 2 months once new England enters 90F and muggy. I'll probably just shut the tent down til the fall rather than fight 100F+ temps.

Hi Agemon, the 1200 puts out about 510 watts. Your square footage is about 4. That would be about 127.5 watts/sq.ft.
I think the general consensus is to use around 50-75 watts/sq.ft. I could be wrong, but the 1200 would seem like serious overkill to me, unless of course, there are future plans for a larger tent.

Silly me, there's always plans for more tent, more light, more yield. :high-five:

Thank you both for your response. My sqftage is 8 and 40 cubic feet. Typo, its 2x4x5. To be honest i just want a light that will fit my tent or be just a bit larger than what i need. No plans at this point for another, although... now that you mention it, some lower power side lighting may be appropriate in the future.

As for now im just looking to get a sufficient light for my tent. Ive been thinking more light faster grow.

I've done a bit more research and it seems the ratio for LED is 30-35 watts per sqft. But you are spot on about the 50-75 for HPS & MH.

Now I'm looking at 450 and 600 watts as both are more than what I 'need' for my size space. The viparspectra has my attention but I could pick up a couple of the Mars Hydro 300's for about the same price.

First world problems...

My temps range from upper 60s with lights off to mid 80s with light on. I don't have any ventilation system or anything. I opened the 2 duct holes in the top of the tent to let heat escape and opened 2 of the vents at the bottom to let cool air in. I have 2 very small cheap crap fans used to keep air circulating. I'll be looking into a fan and carbon filter set up I think. The plants are starting to give off a little smell.

Sounds like the 1200 is the right size for the 2x4 tent. And I was thinking the 50-75 true watts for LED. I'm running a Mars II 400 and a Mars Pro II 160 in a 2x4 tent. Almost identical true wattage (170 + 352) and find it to be just about right.
I originally had just the Mars II 400 in that tent, and although I did most of the grow with only that light, I noticed a huge difference when I added the Mars Pro II 160.

She got strong stem.:goodjob:
Took some pics of the plants without the lights on. Took a few dead leaves from the bottom of the plants. Nothing new to report. The 3 are starting to bud and Smurfberry still hasn't even started yet.

Here are some pics without the LED light on.

I found a deal in the jungle of net down by the river... 600 watt light for $95.00, tough to pass up a deal like that. I feel like I've got a good second option to direct sun in the window. Thanks for the input!

BTW, your plants are looking great!!!!!

You guys think it's time to start adding boost to any of them yet? I went and picked that and pk 13/14 up today. Holy shit talk about having a hefty price tag. Just being my first grow wanna make sure they're getting the nutes when they need them.

Hey Shoupa, guess every girl except of the smurfberry is ready for some boost :) 13/14 you will use just one week in middle of flower anyways so no need to give them any yet. I would add some boost for sure but would gove smurf perhaps another week...she seems to be behind a bit :)
Ya she's just starting to show pistels. Definitely not ready yet.

Raised the lights today noticed a little curling on the THC Bombs top leaves kinda like a taco. They're now the height of a 1 gallon pitcher away from the light. They all got some boost except smurfberry.

Thanks everyone. I think I've found something I'm pretty good at. This grows running super smooth with almost no problems(knock on wood). Anything that's come up I've been able to take care of within a day or so. I have to thank a lot of you guys and the information you've provided. I'm always able to find an answer to anything I have a question about on here. I can't wait til the middle to end of May. Middle of May is when the breeders say the plants should be done so I'm gonna go with end of May for my timeline. Anything that's done before end of May will be a bonus
