3rd Grow: Super Lemon Haze & Gold Leaf

Day 32 - First It seems that I am getting the humidity under control. The miniature dehumidifier is working and has dropped the humidity down to 60% in the middle of the tent and 65% down on the floor of the tent. So far I have pulled almost a pint of water out of the air. A big shout out and thanks to @DrDoob for the suggestion.

Here is a picture of the placement of the little machine. It's actually quite small if you compare it to the bucket it's sitting next to. It also only uses around 23watts so it's actually rather energy frugal.

Here's a photo of all the plants and there is still plenty of room. Of course three of them have been defoliated so that helps. This grow does appear to be producing more buds and thicker buds than the previous grow. Especially the Gold Leaf colas. They are looking quite yummy.

I figure that I'm at least 5-6 weeks from harvest. My goal is about 6wks out. Harvest needs to be done, or at least the plants need to rest in darkness between Nov 27 to Dec 1st. That wouldn't be a bad thing actually. My second goal is to have at least 3 weeks curing before Xmas when @FelipeBlu is back down visiting. Looking good on all the numbers.

I took it apart and disconnected the LEDs so they didn't glow
Wow! I didn't even consider the little LED on the front causing light in my dark schedule. It is green so not sure how much it will affect things. I think I will put some black electric tape of perhaps some duct tape over it just to be safe.

I just noticed that when my eyes adjusted to the dark I could really see by that light. No idea if the plant cared but I figured better safe than hermied.

Green light is generally considered safe, but if all it takes is a piece of electrical tape...

Agreed, however who really knows what the actual spectrum is. Not taking any chances, especially since the answer is so simple.

Good Morning A little bud porn from the flower tent. Some close up pictures of one of the Gold Leaf Buds
Filling out and packing and stacking. This one is about 5in long already.

I have done a sample test smoke with my Arizer Dry Vape and a Bong and the high is extremely nice. Very deeply relaxing and pain releasing. Still a little early for a true taste with a regular bong hit and flame. I'm looking forward to a proper taste test with @FelipeBlu. By the first of December it should be nicely cured and very nice. Right now it's extremely sticky breaking apart and grinding for the vape. Glad I'm growing an additional two plants to add to my stock of a couple of ounces.

Day 38 - I continue to be impressed by the size of the buds on the Gold Leaf plants.
It seems they are much larger than the previous grow. Considering these are 38 days since flip they still have some distance to go. They are packing it on and using the temp/humidity sensor directly next to them is gives a great representation of the size. The sensor is about 4 inches tall and an inch wide.

I am going to take a bit of a guess here. I'm showing the buds from the plant that wasn't defoliated between the two GL's. It appears that the buds are significantly larger and packing on more weight than the plant that was defoliated. If this continues through to harvest and the yield comparison shows a significant difference it could be a game changer for me on the defoliation idea. The only thing I'm feeling right now as a detriment to no defoliating is the increase in humidity I had a couple of weeks ago. With the little dehumidifier and a return to normal San Diego weather and lower humidity that isn't an issue at this time. Humidity is back around 52-55%.

Branches are getting really heavy and beginning to lean over. Feel I'm going to need to put some stakes in and tie the branches to them to straighten things back out. Still have several weeks to harvest so need to prepare for the long haul.

Just found the new journal all caught up. The plants are looking great and stacking nicely.
Thanks for stopping by and catching up. Glad to have you along. I've got another grow I started about 4wks ago. It's my UK Cheese Auto Grow. It's my first Auto grow attempt and looking very good. You're more than welcome to stop by there and check it out.

The SLH are getting really top heavy and leaning over. Feel I'm going to need to put some long stakes in and tie them up a little to keep them exposed to the light better and not blocking light for of the others. The Gold Leaf appear to have much thicker buds but are shorter and perhaps the branches are stockier.

I'm beginning to see over the last few days a amber/orange darkening of top most pistils on some of the plants. Most specifically the Gold Leaf, only the top most buds of some of the SLH's. Everything looks positive for another 4-5wks. End goal at this point is hoping to harvest or put them in darkness before November 27th.

Congrats on the need for stakes. It’s awesome how every grow gets better and better. FYI I used bamboo stakes last time and after I harvested and pulled the stakes the buried part looked kind of questionably moldy/decomposed. Not sure if it’s even an issue but I’m going to be using plastic stakes for all my hempies from now on.

Day 43 - I'm having a difficult time staying away from the Bud Porn. The colas on the tops of the Gold Leafs are really filling in and plumping up in the most awesome way. These pictures show a size reference.
I'm going to say that the plant that wasn't defoliated appears to be taking the lead in the amount of building that is going on. That was part of this grow to see if there was any measurable difference in yield between the two techniques.

At this point I'm beginning to lean in the direction of no more bikini waxes for my girls. No trimming, clipping or plucking. I want them full and bushy as nature intended.

The last grow of the donor plants never did this well as this grow just barely past the 6wks since the flip.
