Sorry but thank god I had the knowledge and understanding of what not doing the right things from the onset would do and I still have all my limbs.... I do know from treating patients in the hospital dealing with amputation that the phantom pain is pretty intense... My x shot his leg off... I don't know what to say about all that... but his family said he dealt with it horribly... That was probably karma at play... Just sayin ' but I've never been close enough to anyone outside the hospital to even suggest trying it....:circle-of-love::circle-of-love:

Exactly Dennise. We often have card games at the folks house and Uncle is usually there. When he gets these pains, even after two years since the amputation, it will cause him to almost fall out of the chair. It's awful to watch, and his addiction to the Oxy's only means he has to take a slew of them to have any real anti-phantom effects. Then he's not in condition to do anything. He's too loaded with drugs.
He is constantly reaching to itch something that isn't there.
I feel so bad for him.

Maybe if you told your Uncle that CCO can get him euphoric, he might try it that way. He's not taking the Oxy's for pain anymore.

It was Dale's prescription for Oxys that sent me looking for growing advice and led me here. The thought of him on those pills scared the beejeezers out of me. After the first prescription we traded them for cannabis. It did more for the pain than the pills and wasn't going to wreck his system.

You touched on something that makes perfect sense. Back in the day, he was quite the weed user in addition to moonshine. Funny how he talks about people using marijuana as"druggies" now..... Men in glass houses and all........
Appealing to his former reasoning of why he smoked weed back then might be the trick, although I'm sure he didn't do it for pain management. LOL

Cannafan, I was thinking the same thing. Get your uncle to substitute weed for the oxy and he might get healthy as a side effect.

I cannot believe how good I feel. I must have started tacking regularly following Tim's program sometime in Dec. Before that, it was edibles, and I do love an edible high (but without sugar). I did "tack" when I had cancer in late '13-early '14. Now I crave things that are good for me, can't stand the taste of sugar, I stop drinking wine sooner than I used to, my fat seems to be melting...I already mentioned that I quit several Rxs, right? I'm on a regular exercise program, and I actually enjoy the workouts and the feeling of air going in and out of my lungs (I get into "the zone" much more easily than I used to), so maybe I can get off the asthma meds someday, too. Those are my only Rxs. I now tack 3-4x a day. Yesterday at a bluegrass jam, several friends told me I looked good and well. I told one or two of them what I am doing.

Somebody on here shared a cannabis tea recipe, stewing trim in water for a few hours. I love that, and it tastes sorta like tea. I add it to other drinks. Must find that person and thank them!

I was told by supergroomer to post my story in this thread in hopes that someone maybe can help.

I came across a link to this thread during a search for treatments of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis and how CBD oil helped someone with it. Treatment of Pulmonary Fibrosis
Reading that post has really given my father and our family a new hope that things can get better.

I live over in China with my father who is now 71 years old. He has suffered from an irregular heart beat and blood pressure problems for years. The doctors here have been attempting to treat him for those conditions for years with a bunch of different pills and medicine and it has helped with those problems. However recently about 2-3 months ago he started to have problems with his oxygen levels and started to feel really weak and tired. Because of that he had a lung specialist check him out and he was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. The lung doctor said it was most likely a result from the Medicine he had been taking for so long to control his blood pressure and irregular heart beat.

We decided that the best course of action for him right now is for us to move back to California to be near all of our family and to try to get some alternative treatment. I would really like him to try out CBD oil to see if it helps him. Has anyone else here on the thread heard of CDB oil helping patients with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis? If so can you share your stories or any advice and contacts to providers or dispensaries that provide high CBD oils for medical use?

HI Leon,

I am so sorry about the things your father and your family are going through with this. I have not had any personal experience with IPF, so I really cannot say anything on that in specifics as to helping ease it.

I will do a little digging tonight and see if I can find anything more for you in the way of information or testimonials that give details on treatment.
Hopefully someone else on the thread here will have some information for you.

Thanks for posting your story. The more we learn on the different things that cannabis oil can help, the more people we can help.

I know that the Concentrated Oil helped with my COPD, which is a lung issue. I was able to breathe better during the day and I didn't feel like I couldn't get a deep breath while lying down at night as much as without the oil. I am unable to take the oil due to job searches right now, and I've been off for a little over a month now. I have the symptoms that I did before I started on the oil.

IPF is more serious than, but has some similar things to COPD, and although there is no known cure for IPF, the symptoms of it can be controlled and eased with Cannabis according to the article below.

The clip below states what those symptoms are, and it talks about studies that have been done.
In the clip, they talk about vaping being the preferred method because smoking it is going to be very harsh on the lungs.
The article does not give a date of posting, so I have no idea if CCO/RSO had even been thought of then.

MEDICAL MARIJUANA AND PULMONARY FIBROSIS: CLINICAL EVIDENCE

When many people think about medical marijuana, they think about the analgesic uses that are the result of the THC found in marijuana. While medical marijuana certainly can be an excellent pain reliever, it also contains other properties that are of medicinal use. For example, Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a major component of medical marijuana. Recent clinical studies have shown that CBD contains properties that helped to relieve convulsion, inflammation and anxiety in study participants.
Along with the anti-inflammatory benefits of medical marijuana, sufferers of IPF can also benefit from the anti-anxiety effect of using medical marijuana. Clinical studies have reported that many patients do feel a calming, relaxing effect after using medical marijuana; however, some report an increase in anxiety. The differences in individual body chemistry are believed to be the root of the disparity among results.
Because idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis affects the lungs, a sufferer may have a seriously comprised respiratory system. As a result, the traditional manner in which marijuana is used -- smoking medical marijuana -- may not be a good idea for anyone suffering from IPF. There is, however, another healthier mechanism that is equally effective for using medical marijuana - vaporization. Cannabinoids, one of the active compounds found in medical marijuana, are volatile, meaning they can be vaporized at relatively low temperatures. In effect, this means that the marijuana can be turned into vapor without high temperatures that could cause combustion or smoke. The hot air can then be drawn through the marijuana which will cause the cannibinoids to vaporize. Once the cannabinoids have been vaporized they can be easily inhaled.

I wish that when people post articles like this that mention "recent clinical studies", they would post the links to the studies! Ah well....

Note: The oil helps tremendously to control depression and bring up energy levels. Leon, I'm sure that with everything going with your father, there is depression and lack of energy among other things.

I know that I don't have it as bad as you do, but I hate that feeling of pressure and not getting enough air. I had to borrow some inhalers from Pops this week just to ease it up a bit. He's got Emphysema, and one lung hardly functions at all. I don't know how he does it....foundry work did it to him.

Albuterol, Exactly what I have. Blech..but it does relieve it enough to relax and try to sleep. I don't notice it as much.
My Dad hates the stuff too.
