H1gherD1mensionz 2nd Microgrow: Gelato Auto

Day 54

Since I've been using distilled water my method of mixing the nutes has changed. First I will mix all the nutes in 300ml of distilled water which puts the pH under 7 and then add the bottled water which brings it higher. Finally I'll use the acv to reach the desired pH. I'm able to use less acv now like this.

Before feeding I ran some plain pH 6.2 water through the pot which gave a run off of 6.8. Bumped up the bloom nutes, wondering if I should start giving the max dose or stay around 1/2?

Feed: 700ml water, 1.5ml activera, 0.15ml grow, 2,ml bloom, 0.3ml topmax, ?ml apple cider vinegar to pH.

Day 55, Week 3 flower

She is looking better compared to last week, I'm hopeful. We also have a double headed top which is cool. Some of the leaves have a reddish hue to them so I'm hoping she doesn't stay too upset and bounces back strong.

Since we're talking mutations, here is a stylish 8 blade leaf:

Day 58

Feed: 800ml water, 1.7ml activera, 0.3ml grow, 3ml bloom, 0.3ml topmax, 1/2 tsp microbes, 0.7ml apple cider vinegar to pH 6.1, 800ppm

Day 60

She is recovering from the pH issues and the leaves are starting to point back up. Frost is also starting to develop now and it smells strongly of dirty socks. It has been very warm the past few days so I've had to dim the light down to 25% which puts the temps between 26-27C, bit too hot for my liking but the plant seems to be okay with it.

Also did some training and spaced out some of the colas slightly, the cola on the front-left which rivals the once main cola has been the tallest and most aggressive. Plucked a couple of yellow leaves in the shade and have removed a few new bud sites at the bottom. This Gelato really has a tendency to shoot out these long stems from the base, hard to get a good shot in the small space.

Day 66

I'm still having trouble accessing the website. Everything is going good with plant. She is managing with high temps of 29C. I've increased the feed to max dosage to give 900ppm as she seems to be very hungry as I've taken a handful of lower yellow fan leaves now. Buds are getting thicker and the sock smell is slowly becoming sweeter.

Day 70 (37 days flower)

Things have been going smooth. She is definitely a hungry feeder as leaves go yellow super fast when its close to feed time. I've been plucking off a few leaves every other day. Keeping the light between 23-40% intensity to maintain under 30C as the temps are staying warm lately. She is getting fatter and producing some nice spears for me.

Day 76 (Week 6 flower)

The weather is very hot right now so the temps are staying high at 28-31C. Humidity was around 45-50% but I decided to try and crank up the humidity to 60% because of temperature. I researched VPD a little and mine was saying 2.1 which is too high, not much I can do about the temp though as I really don't want to go below 25% on the light because the PPFD would only be around 500-600 and below. As for finishing I'm guessing around 2-3 weeks, these Gelatos seem to quite long. A faster strain would have been ideal in these weather conditions as we approach the hot point in the UK now.

Day 84

Getting closer to the finish line as the calyxes are beginning to really swell up. We've had a nice cool period after that strong heat so the environment conditions have been favourable, allowing me to put the light to 35% which gives me a PPFD of 750-950 (phone app).

I've been hitting her with nutes at max strength since she is definitely a hungry girl as shown by how quickly she was consuming her leaves near to feed time. I was able to slow that down by adding slightly more grow nutes and extra bloom.

The microscope is now out and peeking. All the trichromes are pretty much cloudy with perhaps 1% amber coming through. I'm thinking I've got 1-2 weeks left. What say ye?

I love how they look mate. Nice work
Thanks mate it's been a wrestling match but she's come through in the end. I must admit though, I've been slightly disappointed with the frost if you compare it to my little white widow grow.

Day 87

The buds are swelling up for real now, fat calyxes all over. She is still spitting out fresh bud growth and hairs with not much amber coming in yet. I'd really like her to finish up soon because I will need to be away in a few weeks and don't want to mess up these last crucial moments. I'm thinking now is the time to start just giving her plain pH'd water to push her to the finish and ripen the buds. Ideally I'd like to harvest in 2 weeks from now, perhaps even a week.

Good morning @H1gherD1mensionz garden looks fantastic my friend.
Unfortunately they are still throwing white pistols.
I hope you have enough time before you leave.
Looks like a couple weeks left.

This is the hard part watching trichomes and waiting for the right moment to chop

Thank you @Bill284 she is eager to get fatter and it will be a race against time now. Never expected her to go this long.

This is the hard part watching trichomes and waiting for the right moment to chop
I could probably chop right now and be okay since they are pretty much mostly cloudy. We'll see how it looks in 1 week to make the judgement.

Day 91 - 65 days flower*

*I went over my phone app diary and decided I had stated the flower time a week late. So where today would be 8 weeks of flower, we are actually in week 9 of flower.

After her last feed of nutrients on day 85 it took the plant 5 days to get thirsty compared to the usual 3. From here I'm only giving her 1ltr plain pH'd water for 1 more week before harvest on week 10 of flower. Today I notice the smell of the plant has definitely increased along with more dense trichromes around the calyxes.

Now I was listening to a Mr. Grow It interview the other day and he said he defoliates a little on the last week to help ripen the lower buds by removing blocking fan leaves. The logic makes sense to me so I took a handful of fan leaves off to create some space for those lower buds, and some stress might cause the plant to produce more trichromes right... and the smell that came off the plant while defoliating was amazing. A peppery sweet floral scent.

Day 96

I've given the plant her last watering with 500ml distilled water that I forgot to pH. My research leads me to believe its better to have her on the dryer side come harvest since it ensures there isn't too much moisture in the plant during drying and the stress of no feed and less water will cause more resin production. Of course these things are always debatable and could be broscience but I like the logic there.

There hasn't been much fade since the water only period, would probably take two solid weeks. I was feeling petty though and took off a few fan leaves. I also observed 2 nanners emerging from the main cola which definitely signals her end.

In 2 days I will began the 48hrs dark period before the harvest on day 100.

Beautiful my friend.
But do you really think she is ready. :Namaste:
I see a lot of white pistols still. A lot.
