Hi 420Magazine fam,
Got a small problem I was wondering if someone more experienced in Digital Ballasts could help.
Ok so I have a 600w Digital dimmable ballast made by Techone. This is the ballast......
The other day I come back from work and my fuse box has tripped. I switch the thing back on but when I do my ballast is no longer working.
I think I heard that if the bulb isnt working then digital ballasts wont ignite. Is this true? That may not be the problem though as I cant get it on to check.
First question is, would a tripped fuse blow a 600w hps bulb?
And second question, if thats not the case is there any reason a ballast wouldn't work after a fuse tripping out?

Hey JBC just coming threw to check on you ya know.
As for the ballast there could be a couple things that went wrong. I havent heard of the ballast brand before so was it bought brand new?
And did you use a extension cord? If so that may have blown the ballast because you have to check the amp/gauge/watts the cord will allow.
And when you blew the circuit that may have blown the ballast as well. Depending on how your house is wired up and what all runs to what on the breaker to much on that same breaker line will blow anything out thats plug up to that socket or room.
I would either go buy a cheap bulb and see that way or put my ear to the ballast and see if the fan is running or some type of life in it.

Its funny you say that wiz because all was good until my GF switched my extension for a splitter then 2 week late the thing went. I rang the shop where I bought it and the guy said he will take it back so i'l just do that and get a new one.
Not only has my ballast broke but so has my camera and can't get a new one until the end of the month, so cant get the bud pictures up yet but will soon as poss.
Sorry for being lazy on here recently been mega busy and had a few home problems and things breaking like camera , ballast and laptop charger, all at the same time ish. Dam tech costs too much money when it breaks.
But here is the pics I entered for POTM, the last ones I took before camera broke.....

Nice grow JBC. Im impressed about the results youve got. I was just on ebay bidding on an item and sad to say I lost becasue of looking at your girls. Buts its all good because it was worth it reps

Haha sorry man, thanks for compliment , means a lot she doing ok in POTM, I cant believe it! Thanks to whoever is voting for me, never won anything before. I'd be lying if I said I dont want to win, i'd love too! haha. Fingers crossed as its only just started and there some beautiful girls in there. May get blown out of the water soon enough.

Looks good Jb. I am quicky becoming a fan of the super soil myself. The fade on your POTM entry is beautiful buddy great work.

Just checked my memory card from the camera and seen I still had 4 pictures still on it after the camera broke.
Here's the big sister and one of the one in POTM.
The dry weight between the 3 was 155g which wasn't too bad but obviously like everyone else , I wanted a bit more. I mean I used to pull 2 per plant just using CFL's. The ballast breaking at the end of flower and being cut a tiny bit short didnt help though.
I will have a camera soon again and will post dry bud and kief pictures. Got over 7g of kief, some scissor hash and finger hash
A great result there JB, over 2oz a plant is great. Lovely pics of the others too. Your gonna win the POTM for sure.

Well its just short of 2 oz a plant as there are 3 of them. Should of gone longer but the ballast said otherwise

Got me a kief tumbler myself recently As a matter of fact I'm going to freeze some fully dried trim for an hour today (after I crumble it up in the bag) and then tumble it through the first screen cylinder (140 mesh; 15 minutes first run) and collect kief from the plastic sheet underneath. Then I quickly transfer to the second screen cylinder, tumble again (110 mesh; 45 minutes second run) and collect the next kief; which to me seems as clean as the first run, so I just mix them together. Then I refreeze the trim and do the 110 mesh screen again for my third run, collect and set aside in a small plastic container to add to doobs. The first 2 runs I put the kief in the corner of a baggie, finger press it into a flat square, fold the baggie around the square shape, and put inside a wet hand towel to press flat with a clothes iron set on low. There's my poor chimp's hash.....

Sounds cool, what screens were they? Was it like hash screens with different micron screens? How many G of kief you get?
I have been saving all my trim for a Dry Ice extraction but decided to finger a load through a trichome catching grinder for a while though a normal grinder ,metal hash screen. The results were amazing off dry trim. Got 7.somthing grams and put the into a cheap hash press and got loads of cool disc shapped kief slabs.

Are metal halide lamp supposed to make a bit of noise?
It's pretty much the same screens as the bubble bags, just stapled around two round plywood ends. I'll weigh it out the next time I press some, but it usually takes a few plant trims to get enough. I'll post a pic of the tumbler I use as well. I'm guessing this method I use isn't the best for total extractions, seeing as how I don't get much.....
It's clean, though.....
My magnetic ballast did, but my digital doesn't seem to as much. At least not loud enough to notice it.

Yeah I want one of them hash screens. Still a good way to do it and clean like you say.
Not the ballast but the bulb itself. My digital ballast is really quiet besides the fan in it spinning. its the bulb itself it was making a ringing sound when I turned it on.
I got the ballast swapped at the shop and brought home a new one. I plugged it in an the ballast came on but not the bulb so I switched it on again and the bulb came on but was ringing. Then I touched the cable coming off the lamp and into the ballast and al electric sound was made like a shorting electricity surge. I turned it off and back on again and the thing wont fire now.
Is it my electrics that is blowing them or the cable on the lamp I am using?
Any help anyone because I have to take a second one back broke now, or it it dodgy TechOne ballasts?
