Maer's 540W Advanced LED — G13/Haze - DIY 4" PVC Revised StevehmaNFT Grow

Once the bud porn starts, they will come.

Well in that case here is a preview from the last grow. This is with my $40 usb microscope.

Well today I swapped out 3 gallons of water with fresh RO, the pH rose to 6.2 so I added 3 tablespoons of grow big and it was back down to 5.8 and 760ppm. Here are some pics of the clones and roots.

Seems 10 days of being in there, there should be more roots. Only in the last 3 days have I brought the temps down with ice water bottles... these clones really need to win. I forgot to say I got back my light today from Advanced LED, it is now pulling 164W, still less than the other Advanced 180 (188W) and the "other" brand LED (193W).

Either way I swapped that out for the all blue, I thought maybe they need some other wavelengths to root, I dunno, I don't think it can hurt. Hopefully the micros in the grow big will help too.

Nice I was starting to feel lonely with just me and Steve.

I'm wondering if your addition of Grow Big to the reservoir is retarding root development? I never had luck with those cloners, gave my Botanicare 8 site away. I'm anxious to see how this Advanced LED unit works out for you!

Subbed +rep :high-five:

Well I just added the GB yesturday, what I was told was that once the clones show roots they should be given some nutes.

It looks like I might be going 100% SGE on this grow. I worked out the cost of the chiller, pump, CO2 generator, CO2 - Humidity - Temp controllers. Budget is about $1900. The only thing I am not buying right now is the water cooled dehumid, I figure I will not need that until next summer.

So after more research I found that with SGE there is no way you can get by without a dehumid, and another $1200 is out of the question. O well, next time.

Google showed me a bate of dehumidifiers for $200. Does the water-cooling part cost another grand? Unless you're in some hell-hole like Phoenix or Miami, winter's coming. Extra heat should be easier to deal with, for 6 or 7 months.

Yea water cooled dehumid is 1200, winter is coming (yay Game of Thrones) but in a sealed environment I think a normal dehumid would be a no no.

Hey Maer, checking out your grow. Give the cloner time and they'll produce. What light cycle do you have for the cloner?

I have researched and 24/0 is good until they have roots.

Re: Maer's 540W Advanced LED – G13/Haze - DIY 4" PVC Revised StevehmaNFT Grow

I ordered a 1/2HP EcoPlus chiller today, some float valves, bulkhead adapter for my setup. I also ordered my CES nutes here is the lineup:

1 GALLON MICRO
1 GALLON BLOOM
1 GALLON GROW
1 QUART MAG AMPED
1 QUART PLANT AMPED (Calcium)
1 QUART UNCLE JOHN'S BLEND
1 QUART SUGAREE

I will be going with this trying to emulate Stevehman's results in his grow 3.0, his yield was about 20.5 ounces in a similar space. He had CO2 enrichment and 200 more watts so we will see how close I can come.

My last grow in soil with FF trio yielded about 14 ounces, but those plants had 3 months of root development... so like everything its a crap shoot how all these factors will balance out. I am betting root development doesn't count for as much, those plants also had a lot of stress from being so large and packed in a 2x6 space.

I have heard the mantra "More roots equal more buds" too many times.
Water with mineral salts must be drawn up from the upper plant. There's no pumping mechanism in the roots. Too, all must pass the bottleneck of the stem. If one plants in a big container and veg's for months, 'trees' will bloom productively, but... In a closet, veg time and size are a waste. Smaller but more numerous plants yield more for the space/time available.

I'm with PG on that one. I just found out that 2 weeks of veg is a week too long for me.

I think the sugafree is a new product, it wasn't out when I ran grow 3.0.

I think you'll be fine without the extra 200 watts, the real producer in that setup was the 180 Advanced unit, so you'll do just fine.

Do you have the new Diamond Series lights in there now?
