After my first try and fail on hydro (DWC) I have to change my system. Besides that, I have to find a cheaper way to try myself in hydro growing instead of burning expensive seeds... - so I decided to take two seeds and grow them to mother plants.

It's my first time having mother plants and grow with cuttings.

Cause of my skills as the goodfather of hydro:snowboating:😟 I choosed to grow them on regular soil.

I took the two seeds and put 'em separated in wet paper towels.

The paper towels I wrapped up in clear film and put it into Tupperware.
I put them in my living room and covered it with a towl to give'em darkness for germination.

I couldn't await!
Already just after waking up, I had to take a look. - How should they have been generated already after just six hours... :yummy:

But later on that evening/ night, I decided to take another look.
And guess what I saw? Both have/ are on the way to generate! :woohoo::ganjamon:
I could have planted them yesterday already, but I decided to wait another.

Today I want to put them in soil.
I went to our local hardware store and bought standard soil I used already years ago in my cellar grows.

I did bad experiences with overwatered Jiffys last time, so I decided to plant them directly to their new home. Usually I used plastic cups but in meanwhile you only can buy paper ones caue of ecological reasons. So I decided for the next smalest one.

I took soil and mixed it up. I had some opened root activator left, so I mixed it under the soil and filled the cups up to 3/4. I sprayed some water on the soil and let it sit for a while to get used to the water. I didn't check any water quality like I'm used from hydro. I just used std tab water.

I gave it some time and rolled a joint in meanwhile... :ganjamon:

I watered the cups carefully, so that I won't mess up the structure of the soil by doing it to hard.
When finished that, guess what... - right it has to seep away and needs time for that. So time for me to have some more smokes... :lot-o-toke:

With a pen I digged a hole for the seeds in the middle of each pot and placed the seeds carefully in it.
I gently pressed the soil and put a little light pice on top of it to give it more cover.

I sprayed again some water on the fresh planted babes and used the clear film to give each pot dome for the next days/ week.

I have to get used to this new pot sizes. But maybe it was even a wise choise. I remember that this soil keept it's nutrients for a couple of weeks. The manufactorer even claims up to 8 weeks. We'll see...

I couldn't believe what I saw when I woke up, it looks like they are growing fast!
The Blue Sunset Sherbert showed up already, and the Girl Scout Cockies is close to it too! You can see the seed already.

I still got my grow tent running for the dwc tests, so I placed them in the corner. They are under 250w MH right now. The lamp hight is about 1,20m/ 4.5 in.
I gave 'em 3-4 sprays tab water and covered them with my roof of my cultivation box.

Around midnight
, after having nice Do-Si-Dos (Canada) and Legendary Larry (Australia) smokes I decided to start the four left seeds too. My hydro try is lost, so I have to do anything else...
I will grow 'em on soil too and take cuttings to try me on hydro again. :nomo:
But that's another topic....

Whatever.... so I took out my paper towel, clear film, Tupperware and towel again.
I set up the last two Girlscout Cockies (zamnesia) and the las two Blue Sunset Sherbert (Barney's Farm).

At noon I took a look and couldn't realy see anything. I just could see that the seeds started to swell and try to break.

Couldn't await cause I'm a curious guy... so I took another look.
Honestly I didn't expect anything, cause I just took a look about 12hrs ago, and they are just 24hrs young.

So I was astonished and happy to see this: all seeds are germinated!!!:woohoo:
But I will leave 'em at least till midnight or next day.

Thanks for that advise @Ke0ncp !
The pic was von yesterday night, just when I put em in soil. I put the roofs off alreay a few hours later.
I only water the plants by spraying for now. The soil didn't even let water out. So it looks more wet than it is.

This is right now, 24 hours after they got planted in soil.

The ladies growing. The Girl Scout Cookie in the back throw of her helmet today. So now they are all ready to go...
They wanted to see more light, so I lowered my lamp today to 45cm/ 17".
I gave 'em a little bite more air flow too and lowered the fan to lamp hight.

1. week after I started the germination

Looks like they are feeling well under the 250w MH lamp during this period. - Had the lamp running for some dwc tests, otherwise I would use my old set of fluorescent tubes.

Give me a few more grows and then I'll switch to LED, too. I just had these old setting laying around....

Yesterday I gave 'em a little bit of my F-Max hydro solution to drink, looks like they liked it.
Have the feeling they are growing fast.

It was to early to go with fertilzer on the plants. - Please don't ask me why I am that stupid! I never did it that way, because I know there is more than enough fertilizer in that soil for a few weeks!

In former times I used to start feeding them first time when they got to flower... - but for any reason I do it totally different this time. 🫣
Maybe it's because I'm almost 10 years older now or it is this legalization thing that you act differnt now... - I don't know.

Day before yesterday I put more soil in the pots to give them more stability.
And don't ask me why, but I took again my solution to feed them!

Today, during watering the plants with that stupid nutrient solution (EC 0,9 & 6,5 PH) I noticed little nutrient burn on one of the Blue Sunset Sherbert. Luckyly i watered to much that I had a little overrun. For any reason - I never did that before in my life, it came to my mind to check the EC and PH since I'm able to measure it now.
Glad that I did! I had 5 to even 7 EC in the water!!!😱🫣

So no way around, I took my PH- and brought my tab water to EC 0,3 and 6,5PH and started flushing the plants. With a satisfying result: on the last Gril Scout Cookies I had 0.9EC and 6.5PH in the drain.

From now on I will try to do like I once used to do...

The pictures of the plants are about an hour after flushing. I gave 'em more airflow to help getting rid of the moisture. No new drainage, so looks good so far.

...just a fewe update pictures.

I left the alone since I flushed the soil. Looks like they are doing good. The soil is already dry in the upper part, but still got to much moisture in the bottom of the pots. I can feel it from the weight, but no drainage after flushing at all.
I put the fan more down to the pots, trying to get fresh air underneath.

I noticed that the spots on the downer leaf tips grew. I think it's sill because of that EC problem I just solved. For me the symptoms are looking like nutrient brand.

To ensure the heat won't get to much, I put the lampe on 17.5"/ 45cm.
I had always around 80.5°F/ 27°C at the plants. With the new hight I could get the temperature at leat one degree down.
