420's Bettybud - The Widow - Indoor Grow - 2014

Re: 420's Bettybud-The Widow-Indoor grow-2014

Sorry busy couple of days so been quiet, not had much time with the plants so they've kinda just been left to do their thing.. I don't know maybe they just don't like me, I leave them all alone and they shoot up 2 inches!

Yes i went ahead and ordered PH up.. d'oh! and it's already arrived, PH down now on the way. Not much else to report really, I shall probably wait and update again after I have treated my soil with the PH down. thanks again guys for your help so far :thanks:

Re: 420's Bettybud-The Widow-Indoor grow-2014

depending on ur water...but usually most people just need ph down....alittle goes a long way....and i had similar issue at first but again the ph is allowing things to dissolve so if its high then ull end up getting different issue since the plant cant take in the nuts it needs.... which if u dont do ur reading u can end up trying to fix something else and create root block... for now just get ph balanced....iv been told not worry about it to much but....im learning its better to worry about it especially when ur a beginner....

im sure uv heard this but different types grow different....so unless they are all same type its a good thing they rnt exactly alike....iv been reading about it and some r very picky others will take w.e. u throw at them...some cant get enough nuts....all kinds......

word to the wise...what i was told....better to make sure u know what the issue is any give it some time...then rush and try to fix it and maybe cause more issues...sometimes it even fixes itself....

keep an eye on humidity....i think u have something in there right.....

ull be fine.....this forum helped me tons...as long as u ask for help and share someone should be able to help u out

Re: 420's Bettybud-The Widow-Indoor grow-2014

Been thinking about my watering, i think my problem was maybe not giving them enough, like i never watered until it came through the bottom of the pot.. gave them a good soaking today so i'll see how they react, staying away from nutes until i get the PH right.

Started LST today, i heard bad things of sticking metal in the soil so i've poked holes in the top ring of the pot and used string, i'll gradually work around the pot but need to look into this further, as i don't know how long it should be stretched each way.

Could anyone tell me how to upload a profile pic? tried a couple of times but haven't seen any option for it..

thanks Cgo, yes this site has helped me a s**t ton, my plants would probably be dead without this journal! I've got a meter in the tent and an ice cream tub full of water, seems to have fixed the humidity issue.

Re: 420's Bettybud-The Widow-Indoor grow-2014

User cp/settings/change profile pic ..... Your Ph will be easier to control if you had a way of testing your water. Its good to know the soil level but a Ph pen or even a cheap aquarium test kit will help, especially when you start mixing nutes. Most water is high Ph and needs Ph down. Most nutes will drastically drop your Ph so then you may need the Ph up. Without a way to test your water it will be impossible to determine which way you need to go.

Re: 420's Bettybud-The Widow-Indoor grow-2014

That will work! Then you can see what is going on with your water before hand. Also as I said, once you start mixing nutes you will have no idea what your Ph is (my nutes drop my 8.5 water down in the high 4`s - low 5`s, so i always have to add Ph up when i feed). You can also do a "slurry" test, mix equal parts of your soil and water to test to see how your soil buffers your water. Main thing is you have to get something to test the water before you start feeding so you can see what the nutes do to the water and adjust accordingly. And no, a few minutes a day to collect some bud porn will not hurt them a bit. :laughtwo:

Re: 420's Bettybud-The Widow-Indoor grow-2014

Massive growth in the last few days! especially from the seed that I got free which i think is Sativa dominant, leaves are huge already too!
Still big problems with one of my plants but should soon be fixing my PH. Feel so bad, been soooo busy with work and some other stuff I have going on, not really been spending enough time watching the plants.

Ordered the pen, thanks PB. So what your saying there about nutes bringing the ph down.. could i mix up some nutes, check the PH and then just add PH up until it's spot on?

I would really like to get a date on my calendar to switch the plants to flower, I need the grow tent completely packed away for 1st October, any suggestions on the best time to do this? I was thinking about 15 July?? this hobby really does require patience, I always find time in the morning to look at the plants before doing anything else, like i'm expecting bud already! :yummy:

Re: 420's Bettybud-The Widow-Indoor grow-2014

Thats exactly what i have to do with my nutes/water. (Most nutes tend to lower Ph). As for flipping them into flower, you can do it whenever. The longer they veg the better the yield will be. Just keep in mind they will need 8-10 weeks to flower, and another week to dry somewhere once you cut em down. I would rather see them put into flower early then have to cut them down early because you run out of time. They look really good so far!:goodjob:

Re: 420's Bettybud-The Widow-Indoor grow-2014

ah man, having a nightmare with this PH thing. The PH down arrived today so I mixed some nutes, needed some PH down as nutes didn't bring it low enough, then i added too much and needed PH up.. now my meter gives me different readings depending on how deep i dip it into the mix. So confusing.. Hope this new PH pen arrives soon!

Thanks PB July 15th is now my set date to switch. Cannot come quick enough! :yummy:

Re: 420's Bettybud-The Widow-Indoor grow-2014

well about the ph... i just test it before i add nuts.. after i dont bother.. im sure if i did it would fuck with it and then id freak out.. so im not gona check.... my plants doing more then fine..... the way i see it which is more for my own comfort..... u balance the water out.... once u add the nuts.. its not the water that is unbalanced its the nuts changing it up... but the initial water is still balanced... sooooo i leave it alone..... my to cents....

i just started my flower about 5 days ago... man o man... once u switch that thing just takes off and grows....

looking good!!! :thumb:

patience is sooo important here..insane

Re: 420's Bettybud-The Widow-Indoor grow-2014

I'm using Bio Bizz Grow and will start using Bio Bizz Bloom in a couple of weeks, was thinking to hold off feeding until the new PH pen arrives as I'm sure it will give a much more accurate reading than my current meter.

looking at Cgo's grow I have to say his plant looks good considering he's not fussed about what nutes do to the PH, would be interesting to find out what PH natural rain water is and see if that varies much..

Re: 420's Bettybud-The Widow-Indoor grow-2014

wow finally found time for another update, still waiting for the PH pen so did my best with what I already have, i collected some rainwater in a massive bucket outside and added nutes followed by PH up, so my plants had a good feed yesterday and today it looks like they've shot up another 2 inches!

Ok heres some cannabis porn:

I'm actually thinking about putting them into flower now as my tents looking very crowded and I know they will shoot up much more yet.. still undecided :hmmmm:

Ok so i've gone ahead and switched to flower, I've decided to do this today for 2 reasons. 1, I don't have a huge amount of time and 2, I think my plants will be a little tight once they really start to stretch out! the last couple of days has seen alot of growth.

Like I said before it's my first grow so i'm not expecting a massive yield, at the minute it's all about doing the best i can and learning from any mistakes. I already feel that I will be much better prepared for the next grow thanks to you guys :thumb:
