45, new grower, getting worried

Hi there!
I am new to all of this, but really enjoying the progress, outdoor grow in 5 gallon pails, with 1/2"m holes in bottom we for drainage, using Remo's nutrients.
Early this week came home to the plants I left that were doing really well, browning leaves, wilting, some falling off, checked water ph between 5.5+6.5, nothing has really changed.
I then noticed the plants seemed like they were not absorbing the water I was giving them.
Any thoughts?
As I said above, love watching the progress, stressing about this setback
