BlueRussian - CKS Dark Angel strain (Indoor Grow Tent)

Hello and welcome fellow growers,

So before I start, I'll apologize in advance for the rather lengthy intro, but I felt I should put it all out there instead of updating later on. Either way I hope you enjoy the process as much as I will.

Cheers,
BlueRussian

Strain: Crop King Seeds - Dark Angel (feminized)
- Genetics: Jack Herer x UK Cheese
- 50/50 sativa/indica
- THC: 18-20%
- CBD: 1.1%, CBN: .3%
- Flowering: 8 weeks+

Grow space: 3ft x 3ft x 6ft, approx. 1m^2
- Gorilla Grow Tent

Light system:
- ROHS 800w COB LED (4×200w)
- Apollo 180w Full Spectrum LED (60×3w)
- Total light output: 980w

Air exchange:
- Intake: Vortex power fan (Model VTX400), 200 cfm
[Probably a little excessive in terms of air flow but have had problems with high temps (>86°F) in past grows so opted for a system with positive pressure instead of negative pressure, temp control seems to be easier. (ie. Intake is stronger than exhaust)]
- Exhaust: Squirrel cage fan, 95 cfm
[Again, probably a bit redundant as the intake fan is very powerful, but I wanted to control where air was being evacuated from, tube connected to exhaust can be easily moved.]

Hydroponics:
- Homemade Top-feed system with DWC (Deep Water Culture)
- Bubbler in reservoir
- 5 Gallon container, 2.5 Gallons of reservoir space
- Two drip lines for plant
- Clay pellets used for finishing medium

Procedure so far...
- Germinated seeds in distilled water (2 days to sprout)
- Planted seeds in jiffy cubes
- Seedlings transplanted to Rockwood cubes few days later (After 2nd true set)
- Current Light cycle: 18/6
- Aeroponic root pruning* started once roots emerged from bottom of rockwool (*Ask about Aeroponic root pruning practice if your interested)
- Has been 29 days since seedling emerged from jiffy cubes (ie. DAY 0), plan to transplant into clay pellets in 2-3 days, increase nutes to full strength and kick it into full veg state (24/0)
- Smaller seedling to be used as mother for cuttings
- pH maintained between 5.5 and 6.2, with weekly water changes to reservoir
- Temp always between 72 and 76 during daylight and about 65-69 at night
- RH always between 30-35% (Low i know :(. Trying to work on it, any ideas much appreciated)
- Nutrients are at half strength at the moment, going to increase to full dose once fully in veg

So please, let the comments flood in, the more the better I always say. Plus any advice that can help me improve yields without sacrificing quality would be greatly appreciated :)!!

Nice setup, gorilla tents are top notch, also cut your watts in half since LED pull much less then stated. All looks new and clean. I'd run two smaller plants in that size tent. Front row seat. I'm stoked.

Cheers

Sorry, I stated that about watts because a 200 CFM fan will not cool 3000 BTU's in a 2x2 tent. You are lucky it will pull those 400 or so watts out. Even with LED lights mid 80's come easy with high watts. What is room temp?

Cheers

Heya Millertm,

Thanks for the advice and support, always very much appreciated. Thus far though, I haven't had any issues with temps rising above 76 during the day and down to 67-69 at night time, reservoir stays at a nice 65-70 all day long. I think its the added exhaust fan increasing the Cfm to 295 in total (200 for intake and 95 for exhaust). Plus the tent is a 3 x 3 not 2 x 2 but all in all no issues as of yet. To be honest, I used to have huge problems keeping temps low with my 250w HPS, but since ive switched over to LED that's dropped drastically.

My only concern really, is the low humidity (30-35% perpetually). But I do plan to buy a medium sized humidifier for about 100$ before I start flowering. Any other suggestions though?

To everyone else commenting on my journal so far, thank you and I look forward to continuing :)

Cheers,
BlueRussian

I'm here for the pics. Lol

More pics to come, just waiting for veg to start and ill add some more :).

Plus also trying to find link to my old grow journal from 7+ years back, should be an interesting find if I can haha

UPDATE:

Hey guys, sorry for the lengthy pause on updating. Growth has been quite nice since plant was transplanted into hydro bucket with clay pellets. I have to say, I am very pleased with the results from the aeroponic root pruning method I used this time around, as its really produced some impressive root systems in response. Following pics are of 11 days ago (4/11/2016), 6 days ago (4/14/2016) and 2 days ago (4/18/2016) respectively.

Hey guys, thought id update pics of the rootmass thats blown up in the past week or so. Last week, I updated photos of the root system (4/18/2016), which were growing quite nicely since transplanting. The following pics were taken yesterday (04/24/2016) and show the subsequent root growth after only 6 days :). As always, appreciate any comments or advice.

Cheers,
BlueRussian
