Alright dude yep the shower nozzle is really good do t sit them in the trays and don't use the runoff you can if you readjust ph and ec but it's not worth it and yes aslong as its moist it's good .
Cheers mate. What's the best way to keep them out of the drip trays? I need them because, basically, the set up is in the bedroom .
How can you tell the spectrum on the cfl bulb???
one more quick question.............................. wat does it mean when the tips of the leaves are starting to show a lil browinish??? the leave isnt discolored yet, but the very tip/ point of the leaf is a lil yellowish brownish............................i stopped watering her for a while so my coco is a little dried out, so i just watered her.......................any thoughts or suggestions???
2.ph 5.8 if you go even a bit over 6 you will get a calcium def a few weeks into flowering .
3.never let the coco dry water atleast once a day with 10 to 20 % runoff or you will get salt build up.
I use coco in Wilma's and use recirculation, First advice to any one is don't forget to put NFT spreader matt in the bottom of the pots. this will stop coco getting into the res.. next bit of info is just from what iv learnt using the canna coco and canna coco nutrients. I have no real fluctuations in the res - ever and im feeding with 2L per day im running 2.0ec @ 5.8ph every time I check the res this figures don't change. Iv put this down to the canna range as a mate of mine uses Canadian express and had to stop the recirculation as it sent his read out mental. My grows in the sig if anyone's interested
BTW Fatty, are you in UK ? I'm in the freezing, hard watered (7.8ph) North East.
Hey dude, novice here but.....I'de top it and do LST as Fatty suggests. SGROG netting is cool for 4 plants NOT 1. Get it lower and bushier What lights are you using?
thats strange u have hard water mate. i get excellent tap water e/c 0.2 and ph 7. north east has one of the best if not the best tap water in country. get an air pump and put an airstone in ur res over night to bubble out the chlorine and let water reach room temperature. dont ph until u are ready to use, that will allow ur nutes to stabalise.
nice thread. ive been growing coco for 10-11 years now continuously, i also grow other methods and have grown thousands of plants.
Coco is hydro but not exactly. Its a soiless medium, and anything where the roots are in a medium arent exactly true hydro. mediums such as coco/ rockwool/perlite etc are all the same in the fact they dont have roots exposed to just the raw nutes and o2 levels of true hydro. For me hydro is DWC, aeroponics, Flood and drain using pebbles as a medium, and nft. call me picky but just thought i'd share my opinion. the diff being is that true hydro allows for so much more o2 in rootzone and easy availabilty of nutrient.
I like all growing but favour coco and dwc. 95% of my grows are done this way.
I disagree with couple points u make but its just my opinion.
2.ph 5.8 if you go even a bit over 6 you will get a calcium def a few weeks into flowering .
- this statement isnt exactly true. ive certainly never experienced it. I think it matters the quality of nutrients used and what chelates are in them. ive given coco plants steady 6.2ph start to finish in the past and had no problems at all. Im certainly not saying that is the correct way to do it, 5.8 is spot on as its the sweet spot where the plant can get all it needs, but as i said if u have a nute which is high in chelates it can allow nute absorbtion of most elements between 5.2-6.2.
3.never let the coco dry water atleast once a day with 10 to 20 % runoff or you will get salt build up.
I actually think its a good thing to allow coco to dry out from time to time, this causes some stress for the plant and in turn creates a stronger rootzone and healthier immune system. allows more o2 in rootzone also. its a bad idea to allow plant to dry out straight from a heavy feed but i'll let it dry out after a weak feed, force the plant to starve a bit then push heavy feed. its an excellent tip to boost yield when timed correctly in flower. i'd recommend around end of week 3 and end week 5, depending on strain and where the flower development is at. Also doing it in veg makes the plant push roots out faster and u get bigger stronger roots as they have to work a bit.
