Cottage420's Pepetual Grow - 2nd Grow in Progress Organic Soil Indoor

Ok some more bud pics - nothing to report really just the colas getting fat and sticky. I'm at day 45 after switch to 12/12. Tonight I'm going to move the plants to the flowering room I swear! Anyways I'm going for a 65 days of 12/12 with this strain - worked the last time so yeah finishing takes a while. The buds are barely frosty less so than the last grow. Probably not going to keep this strain unless something spectacular happens in the next few weeks which it did last grow so who knows.

I've been watering pretty much exclusively with organic compost teas, and started adding in more molasses to see if that will help get those buds as big and fat as I can get. The buds are getting big just not a lot of trichomes yet but I might be rushing here since last grow everything worked out fine. The only difference this grow is these plants are WAY healthier looking at this stage.

So here's some more bud pics:

Getting into late flower here and buds are getting big. I wanted to see if I could do anything to boost trichome production and I read a bunch of posts/threads about organic growing and the use of alfalfa meal tea. I've been using alfalfa meal in my soil (just a little bit in the soil mix) and also have been using a very small amount in my teas I've been brewing. So this tea I'm going to MOSTLY alfalfa meal and adding in small amounts of Buffalo Loam and EWC and our own compost.

What I found out about alfalfa meal is that it contains a growth hormone called triacontanol. Also for folks that use Co2 this is an extremely potent combination. So I'm going for it and making a predominately alfalfa meal tea, so here goes.

Recipe (I dont measure)

3 gal RO water

about 1 cup alfalfa meal (4 - 5 handfuls) -This brand of alfalfa meal is organic

1/2 cup of compost - home made from my compost bin (all veggie compost)

2 tbls of buffalo loam

1 tsp of Great White mycorrhizae (to get the tea party started)

EWC add in 2nd day with about 1 tbl of organic black strap molasses

here's a few pics of the tea getting started and the ingredients:

After getting the tea going I thought I'd take some more pics to show off some bud porn. This strain is late to the trichome party just like the last grow but you can see the buds are starting to get all silvery and more frosty every day. I think this is a medical strain cause it completely relieves my gout in my big toe and man o man munchies GALORE, must resist must resist....

Funny story - after messing about with the girls of course I smell like dank, time to go shopping for holidaze. We are standing in line at the wine store; "do you smell the dank?". My wife leans over close to me and says yea it smells like you, Oh that's my dank resin after shave right there: trademark!

I'm thinking 2 more weeks of flower, hopefully they will hold off and I think the alfalfa meal tea will help with that and opening up the window for tonight after lights out temps down to 28f should help a little with frosty nugs and maybe get me a little purple going.....

Buds getting fatter every day and starting to get a silver color. Last grow the buds were all totally silver and frosty. We are getting there:

Just went in to check on the girls - I left the window open last night to see if a little cold weather would stimulate more trichome production. I think it got too cold for one of the girls the one the fan was blowing on as she was a little limp. I watered all of the ladies with some alfalfa tea - the tea smelled very very sweet and kinda like the sheep barn too. Anyway I watered them all with alfalfa tea that was brewing bubbling for 24hrs, lets see what happens...

Here's a few pics from today and the tea too!

Nothing much to report - at day 56 after 12/12 and I'm getting down to the finish line I think. I'll get some close up nug pics up tonight with hopefully some trichome close ups too. The girls are eating the large fan leaves starting at the top and working down slowly as the buds are getting fat. Some of the colas are bent over barely hanging on but not breaking. Yeah the buds are getting big but the plants dont "look" pretty due to the loosing/burning up the fan leaves. This strain did the same thing last run - all fan leaves were yellow and wilted and it's looking like they will do the same again this time even tho I went all organic and I've watered them with ACT from flip to finish. At this point I'm thinking I will water one more time before harvest maybe 2 times with straight up RO water and nothing. Gotta get a close look at the trichomes now and see where we are with this grow. Over all the buds are pretty fat and sticky so happy about that, I should have a huge stash in a month or so.... right around new years I will be burping open the curing jars

Trichome pics... a little blurry but its difficult to hold a microscope and take a pic my hands are not steady enough at this magnitude but hey it's enough to see they are not quite ready yet. All I saw was white clear trichomes, and I want to see some cloudy and some amber mixed in with the clear that way I'll be getting that head high and energy bounce. Some will inevitably get mostly amber but thats the tops of the big colas and I will jar them up seperately for those times I wanna get a good lock down in my chair and take er easy....

I think we are getting there this should be a nice haul. Time to start some seedlings now!!

Looking real good.

I have sourced stuff to go Organic and start using teas, but won't go for it until the spring. It seems like it produces the highest quality stuff.

I use pretty much what I've got right here at home. I've got a compost bin that I've been using for 15 years and it's almost to the top right now and I've ordered an additional 160 gallon compost bin. I've got a crap load of red wigglers in the bin so the compost that comes out has a ton of EWC in there so I use a handful of that in my teas and have bought a few packages of different loams to mix in and of course some organic black strap molasses a 5 gallon stainless pot and a decently powered air pump and some stones. I've got some Great White too and a few boxes of organic alfalfa meal. Thats pretty much all I need. Never worry about PH again - the tea is right at 6.5 - 6.6 after 24 hrs of bubble.

Ok some more bud pics here from earlier when I was taking micro pics of trichomes so yeah day 55 after flip from 12/12 and I'm getting very close to harvest. I have a shit load of buds. My goal was a pound dry weight... that was my goal so even if I get 1/2 lb I'd be a fine with that. I need some more curing jars and a large rack to keep them on!! As you can see there's some frost and it's about a week from harvest. I will be checking trichomes daily until I see the amber color.

Here's a pic - used to be a sea of green now a sea of buds!! nice....not bad for a rookie with some bag seeds!!
I'm probably going to get a few clones off these again since I really like the taste and high off these plants but I cant stop thinking what a high end strain is going to grow like.

WP_20141202_001.jpg

woah now - this one is VERY top heavy there's some other colas on this plant that are bent down almost to the floor leaning towards the LED light.

Sometimes I like running them later than the breeder recommends. I always find it worthwhile. Something to consider at least. My bubblegum is supposed to finish @ 56 days, but it is better at the 63 day, 9 week mark. Plumper, riper buds, and only 1 extra week of waiting.

Looks nice over there, BB.

Hey CO thanks yeah I'm waiting for the right time... the buds are getting fatter and frostier I think I could sit and watch it happen thats how fast its going. Fan leaves are burning off 1 by 1, my poor girls look soooo shabby now but the buds - wwooooah getting biggy sticky plumping up big time fast too.

So for the next week or so it's going to be trichome pics and a few bud pics once the fan leaves are gone and they are wilting yellowing curling... I know it's not the soil or anything .... its the strain. First run I thought I totally f'd up but the buds smoke GREAT. I did the trichome check last run too and I had about 10% amber 30% cloudy and 60% clear and of course not all the buds were the same but that I bet was an average. The difference this run with organic methods is the plants were way healthier looking thru out the grow even coming down the back stretch and my yield is going to be much better way way better. This must be a strain thing but yeah right at the end the buds are getting REAL fat - frosting up and fan leaves are falling off. I bet in 3-4 days I wont need to trim them off they will all have fallen off. But the buds are fresh green frosty and glistening... wow, this is what I worked for for 4+ months and my fruits are here!!! Woohooo yeah you right! How many flower growers can say yeah my flowers were blooming for 65+ days?

Oh yeah once lights out its the skunny monster danky dank smell even with the scrubber going, good thing it's not like this the whole grow. We are urban dwellers. I think my current body smell is dank!

Skunny monsters
danky dank,
Oh my babies
keep on growin

So for the next week its tric pix .... it is what it is and hey this about as scientific as I get here.

All clear on the trichome front .... looking for some cloudy amber. I just watered with RO water tonight. The last 2 weeks I was watering with TEA from Alfalfa Meal to try and prolong the flower a few more days to see if I can coax out some more THC since this strain is a late bloomer.

her we go.... the fun stuff

More Trichome pics again tonight... gotta check don't want to be caught off guard now it's been a lot of my time invested so don't want to miss the right time. The buds are packing on the goodness and fattening up too. Every day the buds get bigger and fatter and frostier.

I've still got about a 10 zips left from the last grow same thing as these. I've passed samples around to my friends to get a review of last grow. I smoke pretty much so it's hard for me to gauge how a casual smoker thinks. I warn my friends that this is not your average bag weed (even tho its from bag seed!). Haha. All my friends think they can smoke and work/drive daily grind. This is too strong even for me to do that there's absolutely no way I drive or work with this, heck I was stoned to begeebers all day today and I smoked 2 nice spliffs last night with my wifey. There's no way I could wake n bake and go to work unless it was outside in the garden!!

Daily update until my girls are done ....

No Trichome pics today .... watered yesterday with straight RO water for all the girls and today the larger fan leaves are burning off/turning yellow fast too. But the buds are getting fatter and I'm seeing new greenish white gnarly looking bulk being added to the bud party!! So ya getting very close to harvest here.

I have a 2# goal dry weight..... time to get a bunch more jars.

I'll post some pics tomorrow, but with the fan leaves wilting they look kinda crazy... big ass buds nice n green and fan leaves falling off like there's no tomorrow.... I think that is correct for this strain, they did it even worse the last run. I'm just going to water the normal amount as if they were in early flower every other day but not going to "flush" with organic growing I don't think I need to flush. Everything the girls need or don't need is there and available. If they want to use up the nitrogen in those big fan leaves that fed them for the last 4 months so be it. It's hard to see them die off tho as I know the end is near. I'm a kinda sad in a way but I will be able to celebrate the girls hard work in a few weeks and hopefully Jah willing, I will have some more clones to grow from these. No expert here with cloning - worked the last time but I used foxtails off the buds that grew when I let them get REAL dry last week b-4 harvest then drenched them with plain water and the buds grew foxtails - harvested the foxtails for clones and hung the buds for me.

So thats it, just water now until the end. It's looking like fall colors now....oh and the frosty nugz are getting there.
All still clear on the trichome front, may be a few cloudy now. As soon as lights out its danky dank smell is strong.

Can you document this part please during this grow. I have never heard of this. A noob, but getting clones off amazing plants in late bud would always be a nice trick to have up your growing sleeve.

Hey AK - sure thing I'll see if I can duplicate it again... no promises tho.

Grow report with pics:

Getting down to the end, the buds are way top heavy now and barely able to stay upright, I'm going to have to stake them now kinda crappy but hey I'm almost there - looks about 50% cloudy trichomes not very many amber that I could see but I will look again tomorrow. Girls are swallowing fan leaves whole over night, wow. I'm getting very close to chop here.. I think what I'll do tomorrow is take another look at the trichomes and chop one of the larger girls, the one with the mostly orange pistols, thats the plant that the colas are hanging way down and I think she's ready to harvest. The others are still a few more days away...Time to pop some beans!!

ok it's day 60 after flip to 12/12

I staked up the buds they were falling over top heavy so did that and watered with some black strap molasses, about 2 teaspoons per gallon and watered all the girls well with 2 gallons of RO water with molasses. I'm not sure how long to let the big girls go - the short girls are not done yet and are getting bigger every day. The tall sativa are very close to finish, the indica are maybe another week maybe more... here's some trichome pics with bud porn!

Let them go longer, BB,
You will be very happy you did. Try 10 more days before chopping anything. Cut some small buds to sample if u wish, but let them go. The magic happens at the end.

Just a friendly suggestion.

Thanks CO - yeah checked them again this morning b-4 work the big colas seem to be getting fatter by the day and filling out. I'm going to water them every other day and give em a little black strap molasses too. The girls seemed to respond to the molasses buds are filling out nice wow!
