Cruizer's Inside/Outside CFL Soil Growing Experience

Yep thanks for the comments, I'll give em more N on the next round. They got coconut water this time. Oh and lights they're under are all 2700k, so they look orange as well. LOL

Week 4 of flower? wow that went by fast, anyway. Posting some closer-up picks to see the spider mite infestation going on. I don't know what to do, so I'm going to try and spray them with a organic concoction I made. Any other Ideas I would appreciate. :thumb:

Spider mites is something I worry about, I hear good things about SNS-217. They are a site sponsor but this is a link SNS-217™ Spider Mite Control RTU – Sierra Natural Science I use neem and rosemary oils in water with a touch of natural soap to beak the oils down. I use as a preventive measure don't know if it will kill them. I did have a good effect on the thrips I suffered on my last go. Girls look smashing considering. :goodjob: hope you get the issue sorted. :Namaste:

I have 3 1/2 plants outside at the moment to see when they will flower on there own. I had 4, but 1/2 a plant got eaten by a Chapulin, Spanish for grasshopper. I couldn't figure out what was eating my plants but it was big! I read up on them and they like to show up at sunrise.

I go out one morning and 3 branches are broken, like something fell on them. Big fan leaves were eaten, i couldn't believe it. So after some thinking here's my theory on what happened...Grasshopper shows up first thing in the morning and start to eat on the plant...Bird sees grasshopper and drops down and snags it while breaking the branches along the way. The grasshopper breaks free but still dies to the claws of the bird. That morning i go out a 6am and find the branches broken and a Chapulin dead on the ground behind the bench i put the plants on at night. That's my take on it, lol.

I solved, well my girlfriend suggested I bring the plants in at night and since i'm up at sunrise I could take them out then. Yeah, sometimes I can't see the obvious answer to the problem, hahaha. That sucker was eating on 4 plants!

So the grasshopper that I thought was chewing on my outside plants? turned out to be my DOG! Hahaha, I caught her this morning. She's the one that pulled the branches off the plant. Now I shut the gate and she stays in the front yard. She ate one of my plants when she was about 3 months old but I thought she outgrew it, must like the taste. :yummy:

You did say whatever it was, it was big. Bad dog.

I was wondering what the minimum amount of light a plant needs to stay in veg mode. I ended up coming across this statement...

I'm currently 3 weeks from harvest on my 2nd grow. Both my 1st and 2nd grow I vegged w/a light cycle of 24 hours/day, then after 9 weeks of my 1st grow and after 5 weeks of my 2nd grow I switched to 12/12. After flowering for 5 weeks, switch to 14/10 to finish out the grow. At 14 hours dark, 10 hours of light your plants will produce more trichomes, get real frosty looking, more tris, better quality imo...works for me. I grow aero-hydro and that also really gets me some sticky grade A bud, good luck...

Also you don't start counting the days of flowering until you see pistils btw, not when you switch to 12/12. The plant takes 7-10 days to start to develop pistil hairs. When you see that, that's day 1....

There's 2 things he says of interest to me. One is the sticky grade A buds. Is this true about the 10 hrs of light?
The other thing is he says start counting days of flower from the time you see the pistil hairs. If that's the case, I'm off by a week on 4 of the girls and longer on the fifth.

Any thoughts? and how many hours is the minimum btw?

theres a lot of debate about this some people count it from when they see something some do it from flip
I do mine from flip
ive also harvested on breeders timeline before from flip
this is not always the case tho breeders timeline is just a guideline
the real way to check is by looking at the trichomes and that and experience will tell you when to start your flush and when to harvest
again breeders timeline can be real close can be far off too its all about what genetics are showing and
if its stabilized or not. so ill say again some count from hairs some count from flip
I count from flip and have been close enough to breeeders timeline to keep the way I count
ultimately experience through time will be your best form of knowledge

Yea, I guess with not having any info on them I will be the first, lol. My last grow was Sativa dom. hybrid and they went 10 wks from counting 12/12. This run I went with 11/13 lighting schedule but, was wondering if I should drop it to 10/14 like the guy says for stickier buds? And that kinda tied into when to count the days/weeks. :smokin:

End of wk 5 or 6 update....Reminds me...need to find my microscope I misplaced while moving, Ugh! Girls are doing fine. I got rid of the spider mites, I hope. Defoliated a bunch of bad leaves but, overall they look healthy and getting bigger. Thanks for following along. :high-five:

hey man nice pics from today they glisten like shaq from the foul line! particularly the 2nd and last photo :p
that sucks your dog got a hold of it but at least hes easier to control then spider mites or grasshoppers or other pests.

that is a monster "trunk" or "stem" how much wind did it take to get one like that ?

also ive read that 10 hours of light 14 dark is the bomb for the last 1-2 weeks of flowering but to try and get down to that slowly more naturally like the natural path of the sun. I did 12/12 from start of flower and im down to 11/13 now and 10/14 in 2 weeks to finish it off. they do seem to grow faster/bigger with more dark period. But i did read in the same area that it can reduce your yield if done too soon.
ill try and find the article in my history and post it but no guarantees my history is all over da place .

cheers buddy !

Update:end of week 7
I've notice the Sativa turning purple :thumb:

I believe I have a Cal. deficiency so I gave them some dolomite lime with their water the last couple of times. These plants have been in the same medium for about 6 months, so things are being depleted. One plant was transplanted because she was root bound and another I'm a little worried about getting root bound before she's done. Thanks for stopping bye :thanks:
