Diatomaceous Earth

Has anyone used diatomaceous earth for its silica, which can be used to strengthen plants? I know it can be messy but it's also a little less expensive than monosilicate acid.

Hey Hash Girl - What’s up with you lady??

Yes I’ve used it mixed in soil and then used as top dress for pests. Big thing is it’s really bad for your lungs so don’t dust it on soil with squeeze duster & wear a mask when you handle dry DE. It has microscopic sharp edges that cuts into critter exoskeleton but most we buy is tumbled or food grade. Tip you can buy a 4 pound jug $10 at tractor supply or go over to horse food isle and its like $15 bucks for 20 lbs.

this was on my first plant so I didn’t really have anything to compare it against and I’ve have not tried head to head comparison on it since. Stout MSA seems to work well

I got gallon of stout MSA for about 70 clams US think it came from Amazon
