First Grow On A Budget

Hey all, I'm new and this is my first grow and I'm trying to do so on a budget. I was given a bag of some home grown random weed due to the plant unfortunately being a hermie :( and couldn't do anything else with it. so with that said I got a bunch of seeds.....and decided at that why not try lol so I germinated all of them and chose the three longest and thickest.

Wow, I've never seen germination like that before. From what I understand, you'll probably want to separate those 3 small ones into separate containers soon. Good luck, I'll follow along.

Starting Grow product info:
•Soil- vigoro pot soil($20), wood shavings and small pebbles.
•Light- 60w LG indoor grow light($15), LBW 150w full spectrum led lamp($30), and a low watt heat lamp($12).
•Nutrients- Mr.earth gold plant food($15)
•extras- aluminum foil wrap card board 3/4 cone, to reflect light.

I'm actually posting about three weeks of journal right now. No worries I've separated them.

So after a bit I realized one was dying and wilting fast I'm assuming root rot, it had a bunch of gnats around it. But the other two have shown slow but steady progress. And have since been put into they're own pots. This is day 16 from germination.

I have started with the nutrients which said once a week and have been watering them every 2-3 days and using a 18-6 light schedule as that's my sleep schedule lol. And over the course of 8 days (day 24) they seem to have really perk'd up . And I was right the third plant died indefinitely and I tossed the other germinated seeds.

This is day 36, I have stopped the use of the nutrients I was giving it as I think it was causing issues in the soil. So I reported both plants in 1 gallon pots. The soil is the same but has been treated with boiling water and I mixed in perlite, egg shells, and a few other things suggested by some friends. I purchased the Fox farms trio and have started them on a 3/4 recommended dose per gallon with watering. One of them is doing better than the other and I have since fixed the tall issue.

Alright it's day 45(today). I have purchased a better light and have separated both plants. The bigger of the two is now under a Giixer 600w dual switch veg/bloom led. And has a small personal humidifier. The other started to show signs of distress and again had gnats. My girl friend has decided to take that one over with my old light and experiment with the growth and her own personal soil mixture lol. But I'm happy to say at least one is showing progressive growth and has revealed....*drum roll*.... It is indeed a female I may have to throw it into a longer light cycle to stop it from flowering to early...any suggestions?

Looking good.. They should start to explode in growth, with the new light.
I will be tagging along for the ride.:thumb:
Thanks, I appreciate the interest and I to will be following your page. And yea so far with the new light it feels to almost expand by %30-40 every day or two.

Light is key. They look healthy. They have a nice, tidy internodal spacing.
Keep posting regularly; I'm eager to see them grow.
I wouldn't worry about following my thread..unless you want to learn how to kill plants that is

Quick update, made some improvement to it's "enclosure", added a fan, and pruned some of the bigger leaf growth to give light to everything else as it was kinda blocking everything below it. I googled how to "prune" and it was video after video of people literally cutting they're plants in half and I didn't like that concept lol so I just did it this way.

(Day 50) Another update, I have transfered her into a 3 gallon self draining pot, removed all tie downs, and have fed it with fox farms grow big(20ml/gallon) and big bloom(60ml/gallon), and is currently still under 18/6 schedule. Definitely recovering well from my pruning and stem training. It's growing slowly but surely, hopefully transfer to bigger pot with help speed things up. Thanks for checking things out.

Looking healthy.
You can noticeabley see the growth difference with the new light.
You said there is a veg and Bloom switch in your light? If there is, I would have both of them on. You will find most of the growers that have that option do. It can not harm your plant in anyway and will only prove beneficial.

Yes it has both bloom and veg switches and holy hell the red is bright lol. I'll switch it on now, I wasn't sure if that was a thing to run both since it has its own switches lol but Thanks for the advice....much appreciated

I think it's more of a gimmick, the plants love both colours all the way through. Just watch for any change in the leaves, incase they start to burn, or curl slightly. This will just show the light is too close and you will have to lift it higher.

Ok cool. I just went to the product specs, and I have turned both on and have moved it to a height of 60cm which the product sheet says is the optimal height with "2960 lux"...but I have no idea the real number. I left the light on over night as I just transplanted and fed her....and she seems to like the added light bigger over night (5.25hours). I know I know I'm taking photos like it's my child, but I want to compare growth everyday to see what is and isn't working lol
