Hutch's Perpetual Grow Journal

Everything's doing great Hutch!
They're all looking fantastic, but that AK48 is a real standout!

She may just be a lighter green plant-one of mine is light green, and the other is dark green, ever since sprout-

Thanks! Good point, hadn't thought of that. I noticed later there was just the hint of tip burning so we're pretty darn close to right on target. Her leaves are very thin as well so it makes sense that it's genetic. I'm going to chop at the first sign of amber because she should be a real sativa queen. Can't wait to see if those flower sites half way down turn into real solid buds with this new light!

Hello folks! Here's the update for November 8...

Day 52.JPG

Lambs Breath Autoflower Day 9/52 - 36,000 lux - 15" from light - 9" tall

Actually fed her 5.5g instead of 4.5g/gn yesterday so instead of easing the tip burning I've made it worse! She also had no vertical growth just as she was taking off, hopefully that's not connected to the overfeeding.

Day 52-2.JPG

AK-48 Autoflower Day 19/52 - 50,000 lux - 9" from light - 33.5" tall

She continues to stretch! Ratchet hangers arrived today so I set the light up all nice and even at 12" above. Light can still be raised about 4 more inches before we reach the roof of the tent.

Day 53-1.JPG

Lambs Breath Autoflower Day 10/53 - 23,000 lux - 19" from light - 10" tall
She's reacting to my over-feeding mistake. Should be ok unless I screw up again.

Phantom Cookies Domina - Day 24 - 19,000 lux - 27" from light - 2" tall

Four little side shoots are growing out right on schedule. If they knew what was going to happen to them next they would shrink back into their warm little nodes.

Day 24.JPG

Chocolate Haze - Day 24 - 20,000 lux - 25" from light - 3.5" tall

I think I will attempt multiple toppings rather than quadline on the Chocolate Haze. There will be some tying down as well. I would like to veg both these plants until mid-December. There will be a learning curve as I have never grown a photoperiod before nor tried to contain growth for that long. Should be fun.

That is my main gripe with autoflowers, there not really vegging until day 15 or so and they're flowering by day 30, usually, so you only have a two week window for playing with it. Sometimes it will go longer like the Lambs Breath which went 7 weeks before flowering, but it is unpredictable and hard to plan out.

In other news, installed a usb fan in a vent in the veg tent. I was having to keep the door open to keep it from over heating. It seems to be working! Temps have held steady all day at 26 which is close enough to ok for me, and the rh is around 48 in the tent and 50 at pot level which is also close enough. Proper humidity would only make them grow more anyway, right? Slow veg is what we want. I'm pumping all the light they can handle I wonder if I should cut back to just the single cob on my blurple?

That's all folks! Thanks for dropping by!

Day 57-2.JPG

Lambs Breath Autoflower Day 14/57 - 26,000 lux - 16" from light - 13" tall

We were finally able to get in and clear out some of the underbrush and tie back some of the shoots to allow air circulation and light penetration. Look to be 8-10 nice colas forming. Yesterday we fed her 6 litres of tap water with 4g/gn Megacrop. We were unsure how to feed as we previously burnt her tips a bit more than we'd like. 4g/gn should be enough for now an next time we will be back up to 5g/gn.

White Widow - Day 1 - 12,000 lux - 30" from light - 1" tall

One of the White Widows we grew over the summer produced a single seed. Six days ago, on a whim, we dropped that seed in a shot glass with tap water. Next day we put it between damp paper towels as is our custom. The next day nothing had happened and we assumed she was a dud and promptly forgot about it.

Last night, just as we were getting ready for bed, we happened to notice that it was still on top of the fridge and hadn't dried out. Indeed the thing had hatched and grown a 1 inch root as well as a 1.5" stem and what looked like two pale green leaves! Too bad I forgot to take a picture. We hastily planted the sprout in a solo cup and put in tent. This morning she was a little greener but still resting on the dirt as pictured above. Looking just now I can see she has lifted herself up and starting to look like she just might make it!

Haha fragrant! Not the word I would have chosen, more like "stink". Actually I really love the smell but not sure if the neighbours would feel that way. Yesterday we had our first guests since the fragrance started and our fan/filter setup passed the test - or at least they never mentioned it. :) Hope all's well with you and that business is good!

:laughtwo: get a dog. I just blame it on the dog as much as possible. Darn dog got in it with a Skunk again ...

I am actually terrified for Thanksgiving lol. The whole family is coming over and I am sure someone will sniff it out. Here in MI, it is hit or miss on acceptance. Already planning to blame it on the dogs again :ganjamon:

Hey Hutch. Plants are looking great! Good news on the new sprout.
I was going to say what happened to your avatar - I used to enjoy the little mandala with the heart in it. So I had to look more closely at your new one (bit blind) and crikey! That’s a terrific photo mate. Cleary you have a fantastic telescope.

The new White Widow is now standing up. I'm new to starting a seedling with the blurple on but I'm keeping it on for the two vegging plants. After this photo was taken I moved her to the floor of the flower tent where I believe she'll get a better start. My light meter reads 4,000 lux where she is now.

Look at those bud sites! Loving the pictures. You are doing an awesome job.

Are you glad you got the filter outside? Seems like the plants are responding well to the extra space.

Brah that AK-48 auto is a stunner!! Garden is looking wonderful Mr. Hutch! Stoked you got the new tent debacle sorted.

I gave super cropping a try in my garden on all the plants. I used a needle nose pliers and wrapped the tips with electrical tape so my pinching wasn’t so radical on the stems.. I pinched the stems gently till I felt them give slightly but not enough where they flopped over. Had me sweating like I was deactivating a bomb  Sending positive thoughts and vibes!!

Aloha

Thank you! That AK-48 is an awesome plant. I'm really glad the filter is outside the tent, even so there is just barely enough room for the two plants.

Thank you! Can't say the new tent is completely sorted as I have still not received my refund but I'm really happy now having a veg tent in operation.

You're braver than I am but that seems like a cool way to keep from braking the stem. I just might have to try that on the AK-48 if it doesn't stop growing but I'm not looking forward to it.

Hello people! Here's the update for November 16. First the usual suspects...

Chocolate Haze - Day 31 - 21,000 lux - 24" from light - 5.25" tall

Gave the AK-48 a good feeding of 6.5g/gn Megacrop in 7 litres tap water and gave the WW seedling a little bit, probably 1.5g/gn in 5 or 10ml water. Have decided to practice cloning with the Chocolate Haze. We love chocalope and the hazes so we know we're going to love this smoke. We plan to take some cuttings as soon as she is big enough in a couple more days. The current plant will still go in the flower tent while we veg the clone. When the clone is big enough we will clone the clone and then flower her and so on. At least that's the plan. :) :hookah:

I was trying to figure out a way to keep the WW seedling going in the veg tent without burning it under the blurple. Thinking a screen might help we tested the lux under a sieve colander kitchen thing. This just might work, the seedling looked much better today. Before the screen it looked like it was trying to hide from the sun.

Veg tent.

I've decided to turn off the blurple in the veg tent, don't remember why I had it on in the first place. We're in no hurry for these photoperiods as they can't go into the flower tent until after December 15 so less light should equal slower growth. I can also forgo the screen over the WW seedling, I know from past experience that little seedlings can take it.

The C. Haze plant is healthy and growing thicker, hardier foliage than I'm used to. Autoflowers, even large ones, usually have more delicate leaves. I wonder if this is a difference between them and photoperiods. The leaves are splotchy though, hopefully this is genetics but I'll keep my eye on it.

That's all folks! :peace: :hookah:Thanks for dropping by!
