STRAIN: Big Bud

My first go around with Big Bud from th

(Copied from seed source)
“Genetics: Big Bud was created after crossing three old school strains Afghani, Skunk and Old School Big Bud. This strain carried forward all the most desirable traits from her parents, meaning she is highly resilient to cold and hot climates, flowering in less than 9 weeks and is unbelievably productive. Indoors she can yield upto 500 to 600 gr/m2 which makes Big Bud one of the most lucrative strains available. Outdoors she is capable to yield enormous amounts and will not suffer with mould thanks to her environmental resistance.

Strain Characteristics: This old school hybrid will grow with thick branches and quickly fill out your grow tent. Big Bud reacts very well to plant training, which we advise to take your yields to the next level. As the name suggests she will grow nothing but big buds at every internode. Her calyx to leaf ratio is very high making her a breeze to trim. The characteristics of the flowers will have a clear old school look with calyx stacking up surrounded by bright orange hairs.

Big bud has a vintage flavour that will take some old school growers back. A mix of earthy, sweet with a floral funk background that will have you licking your lips after every toke of a joint.

Her aroma when flowering will be more floral than pungent, so is a great choice for growers who require low profile varieties. Flowering time will range from 7-9 weeks depending on phenotype making Big Bud a fast flowering beast that has THC levels of 13-17%”

Now that pleasantries are out of the way:
This is my first take at DWC but so far this is how she has went:

Seed was started Oct. 15th 2020
Placed in the net pot on Oct. 27th 2020
**Had a fuss with gunking, causing slow growth. Added Z7 as recommended and nothing since.
**pH fluctuations we’re getting the better of me, I switched from Advanced Nutrients base (G/M/B) 1 part base (local hydro store brand)
**Been on cruise control since then
**Will be going into flower in 24hrs

Photo Dump: I apologize, but here’s the timeline so to say. Oct. 27 - Jan. 7th.

This should be enough of the past to get us started moving forward.
I’ve got to smoke something :lot-o-toke:

Will you be using a scrog net?

I do with my DWC and I recommend it for a larger yield.
Yes, I used a scrog my last 2 runs and like the uniform look of the buds. I’ll use the ages old pvc method to make a 3x3or2.5x2.5 net but need to add a spout to drain the bucket for res changes first.
2.5’x2.5’ leaves me some room to toss in a few seedlings I have in a couple more weeks.

Day 1 of 12/12 is (almost) officially in the books.
I let her sit in 24 hours of darkness yesterday. I got my seedlings moved out temporarily so we can get her started. Setup a cozy corner for them to relax in for a few weeks.

Res changed Today.
3gal/res
15ml cal-mag
15ml base
7.5ml voodoo juice
1.5ml Z7
Ph down until 5.8

EC: 1.78(890ppm)
PH: 5.8
Res temp 73.4f

Tent Temp 74f
RH is @ 33% (have a humidifier with thermostat on the way, will be around the 22nd)

@JamesBong502 bong she looks health.

How long do you veg?

My normal veg is normally around 5 or 6 weeks to fill the net.
This plant is 12 weeks old from seed. This is my longest vegged plant to date. But I’ve always had 4-6 plants. I just wanted to try something different this go around and focus on 1 plant mainly

Day 4 of 12/12

EC: 1.32/660PPM (Dropping) but also plain water topped off twi now.
WL: Dropping
Ph: 5.9 (slightly rising)
Res. Temp: 69f

Tent Temp: 74f
RH: 31%

Seedlings are looking good, wish they had a tent/room to sleep in but I’ll make it work for now.

They're looking pretty good.

I noticed you EC/PPMs; I rarely go over 600 ppm's in DWC.

Very few plants that I know of require more than that.

I have read where some individuals go up to 700 and even 800 ppm's.
I would not recommend it.

Just be careful not to make it to rich and cause nutrient lockout.

How long have you been on 12/12?

Have you sex'd the plant yet, or is it feminized seed?

GL with your grow.

Tok..

I will keep an eye on that, I have noticed they seem a bit more vigorous 2nd or 3rd day from the change. I’ll start at 600 and see how they do.

Today is Day 4 of 12/12. I started them in Flower Sunday after a 24 hour dark period.

They are feminized seeds, the Bud photo in post #1 was my first time with this strain I was pretty pleased with it all the way around

At this point of development with the plant bulking up; it's easy to think more nuts the better, but there not.

Keep an eye on your ppm's and she will tell you if she hungry.

Tok..

Edit: she is going to be an impressive example under the net in a couple of weeks.

Maybe tent filler.
I will do, I appreciate the guidance.
And I’m hoping so, I’ll be getting the stuff to do the net and res drain this weekend. She’ll definitely look more appealing when she gets to growing through it.

Day 5 of 12/12:

WL:
dropping 1/4 gallon a day topped off with plain water
EC: 0.9(485ppm)
PH: 5.8
Res. Temp: 72f
Tent Temp: 79f
RH: 43%

She’s become due for some defoliation, but that will be the end of week 2- beginning of week 3 some after she’s under the scrog net for a bit.
