- The Seed
widow9.JPG

Here's the newest addition to the family. a teeny, tiny little widow seedling. the other one didn't make it out of it's seed shell, so it's kaput. she's healthy, just hiding in the back (i don't have room!)

Now the Flowering Chamber

sfr.JPG

SFR. 45 days. leaves are pretty well all necrotic. dry and very brittle.
i21.JPG

Ice-2. 39 days. looking very nice.
i31.JPG

Ice-3. 39 days. also very nice.
i41.JPG

Ice-4. 13 days. stretching.
sc1.JPG

Super Crystal-1. 13 days. stretching, some mites. sprayed them (outside of the room) with Dr. Doom (in the green can)

water2.JPG

My new watering device. 1 five gal water bottle. 1 hand pump. 5 feet of 3/8" clear vinyl hose. 1 two foot length of bamboo, for a handle. works like a charm.

Now i have a question. many of the growers here share an opinon on flowering. that being, the first week, we usually don't count. anyone else do this? (the days listed are including that 1st week, for ease of understanding) Thanks all.

Stay up, yo.

Re: news's buds and breeding.

the experiment is seeing how long the the ice cuttings will take to root while sitting in water solution. i'm not pleased with the results so far. i need to figure out a better way to root them if i wanna switch to hydro.

if i count the 1st week, then many of my strain will be 9+ weeks. just have to see how this harvest goes to get a better estimate of timing.

Re: news's buds and breeding.

ah shoot... wrong button. oh well...

Flowering Pics. (and a little bud porn for ya ;D)

one of I3's bigger buds. starting to swell. :)

Just started I4 on the 31st
sc1-.JPG

Also started SC1 on the 31st

and now poor SFR. it doesn't seem like the pollen has traveled. but aside from that is this issue, i'm 90% sure what happened..

sfrbud1.JPG

sfrleaf.JPG

i'm fairly sure what the problem was. (heat) anyone agree/disagree? she's still salvagable and there are seeds still growing, so we'll stick it out for now..

i counted;
22 tops on I2
21 tops on I3
18 tops on I4
23 tops on SC1

that makes for lots of tasty buds. :D

stay up all.

Hey News! unknowingly you did me a big favor. I just grew a strain of what I suspected was ICE, but wasn't totally sure. These pics have def. confirmed that my plant is ICE. Looks almost exactly the same. :thanks: +rep

Re: news's buds and breeding.

glad i helped. i'm a big fan of ICE. i wonder which pheno you've got. there are some out there that turn purplish. glad you stopped in to say hi. take care.

Re: news's buds and breeding.

so i got impatient with the Hindu Kush. i wanna know if it's a girl!! so i've started the one that was to be a mother, to flowering. day 1 today. i took 2 cuttings (in addition to the top i cut off, which seems to be rooting in the soil) and set them into rapid-rooter plugs. this way, if it turns out female, i have other plants ready to go and i won't lose the genetics. also, if it's male, i'm thinking of flowering it out under cfl's and saving the pollen, maybe.

i have 6 rooted cuttings in the rapid-rooter. i like the simplicity of it. cut, dunk, powder, plant. then cover and wait a week and a half. haha. i have high hopes for the SH Mistic Cloner knock-off i build though. after 4 days with only 1 misting of the leaves, the cuttings are still standing strong. they are obviously getting plenty of moisture through the stems.

the mazar is taking off nicely i really like that strain already. i tried some of the mother the other day and found it very up-lifting. nice taste, not sure if i like the cure, but beggars can't be choosers.

Story time.....
The cutting i got was pinched off and the base was wrapped in a piece of paper tower (the crappy brown stuff from public washrooms) i tossed the clone in my jacket pocket and went home (it was -20C at the time). i set it in some water for the night and then cut, dunked, powdered and planted straight into a cup of perlite. it only took like 6 days to root before i transplanted it. great strain.

everything is looking pretty good. some over-doing the nutes on the flowering plants i think. i'm going to cut back the AN dosage a bit for the next watering. and starting saturday i'm switching to plain R/O water for the two late flowering ICE. i'm getting ansy about them.

well, i'm off to work for the night, i'll catch you later.

Re: news's buds and breeding.

i have returned. :yahoo:

the last two weeks may have been the best and most up-lifting weeks of my life. i had what some would call a religious experience. no, i didn't meet god or almost die. i have finally come to terms with some of the psychological damages i've had for more than a decade. i feel so free. like the weight of the world no longer sits on my shoulders.. i feel amazing!

pictures and stories on their way sometime today.

Re: news's buds and breeding.

pictures!
:yahoo:

its been a long 2 weeks. and here are the photos taken just yesterday..

Vegetative;

vrooter.JPG

my Rapid Rooter with Ice, Super Crystal, Mazar and Hindu Kush.
vice_clones_2.JPG

9 Ice clones. they are all rooted and doing well.
vice_clones.JPG

2 Ice. past the small stage, these will be very bushy once they go to flower.
vwidder.JPG

Here is a widow seedling. it's growing a little strangely. some of the leaves are missing... looks strong though.
vmazar.JPG

This is the Mazar, it's growing like, well, a weed. haha. very vigorous plant to be sure.
v3-prong.JPG

Here's my little 3-pronger. Butch, remember when she was just tiny? now she's about 16" tall and i'm running out of room for her. yet, she's only about a 3rd the size of..
vyin-yang_bush.JPG

my yin-yang bush. this one is easily 4 sq*ft. it's going to dominate my flowering chamber in a few months.. i don't think i planned this very well. haha.
:thumb:

Flowering;

follow me into the flowering room...
flowering4.JPG

it's a great sight, let me tell you.
fice2.JPG

here is Ice2. technically i could bring her down saturday, but i'm going to leave her for another week or two.
fice_bud.JPG

that's the big bud on I2 that can't even support it's own weight. i love when they do that!
fice3.JPG

Here's Ice3. same deal as I2, but i think i may leave it go another week or two once i've cut the I2 down.
fice4.JPG

This is Ice4. started january 31, it's starting to swell and look good. gonna be a bigger harvest than I2 or I3.
fsuper_crystal.JPG

Super crystal, also started jan 31. it looks nice. i think it may be better suited to hydro, but it still looks very nice.
ficeM.JPG

This Ice was supposed to be a future mother, but it got too big for the veg area, so i put it down to flower. just started on the 24th of february, but the stretch has begun already and even a few hairs are showing.
fshorty1_2.JPG

fshorty3_4.JPG

these are 4 clones that just grew too tall to be in veg anymore, so i potted them in 1-quart pots and set them in the open spaces so they can flower out. a few nice buds is all i'm asking.

and finally..
fsfr.JPG

the sneaky fucking russian is continuing to grow and seems to keep growing new buds. it's very strange. well, keep it there till it's finished or it has to go. i tested a small bud, i wasn't pleased. maybe once it's over ripe it might be passable, but i kinda doubt it.. oh well..

Tentative harvest calendar:
I2 - March 13
I3 - March 13
I4 - April 10
IM - May 2
SC1 - April 4
shorties 1-4 - May 7

this is based on my experience with the particular strains and the information given by the breeder, whom im not sure if im going to deal with anymore. they are in works on a deal with big-pharma to develop strains for their labs to base synthesis of pharmaseudicals (sp). this is particularily worrying for me..
:joint:

story time!
last week i was very fortunate to be asked to help a friend trim his medicinal crop. 10 plants. 6-ice and 4-super crystal. three of us trimmed for about 8 hours. and ended up with, what looks to my eyes, about 4lbs. i wish i had had my camera, there was once top on the ice that was mind blowing. purple like it was going out of style! haha. there was probably 7-10 grams of scissor hash between the 3 of us and my hands were so sticky, i couldn't even open them haha. good times.

lots of celebrations over the last couple weekends. a couple birthday parties and plenty of grass. this time off gave me the freedom to do some thinking too. and i painted and drew for the first time in over a decade! considering i havn't reached 25 yet, that's pretty major to me. i'm looking forward to exploring this new me. i'll probably even make mention of it in my blog..

take care all!

Re: news's buds and breeding.

thanks man. i can't wait till next weekend. mmmmm buds!

Re: news's buds and breeding.

hey hey. took down one plant the other day. 8 main tops and 5 side branches. i figure she'll come in at about an oz. and that's fine. next plant comes down on friday the 19th. this should give me a better idea of the optimum point of ripeness.

i built a new veg room with way more room. close to triple the space. it's already almost filled. i've got 9 ice clones all rooted and happy. i've got one widow seedling, growing happily. i've got a couple mazar, ice and super crystal clones that should be rooted by now.
a little bit of spidermite damage and infestation, but nothing i can't handle.

Re: news's buds and breeding.

17 small Ice
1 seedling widow
2 small mazar
2 small super crystal
1 small hindu kush male
13 ice clones
1 ice mother, bush shape
1 mazar mother, bush shape
2.5 ice flowering
2 super crystal flowering
4 mini ice flowering.

harvested 53.4g from the first Ice. cut half the second ice down and the rest next week.

good times 'round these parts, mostly.

Re: news's buds and breeding.

Aberration, Setting Sun, Butcher.... Thanks for all the support guys. I don't get a lot of traffic thru this journal, but the traffic i do get is top notch everytime.

and so i'm here to say thank you very much!

also i have some new additions to the family. i haven't checked in a day and a half, but when i did, i had 2 Purple Wreck seeds cracked and 2 Blue Widow seeds cracked. out of 4 BW, 2 PW and 2 Early seeds.
Also, my cousin had a little boy. 6lb 12oz. the little guy and his mom are doing fine.

my family just keeps getting bigger and bigger.

Re: news's buds and breeding.

ANYTIME BROTHER, ANYTIME..SOunds like the variety you got going is going to be KILLER to say the least. The Purple wreck is regular yeah? So breeding possibility? I'd like ot see what the blue widow crossed P.W would come out. Sounds like your having fun and congrats on the new addition. Nothing better then a nice big family.
