Hello!
I don't post here regularly but I always cruise the new posts/solutions in the FAQ section... Anyway, here's my solution to my struggles with over-watering. This is my second grow with a new batch of clones, in a different soil mix, in different containers from what I had in my first grow. It was literally learning to water all over again with the same problem of over watering. So this time I came up with the idea of using a cheap scale to back-up symptoms of under watering.
(I would circle the weight when it started showing symptoms of under watering, I would then
water and watched what happened)
Every day, I would weigh each plant until it showed some symptoms of under watering. I would then water and watch to make sure the plant would perk back up within an hour or two. So, aside from the small amount of weight added for plant growth, I can water when I believe the plant is about to start showing signs of under watering (which would be back-up by regular weighing data). Well, I've actually witnessed under watering symptoms disappear twice when the plant+pot weighed 188 to 189 grams. So next time I'll water when it weighs around 195 grams.
Anyone have any thoughts? I figured I would use this system till I can figure out the needs of each individual plant.
