When will my 6 week plant start to show bud?

You decide when flower, not indoors nature. Just remember that the girl can grow 1-2x bigger when flowering. To start to flower she needs at least 12 hours of darkness. As most above have said a 12/12 schedule seems to be what most use, including myself.
So look at your space and decide from there; remembering to add your light/s into the equation.
 
If you want to double or triple your yield, let them veg till they are 2 - 4 months old, if you have the room. Once the branches start forming nodes in an alternate pattern (instead of in pairs), the plant is mature and ready to bloom under 12/12. If they are too young, they will take longer to bloom.

That's in MY experience, growing ornamentals, garden veggies, and cannibus.
