When ever I start a backup seed it usually guarantees the seed in question will pop.

Ok...i just dropped two more seeds in water and I did it right in front of the two seeds that aren't cooperating. Test underway.Hope my wife don't see that post.

Hey did the case fall off that seed yet? If it's the same thing that I have happened a few times where the case didnt pop off.
I've used tweezers and a magnifying glass to slowly peel it off.
I figured if its gonna be a waste might as try to save her...

I took it off a couple of hours ago...that is what it was though.

Yeah, happens more with autos than photoperiod for me I noticed... Hopefully she's viable and you get some decent smoke out of her... good luck!
Try planting a little deeper next time that usually takes care of helmet head but it does happen. Make sure that you get the membrane under the seed husk off aswell sometimes it will stay on when you remove the husk.

These are the 3 green crack seedlings. The other two are my back ups that haven't popped thru yet. The 3 up are stretching even with 1000 watts on them. Light is about 4 feet above. Didnt want to fry the girls but now I'm thinking drop the light.

I would lower it a bit keeping a close eye for any adverse reactions from them. That's why MH is better for veg the blue light promotes closer node growth and Less streching than the red spectrum that HPS produces. It will work though I have done it lots but mostly with clones that are a bit more hardy than a seedling.
Also when you up pot you can plant them deeper to burry some of that stem.

I planted in my final pot.
Then just try and find the sweet spot for light height.
You still have at least another 1½" of dirt you could put in there, so bury them now! I think they might just be stretchy by nature. I've had stretchy sprouts and they're out in the sun!

I have experienced all of the above conversations! shedgrow I have four Gelato plants
about ready for Harvest and I need an honest smoke report from a trusted grower "YOU"!!
I let my grow tall and mean some 53" above soil in 7 gal pots; 15+ inch colas. Pics below.
Oh have a cookie! Snicker Doodle made with canabutter!
