Well, and a lot of peeps probably just want to grow their own meds without having to set anything up as complicated as an air-cooled HID setup.

We do this stuff without thinking twice and it's a labor of love for us, but the tech can be very intimidating for lots of folks.

Far out!!! Nailed it on so many levels. As a noob to making my own meds the unlimited amount of information @ 420 can be overwhelming, because there are so many different opinions on here from very good growers, finding the answer you want can sometimes be hard. I think sometimes we all just have to take a leap of faith and learn the best way........ By our mistakes!!! (Lol first grow for me is nearly finished and ive got 5 foot tall monsters with nice colas but the rest is popcorn........oops!!)

Sorry its a little of track but SS do you know how much temperature reduction can be achieved by having one of those air cooled hoods / reflectors?

Very nice pics Irish, have u spotted any amber trics yet?

Irish, I have been lurking from the beginning, you've inspired me to lay down the money and see what can be done. I thought I should register and give thanks. I may do a journal, but not sure yet. Will be first time with LED, in fact first time with anything other than CFLs. Here's hoping. =)

I too am waiting on a reply from mike, maybe he's away or busy making orders. I am holding my breath, should be ready soon. =D

ya their some amber on the higher tops still needs to be a little more down low. they should be perfect next week.

ya 1000w of leds and hempy buckets most likely. it will be three 300w lights all side by side with 6 plants. ill try to get the XJ-13's agian

i was told by Mike he has a hard time keeping his lights in stock once he gets them their already sold, then the china mean lag and take forever to make more. so i am sure thats why? IDK?

1. Why would the Chinese need to break the glass instead of simply not installing it?

2. The panels will come with the glass and it will be up to the customer if they want to remove it or have me remove it prior to sipping.

Does not having the glass increase the risk of exposure to eyes or skin at all?

Do your lights have any IR LED's?

5 foot tall monsters with nice colas sounds like a pretty good finish for your first grow .

Yep, at some point you just have to jump in and start making your own mistakes, but it really helps to do some research, read grow journals, and ask questions before taking the plunge.

There's just too many variables involved to come up with a number. Ambient temps, grow light wattage, grow space design, fan cfm rating, filtration, etc.

It's a very significant reduction, however, when set up properly.

I may have some numbers soon if I have to air-cool my 400w HID tent.

It probably dose? i remember when their way a time the led light way so bright i could barely go into my room without glasses. now the lights dont even bother me. i just always look down and not at the light. their is IR in his lights, he was talking about it a while back, dont know how much or any NM thing like that. but he did say he uses IR

The IR led's in Mikes lights should be around 730/740nm...

On another note.... UV is very dangerous, BUT I'm quite sure those LED light don't contain UV light.. UV led's are super expensive

Yes I use IR and near UV at around 380nm to 400nm

Interestingly, the HGL lights do have some IR leds to *add* radiant heat, in the belief that this improves things.

I have a panel of 10 one watt IR 730nm led's. This is what I found! The IR led's give off no heat at all...SS I'm glad you brought up HGL saying that IR led's add heat to the grow area... From what I can tell, they add less heat to the grow area then say a red 660nm led. I can't even see the IR led's on, plus when I touch them they feel cool to the touch...

From what I can tell IR led's trick the plant into thinking they are getting Radiant Heat when it's not actually getting the (heat). When our favorite girls see 730nm they think it's heat. Anyone care to add to this?

At this stage, How do you compare them to HiD Grown Buds etc in your mind...

if you look threw my pic i have tons of pics with beer bottles and water bottles. ill put something next to them when i take some newer pics next time. they look like HPS buds to me. nice and tight buds very dense, just not as big as my 1000w hps of course. ive never used the lower watt hid so its hard to say. but if i didn't see the light i wouldn't have known they were not grown under hid, if it were someones else's grow..
the only way we are gonna know if they are better or equal to HID is when the side x side test start. its imposable to compare two different growers and environments, the side x side will be the best way to judge. i for one cant wait for that test to start. thats all i need to see.
