Becca Takes A Big SIP

Thanks

Woo Hoo! :hippy:

I hope I can grow it out, too, Absorber. It's showing another abnormality this morning. There appears to be a branch forming at the junction of one of the cotyledons and the main stem. I've never seen that before. One of the new leaves forming today has odd "ripples" between 2 blades. Oh, and more female preflowers at node 6 so it's pretty certain she's female.
Any pictures of the extra branch 🤔

It's too small yet even for the macro mode on my phone camera, so I was going to just keep an eye on it with a Loupe for a few more days then get a pic.
Wow, how did I miss this thread. Very interested to watch this one. @BeccaBuds you use a lot of the same nutes/soils, so it’s great to get to see how this goes, more knowledge!
I didn't send out any invites. I'm pretty much an amatuer at this social media thing. For me there are just too many great growers journaling on 420Mag to keep up with them all! Did you see how I layered the Geoflora Veg into the planter when I loaded it with soil? Getting some epic growth now!

Res has dropped 2 oz or so since last night, will check it again later. Topsoil was getting a bit dry so I sprayed the surface with 100mL aqua to keep the microbes lively. Broke out the 30x loupe for a look at the funky cotyledon branch and tried to get a pic in macro mode. Still too small for macro but the loupe reveals it is indeed a branch forming. Funky!

Yea! About an inch a day right now, StoneOtter! A moment ago the dipstick read 0.25" so I added 25 fl. oz to bring the level to 1 inch. Looks like the 1" rope wicks are working as expected. It's plain to see now that that is indeed a branch forming where one of the cotyledons was, and now it looks like one is forming on the opposite side though still very tiny.

Today as of 2:00PM the res has 15/16" of water. The leaves are just getting huge. I lifted one of the foil reflectors atop the planter and found the soil is damp out toward the edge of the container but dryer around the plant. Observed a root 3" out from the main stem that had grown up to the surface and deflected away just under the soil surface. Amazing- I've never seen root growth like this so close to the surface of the soil.

I get them using a compost mulch that I mist daily. Your foil seems Iike less work. :thumb:

While I don't normally like to do so, yesterday I decided to top the plant because it is getting so huge so fast. Topped it above the 8th node, so there are 10 growing tips forming now instead of one main tip. Removed the 6th node feeder leaves so the 4th node branches get more light. Dipstick reads 5/8" this morning.

Res was almost empty so I added a liter of water, dipstick now reads 1-1/8". Got rid of 4 more feeder leaves to expose the branches to more light. Spotted a ladybug in the tent! Tried to get a pic but couldn't get it to focus on the bug. Found more weird mutations on the plant after defoliating. The only remaining main feeder leaf has 3 "extra" blades like a second leaf is growing out of the center of the first. The other oddity is a third branch developing at the 5th node. The tiny little branches at the cotyledon node are still there but still very, very small.

Dipstick reads 7/8", no action needed. Plant is filling in after it's encounter with pruning shears, and looks very healthy. Weirdness continues- now a freak 3rd branch is forming at the 6th node. Just watching the weird 8th node leaf-in-leaf get bigger for now though it is shading a tip under it.

:Namaste: @StoneOtter Looks like I have another genetic oddity, and it's very dank for it's age. No carbon filter in the cacti tent though so going to have to watch that.
Dipstick down to 1/2" this evening. It's drinking a little slower until it fills back in. Color is a bit light so in the morning I'll add a liter of aqua with added cal/mag, half strength MaxiGro and Purpinator. Removed the weird double leaf so the branches under it could get more light. The weird branches are doing their weird branch thing...

Res was almost empty this afternoon, plant otherwise healthy. Mixed some nutrients with aqua for it in shown order:

1L purified water
2mL AN Sensi CalMag Xtra
766mg GH MaxiGro powder (stir until dissolved)
2mL Purpinator
12 drops pH Up

Solution measured 1.89mS ec, 1380ppm TDS, pH 6.3 w/ Hanna HI-9814. Reservoir reads 1-1/8" deep now. Also added a couple mL of The Jones Juice Just for Jollies.

They surprise me with little genetic shifts. It's fun to see. Nice growing!

Gees, let it go a couple days and BAM! She's gotten huge! Res is almost empty again and I think it's time to fill it. I added 5mL CalMag Xtra, 7.5mL Jones Juice, 7.5mL Purpinator and 1mL pH Up to a gallon of distilled water. The solution measured 0.81mS ec, 570 ppm TDS at pH 6.1. A couple of cacti and an agave got watered with the overflow.

Extra branches at 5th and 6th nodes and elsewhere.

Well, @Azimuth I think she has caught. She's even bigger today and yesterday, after filling the res, the dipstick read 3.8". Today at noon it read 2.75" so the soil wicked up 1/4 gallon or so just overnight. I am thinking about topping again to make more flowering sites, and flipping it in a week or two.
