Expanding coco?

First time buying coco-coir. This brick seems awfully small to expand to 3 cubic feet. Can anyone confirm that this will really become that much?

Also I don't have any totes free to store 22 gallons of the stuff. Can I chunk off 1/4 of it or less and throw it in a 5 gallon bucket and let it fluff up? I'm actually going to be using it for some really small hempy buckets so 5 gallons of it would be about perfect.

Yes, it expands to like 5x it's size (or more). I know that a 5g bucket of water isn't enough to hydrate a block of coir.

And yes, you can just break or saw a chunk off and use what you need. Make sure you give it a decent rinse.

Sweet, thanks for confirming that. I was skeptical at the packaging. That's pretty impressive! Only cost me $12... I may be snatching up more of this if it goes well for me.

take a saw and cut the block. An 11 lb block of Viagrow will fill four to five 5 gallon buckets with coco and perlite mix.
