First Grow - 3x3 Tent - 600 Watt MH/HPS Cooltube - Soil

Honestly, in a 3x3 tent, 1 or 2 plants is all you could really SCROG. More than that and you just don't have enough square footage. The good news is, now you know! Fail and learn, right?

One thing you could do to help - trim away everything below the screen. Help you avoid airflow problems below the screen, and keep your plants energy up top where you want it.

Just another reason for an upgrade to a 4x4 at some point. I think I am going to hold off on trimming up the undergrowth at all on this grow. Next grow I will, but start that proccess early on. As far as airflow I think I am good. I have a 6 inch 420? cfm inline I'm running and when lights are on I am running it at damn near full speed. And I have all 3 of the ventilation flaps open (8"x3" maybe? back and both sides of tent.) I have stuck my hand next to them, and can feel the fresh air sucking through, and those are way under the canopy. So I think it is drawing fresh under and up through the canopy. Things are green and looking healthy, so I figure don't fix what isn't broke type thing. This grow is entirelly for head stash, family, and a couple of poor friends that have problems paying for weed. So I figure all of the weak popcorn buds I will just give away to the needy. And so far at least the top buds sure don't look like they are struggling for water or nutes.

And you're right about that scrog in here. The plus side tho is even if it is no longer really separating the plants stalks. It is going to be some nice bit of support for the big colas if and when needed.

Well it is the beginning of week 3 of flowering (Day 15) And I have got to say it is looking good. Everything is green, and I see no problems so far. I am feeding full strength nutes, and not a sign of any burn that I can see. It almost makes me feel I could push the nutes higher, but I think I will stay where I'm at to be safe. It looks like I just need to sit back and let the girls put on some weight. Like Queen said, "Fat bottom girls make the world go round."

Well I am getting close to the half way point, and things are looking great! It is the beginning of week 4 (Day 22) and man these girls are champs! They have been taking full doses of Fox Farm nutes including Beastie Blooms at around 3/4 gallon each plant per feeding, twice a week with no signs of burn that I can see. (I water, feed, water, feed, etc.) Man these girls have put on some weight, on like a daily basis it seems. I get little kid like excited every morning at lights on to see what they look like. lol. I am super excited about the trich formations, I was under the immpression that they start toward the end of flowering, but man they are getting frosty already, even on the bigger leaves! THE WAIT IS KILLING ME!
Anyway here are some porn pics.

Thank You! Out of curiosity, what sativa traits are you seeing? The only difference I know between the two (not counting type of high) is sativas tend to be tall, and indicas tend to be short and bushy, correct?

Looking great! I would suggest in the future to do less number of plants for your grow space. Your 600 watt HPS can only produce 600 grams of bud if you have 1 plant or 6 plants! If you do less plants you get bigger colas and higher quality of bud with less sugar leaf. Great work and especially if its your first!

Gotcha Sonora thanks! And Hunter, 4 plants was way overkill. For some reason in my head I thought they would fit perfectly, but its a freaking jungle in there, and at times a bit hard to handle. There are 2 major things that I learned off this first grow. 1 the number of plants. Next time I might go 3 plants in a triangle and try to train towards the empty spots, if that fails I will go to 2 plants only and possibly veg for longer. 2 I am going to trim up the undergrowth. this grow I did not, and it is so thick down there now I am simply to afraid I will cut the wrong stalk (with that useless scrog in there a lot of stalks are going this way and that due to my poor scrog training) I had to go out and get a wand on a pump to water because I just can't get in there. Even now when watering the back plants I do it by touch, poking the wand around lightly till I can find the base of the trunk to water and not get it everywhere. But it's all good. learn by trying, and if these are my only problems, then I consider myself lucky.

Alright it was bugging me and the OCD would not let it go. I pulled the trigger and trimmed the hell out of the underbrush jungle. I know it was a little late into the grow, and a lot of trimming at one time, but I think the girls will handle it alright. They seem really forgiving and have given me no troubles at all in this grow. The front 2 plants got more of a trim than the back, I was to scared to trim much back there besides the obvious stuff. (hard to squeeze back there and hard to see what I'm trimming.) Anyway, wish me luck!

Well, it is the beginning of week 5 (Day 29) of flower and things are looking fantastic. I was worried that the colas were looking a bit on the skinny side considering the strain. Well I was wrong about that! The girls are just pounding on the weight now and continue greedily sucking up any nutes I give them. The trich formations are also starting to thicken up in a big way. Looking at other pics of this strain they dont seem to frost up to much, but by the looks of these girls I have no doubt they will have some decent frost at the end. They seem to have taken the massive defoliation like champs never showing the slightest bit of stress so far. (I was really worried about that)

Anyway, more bud porn. Right before lights on today.

Well it is the beginning of week 6 (Day 36) and things are looking good. The smell is really starting to stink. It reminds me of over ripe fruit that is just starting to rot. (but in a good way.) I have a few questions to ask about harvest times. This is supposed to be a 7-8 week strain and I was wondering when I should start to flush? As you can see the leaves have not started to yellow in the slightest (sign of ending lifespan right?) Secondly, how fast once it starts do the trichomes start to change color? I have a 60x pocket microscope on the way to keep an eye on them. So basiclly if I decide on a 2 week flush should I start now? that would be the end of week 7 for harvest. Or should I start 2 week flush at end of this week to harvest at end of week 8? The uber amount of green growth is just confusing me.

Anyway, more porn pics.
