Have lowered the EC in the APA res to about 1.0 in preparation for harvest. Leaves and calyxes continue to purple so I'll probably maintain that for a few more days.

Been another change of plan for my next run as more seeds are hopefully on their way courtesy of the nice people at ShortStuff who seem to like me growing their strains and posting photos about the place. Dr Feelgood is now current favourite for the res the APA is in but they're also sending Himalyain Blue Diesel which sounds like a wicked kush and diesel cross and might be closer in height to the other strains already started. Hmmm....choices, choices

Also found a tub of bud I didn't know I had. About a q of Mothers Finest I think but I'll leave that for an emergency as the APG is way nicer....really smooth and gets me melted. The smooth smoke and delicate but plasant flavours has been something all my smoking buddies have commented on so far.

Turns out HOD is a new strain but should be available from our friendly 420 magazine sponsoring seedbanks in time for the spring growing season. Hopefully it'll become available while I'm journaling it here in my next journal....DDA has straigtened up and is trying to fly straight but has had some issues, Candy Kush Auto is trying to pop her head up as we speak and I've just chopped the APA so as soon as I can get that NFT system cleaned out and refilled the sooner my next grow will be in full swing.

Purpling seemed most prevalent on the side of the buds the light was on. Might have went all the way round eventually but overall she was looking like she was ready to harvest so down she came.

Doubt I'll get anywhere near as much out of this as the last plant down but the buds are for the most part much firmer than I expected so hopefully it'll still be my 2nd biggest plant (~7.5oz off my first Violator Kush is now 2nd behind the ~12.5oz Auto Pink Grapefruit). 246.9g would give me 1g per watt for this grow with 2 autos so I guess that's the target.

Cheers guys Letting the res and root mass dry out overnight so it's less messy to sort tomorrow when I can get stuff downstairs to wash out.

The rockwool cubes for the HOD were already well soaked so I figured I might as well get a seed in.

My grows tend to start and end with the "pokey bit" out a Clipper lighter ....

Starting equipment; rockwool well soaked for a few days to pH 5.6 with about a quarter strength nutrient mix, seeds, something to make a wee hole with and a humidity dome:

Make hole in 1" cube:

Put seed in:

Cover over by fluffing the rockwool fibres over the seed:

And wait a few days

Should have it in it's own res soon but for now it can sit next to the Candy Kush Auto. I'm using an opaque rather than transparent humidity dome as I'm using a 600W dual spectrum HPS and it seems to keep temps under 30. The clear dome seemed to be OK under the shade of a flowering APG but as soon as I harvested that temps under the humidity dome shot up and if I opened the vents humidity dropped.

Hope to be able to get out and get a humidifier tomorrow too.

So I was a little worried about how the Auto Purple Amnesia was going to smoke since the tester bud tasted like shit but it seems to have turned out rather nice.

Still a little chewy in the grinder so a little grassy and sharp but real nice flavour beyond that.....and what a buzz! Almost pollen like in the way it hits the head fast and hard then fizzles out by the time you've got the next joint rolled. Should be fun trying to see how mashed I can get off this one!

Pleasantly surprised by that....721.1g from 2 autos under a 600w. Over 25oz in old money

The 3 tubs of Auto Purple Amnesia......not bad for messing up in several ways but done well that strain has the potential to yield twice what I got off it this run:

Dark Devil Auto behind but check the seedling on the right. That's the Candy Kush Auto and it's about a week old....I'm liking that one already The Himalaya Orange Diesel seed worked too.

How did you mess up? Thought everything went well with both plants. 25+ oz from 2 autos in approx 3 months is damn good.

Am looking at hopefully doing some photos if the mrs will let me - on the balcony. Have read that you can switch to 12/12 not long after they have sprouted (just a couple of weeks old) and force flower very early on. Will do in small pots so will keep them small and yeild approx an oz each. Should go from seed to harvest in approx 10 weeks, just need to cover with black bags every 12 hours. Hopefully they wont smell too strongly and we dont have much in the way of visitors for a good couple of months. Also need to find an outdoor site for my autos that i want to do.

How did you mess up?

Too early with bloom nutes although I doubt that made much odds, too much heat and too close to the light on a couple of tops, humidity way low (probably 20% ish), making the res too cold on at least one occasion and for much of the grow pH was over 6.

If I was to do APA again it would be in a bigger res to slow down the pH swinging up and I'd give it more space above ground too.

With both plants I had bigger buds towards the back of the room so I think that means I need to seal up the front of my room a bit better too.

Force flowering photos sounds like a hassle.....would it be easier to run a wee auto like Dr Feelgood? And if you get the seeds from ShortStuff Seeds Auto Dr.feelgood feminised (P1108) « Female Seeds you get a free mix pack for your outdoor grow.

I want to try some sort of greenhouse or polytunnel this year since rain and mould was such a problem last year.

APA weigh in pics...

Tall tubs weighed 210.9g:

341.6 - 210.9 = 130.7g

353.4 - 210.9 = 142.5g

Other tub weighed 132.9:

227.7 - 132.9 = 94.8g

130.7g + 142.5g + 94.8g = 368g.

A few Auto Purple Amnesia bud shots before this goes off to completed journals....

Seems to be pretty good stuff.....dunno what it tastes like but it's not hints of diesel like the APG. I should probably look up the genetic makeup for clues or something (Amnesia Haze?). Whatever it is, it's not an unfamiliar flavour and comes with a cracking buzz and if I keep hitting it I can get to the game over state without much trouble.

I'm glad I rolled the dice with a mix pack now

It not amnesia haze. That has a more distinct smell and stone to it. Am leaving it to cure another week before smoking some more. The bubble should be good in a month or so. Both are very mellow but smoking more of the pink grapefruit just now and the stone lingers. Once the purple amnesia cures a bit more it will be magic.

Mixed seeds are good but i think it better to know what you growing rather than guessing although pot luck can be interesting.
