One Plant Through My Perpetual Grow: Kerosene Krash - Seed To Smoke Report

Introduction - I have been growing since my state legalized in 2021. So, I have been growing continuously for about 18 months. The 1st plant of any kind I ever grew was cannabis. I still haven’t grown anything else. Someday…

There are a million ways to skin this cat, this is the way I Forest Gumped my way to surprisingly good bud!
My plants all come out of the tent daily. They are inspected, watered and rotated 90 degrees when placed back in the tent.

I invite my growmies @Trala @HashGirl @Bill284 @Grand Daddy Black @DV8 @Carcass and anyone else who might want to follow along.

Strain: Kerosene Krash from Dutch Passion. The most expensive seed I have ever purchased, $42.50 plus shipping for 1 autoflower seed! Will it be that much better than a $10 or $15 seed? Let’s find out!

SYSTEM AND ENVIRONMENT - I am currently using a 3 tent system in a spare bedroom in my house. A 2x4x5 tent with 2 dimmable 100 watt led lights for the sprouts to early veg stage. A 3x3x8 tent with a 350 watt dimmable led for my veg - harvest and a 2x2x4 tent for drying.

My plants stay in a fairly consistent temp and humidity on the cooler side, because my wife freezes me year round. But, with their led lights, my plants live between 68 - 75 degrees with humidity around 50% most of the year. I prefer

Day 1 Saturday October 22
Tools / equipment used - 3 gallon fabric pot, 2 gallon bucket, 5 gallon bucket, ph meter, tea strainer, measuring syringe, clear 8oz glass, 200 grit seed sander
Consumables used - coco coir w/30% perlite, mosquito bits, PH down, distilled water, 3% hydrogen peroxide (H2O2).
STEP 1 - Fill 2 gallon bucket, adjust ph to 6.0 - 6.5. Fill tea strainer 2/3 full of mosquito bits (they expand when wet). Hook onto bucket handle and let bits soak for 30 minutes or

While it soaks go to -
STEP 2 - Fill 8oz glass with distilled water, mix in 1 tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide. Using 200 grit sandpaper rolled into a tube. Place seed into tube (I always used the fattest seed that I have), cover both ends with thumb and finger. Shake vigorously for 30 seconds or so. Drop seed into water/H2O2 mixture and place in a dark area. Let soak approximately 24 hours.

STEP 3 - Fill 3 gallon fabric pot with coco/perlite. Place pot in 5 gallon bucket and pour mosquito bit water into coco. Pour to soak thoroughly. Leave to soak for 8 hours or so. This should kill any pests living in the grow media.
STEP 4 - After 8 hours, remove pot from mosquito bit soak and let drain in tub over night.

DAY 2 Sunday October 23
Consumables used - CAL/MAG, Recharge, paper towels
Tools / equipment used - plastic sandwich container

Step 1 -Fill 2 gallon bucket with water, add 1.5 times max strength of the recommended amount of your CAL/MAG product. Ph to a range between 5.8 - 6.2.

Step 2 - Place pot back into rinsed 5 gallon bucket. Pour CAL/MAG water to throughly soak coco. Let soak 8 hours to buffer your coco.

Step 3 - Add 1/16 teaspoon of Recharge to water/H2O2 where seed is soaking and stir in. Take a paper towel and place in sandwich container. Drop soaked seed to the middle of the paper towel and pour Recharge mixture over seed until towel is wet but not dripping. Wring out excess liquid then loosely cover container and place back into darkness.

Step 1 - Check seed to see if tap root has sprouted. If it has, go onto step 2, if not ensure the towel is still damp place back into darkness and wait another 12 - 24 hours before checking again.

This next step came from me being lazy and experimenting with planting in the final pot for 1 thing and then having full nutes from the beginning in that pot. It worked from the 1st plant on.

Step 2 - Take soaked 3 fabric pot and add 3 tablespoons of Grow Dots. Mix thoroughly. Find the center of your pot, measure a hole 1/2” deep. Using tweezers, drop seed, tap root down into hole and loosely cover with coco. Place in tent under light set at 100 par.

In the following days Water daily lightly using syringe with ph water 5.8 - 6.2. I vary the ph daily in this range. I have read that this helps certain nutrients absorb better.

Day 1 to me is when the cotyledons open fully and are pointing at the light. Day 1 is Thursday October 27 for Kerosene Krash. She will be watered using a syringe for the 1st 2 weeks and then she will be watered by measuring cup like all of my grown plants.

The Grow Dots cover the NPK for the life of the plant. Recharge weekly provides beneficial bacteria and fungi. Instant tea for your roots… I supplement these with weekly doses (I give my autos the lowest recommended dose of all supplements, not half doses) of CAL/MAG and silica on Monday, fulvic and humic acids on Thursdays and Recharge and kelp on Saturdays. Every other day of the week they are watered plain ph (5.8 - 6.2) water.

I have found the best way for me to water is by getting a sense of the weight of your pots. I have been using the same AC Infinity 3 gallon fabric pots for several grows now and I can feel when they need water. I do not water to run off. Usually now I find that most of my plants in 3 gallon pots take about a liter a day. This avoids runoff and waste. I prefer my plants to be 30” tall or shorter. Especially since I move them in and out of the tents daily.

Thanks for the tag, DeeBoy!

Great intro, with only one question left un-answered: :hmmmm:
Will it be that much better than a $10 or $15 seed?
I'll be following along while you answer that one!

Omg it’s not often I get cordially invited!

And when I do, I dress up babe!

LET THERE BE FLOWERS!

Looks like Trala’s flowers to me!

Great introduction, DB! And, thanks for the tag. I'm interested to know whether your expensive seed produces anything better than a lower priced seed.

I love that @Dutch Passion Seeds shows the terpenes in the strain info. I wish all seed companies did that.

Yeah me too. They are the oldest seed breeder that I have heard of and they came up with feminized seeds in the 1st place. I’m sure I will be sprouting several of their cultivars…

Came home from work Wednesday and KK had flopped over. Leaves too heavy for her little stem. Had to prop her up for now.
