Sunday Funday: My Rosin Cart Process

Hey 420mag,

I’m fairly new member to 420mag but long time lurker. I harvested my single Blueberry plant last week. She dried for about 7 days and jarred for two days. I thought this would be a good time to press and make some carts. Here is my process.

I filled qty 4 2x4” 120 micro The Press Club filter bags with 3.5 grams each in bottle tech style. I pressed them on a Dulytek DM800 at 220 degrees for 90 seconds.

I ended up with about 2.3g of Rosin. I mixed this in a shot glass with a ratio of .75ml of True Terpenes Viscosity for every gram of Rosin, about 1.7ml. I also added 3 drops of True Terpenes Blueberry Flavor.

I cook this terpene/rosin mixture on my electric stove top on the lowest setting for 10-12 minutes while constantly mixing. Once I feel like I have a nice consistency I run the mixture through a Syringe Filter (0.22um Pore Size, 33mm Membrane). I ended up with 2 full 1ml carts.

The part that confuses me a bit is getting the rosin thinned out - I guess this is the terpines - do I buy it, do I make it???
Is that the best way to get the rosin thinner??

I have found flavorless terpenes to be the best option without adding alcohol or other harsh chemicals. I prefer the True Terpenes Viscosity but there are other brands. I keep a bottle of flavorless and a drawer full of flavors. I’m still playing around with ratios..

Hey Man, me too! Just bought a magnetic stirrer hotplate. Should be delivered tomorrow along with those syringe filters. By the end of the week, I hope to be able to fill a cart. Will post photos when we do.

I was using wax liquidizer but tasted if chemicals. It's just terpenes in this that dilutes the wax?

Tried our first press with 5.09 grams of L.A. Confidential. We harvested this plant last Thursday and with the extremely dry conditions here +/-20%. Twigs are snapping and the buds are now in a jar with a 62% boveda pack. I don’t know what the rosin weighs so I can’t figure out the yield percentage. How in blue blazes do you get your rosin off the collection tool without getting it everywhere. Someone please comment.

I scrape it onto my silicone oil container. I just rub it on the sides so it comes off the metal and stays on the silicone. There will still be some on the scrapper.

So a half oz of flower got you two carts? I'm new to the concept of rosin, so if you don't mind me asking, how long do those two carts last you? I could get medicated with my dry herb vape about 93 times on a half oz, so I'm wondering how many times you can medicate with the two carts. Thanks!

I flower vape through a Pax3 too, I would say the cartridges last about 75% as long as my flower. This is not very scientific but I’ve never really considered the equivalence.

I prefer my carts for convenience and potency. I get tired of having to refill my Pax.

I’ll try to get a more accurate comparison on my next Carts.
