my first mothers were grown in fox farm and happy frog!

they did great! until pH lockout salt build up then they got back to growing great but got locked out once again..

is say chemical is a def no no in soil! grow organic!!.. and soil is not forgiving since you cant control what the plant eats.. you gotta feed the soil and then and only then ur plant feeds!
I am still a not a fan of defoliating.. i say it hurts the plant.. unless a fan leaf is that BIG of a deal where you absolutley need to take it.. then go ahead.. but why try and fix something that is not broken.. leaves are there for a reason and i believe dont only store food but make the whole process happen.. therefore taking it off slows something down and makes it work on something else... all i want it to do is flower and the non defoliated plants seem to thrive better!

idk.. still a work in progress.. others seem to have different outcomes... although mine is being done side by side

I feel you if you are not going to maximize the plant count to as much as possible the method of 2L is simply not worth it.. I would make bigger plants as well!

I am gonna be so backed up with clones soon I may just start to veg to get closer to that ounce off of each plant
but i am moving on into 4 inch square pots and ebb and flown' it up! 2L was a fun run tho!

I totally agree, if I were running 30-50 2L's and was doing this purely for production purposes it might be the way to go. But I'm not, I love this plant for the plant it is and to be able to push a single plant into producing as much as 30 of the little ones is what would get me off so to speak. I grew before I ever smoked weed, it's a passion that a lot of us I'm sure have. I'm with you 100% on the hydro, never doing anything else again ever!

Keep me updated on the process/progress, I'm a week behind you and following that schedule to a T. You think your master grower friend minds if I tag along for the learnin'? If not, please post updates to feeding etc. as you go!

I too am finding that the 2L DWC-H is becoming a PITA. Now that I've defoliated, they're not drinking very much (or transpiring) but the pH is going up into the high 7's in 24 hours. They're not drinking a ton so I'm just using pH down and watering ever two days and dumping the res every other feeding. Ugh. Since I vegged so long, the root balls are so big when I lift a plant from the res, it won't even fit back in because of the airstone.

Anyway, I want to switch over to dirt and high brix, but I don't want to experiment with my expensive seeds so for now I'm married to the 2L's

I'll keep you updated for sure.. My friend wouldn't mind one bit but he's not on this site for you to follow along directly. Ask any questions you want and he/I will give you an answer and I'll be sure to post everything I do step by step. I'm still hand watering from the top of my DWC with 900 ppm solution and 5.8 pH (one full 16 ounce cup). As I said above I won't do anything except hydro from now on, it's just not something that attracts me. I don't want to mix all these crazy teas and what not I just want to mix the nutes stick it in the bucket and keep everything right where it needs to be.. Not to mention get great yields.

I agree, I learned my lesson with defoliating. I'm not pulling anything unless it's dead and shriveled up, I don't care if it is blocking light from something. I'll have to come over tomorrow and check out what you are doing stay tuned for my new journal as well it's going to be good! Well no surprises, just my 6 sq/ft SCROG with this critical sensi star seedling I have going.

Yes I've seen his journals, cool stuff but again not really what I'm trying to do. I am watering 3x per day once in the morning, mid day, and at night. If you haven't I would mix up a 200-300 ppm solution of nutrients at 5.7 pH if your going to do hydro. Take your RR and dip it into the solution for 5-8 seconds every so often when it starts drying out. For me it was usually 2-3 times per day as well

Thank you the giesel finished up a few weeks ago, haven't smoked much. It's super strong but I'm more of an indica person it seems. My heart gets racey with sativas and my head thinks to much. The PK smokes amazing! The trichs are getting cloudy but all the pistils are still white in that pic, I think I'll start flushing fairly soon.

Cool cool, glad it's working out for you. It's near foolproof and works great. And yeah when I put it into the DWC on day 7 (maybe 8?) I bumped it t up to 900 ppm and then just hand feed 2-3 times a day.. I just play it by ear, if my temps get to hot I do 3 times but otherwise I want the roots to look for the moisture down in the res and I'll do twice a day. Wait to see what the roots look like around day 7 they just blow up, literally hundreds will happen over night.

Nice, they are starting to bust out all over the place now, one even has some long roots on it already the others only have short little guys everywhere. Soon to move to the 2L!

Nice are you going to go straight to 900-1000ppm? Mine is doing so good I can't believe how quick they grow from a seedling! Really cool to watch it from a seed though, much more satisfying for me then starting with someone else's clone!

Yup exactly the first day the shell was off I counted that as day one. I put mine in the DWC when the set with three blades was fairly large. The roots on mine just poked out everywhere but didn't grow long till i put them in the hydroton. I just got my first roots in the res today which was about 3 days I think. I'll have a new pic up in a minute. It's about 7" acrossed now.

Purple Kush harvest...

Ok just chopped both the Purple Kush plants down... 120 grams trimmed up so that's about the same as one of my WW plant lol with just two 2L's Pretty happy with that. The hydro one was about 75 grams and the smaller one (hempy) was 45 grams. Hopefully 1.2-1.5 ounces when it's dried, I was only hoping to get an ounce out of both of them together... So considering they together took up less then 1 sq/ft that's not bad? The middle bud on the first pic is longer then more forearm. Enjoy the last picture
