The 2nd Incarnation Of Big Mama

Morning all :)

Not a lot going on in the Celtic gardens the past couple days. While stretching the BM clone that's under the LED, I broke her main stem. I put a splint on her and will see how she recovers over the next few days.

Nights are getting quite cool here now so I moved the worm bin into the basement and collected about 5-6lbs of pure worm castings while I was at it. Some will get used for AACTs to feed the girls, the rest will go to soil amendments.

Now for some questions about strains. The seed bank I deal with (non-sponsor but better prices) has a promotion for free seeds. With the purchase of any MedMan Seeds packs, you get 5 free "Fruity Pebbles" seeds.

Anybody have any experiences with MedMan strains?

I am looking at their "Purple Pain Killer":

Purple pain killer. — og kush x purple afghani — definitive bc purple kush, — 9 weeks — very fuely from the og, full rich and powerful afghani odor as well. perfect blend. more body effect then just og. high cbd and thc. big yield, hard nugs, coffee, fuel, grapes, skunk. very strong pain killing body stone with some head to balance her out. world famous. it took 1st place the michigan medical cup 2012. beating out dna genetics.[/COLOR]

As you can see, the descriptions aren't great compared to other breeders and I have no idea what the genetics of the Fruity Pebbles are.
But at $50CDN for 13 reg seeds plus the 5 extra seeds, I am intrigued enough to try them :)

Just curious if anyone has experience with MedMan or these strains, did a search on here for them and came up empty handed LOL
or

Purple thai — the original northern lights #2 clone going back 30 plus years. also called purple northern lights, purple skunk etc. very old thai x very old afghani. 3rd place sativa ty expo 2014. the mother of probably 75% of all the most popuar and awared strains in the common era of breeding. big yield, big vigor, big white, purple leaves. very very pungent. 50-60 days

Found this post from Med-man for you Celt.

the purple pain killer
the real and original bc purple kush clone that came to me via a serious clone house crew dropped on the canadian market like an atomic bomb.

in my 20 years in the game, i have never seen a strain dominate the market for as long and for as much.

at one point pounds were 3500-3600 and ounces made it up to 350 in some parts at certain times of the season. those are 1990;s prices. unheard of in bc forever. even maple ridge kush is 3100-3300 year around, with a dry or saturated market.

i remember being in winnipeg for christmas in 07, and getting offers of 125 per quarter ounce, kicking off an insane kush craze in the praries.

before it made it to bc, and got basterdized and or selfed and regrown, it was an og kush x purple afghani. i have the original cut, not the weaker s1's and imitations from surrey, maple ridge and elsewhere.

she is cropped on the regular by many folks at 45 days, and turns out night and day to 60 days and 70 days. respectfully.

her smell is grapes, coffee, road kill, earth and fuel, especially on the stalk, the fuel smell is powerfull.

her effect has more body then just an og kush, due to the afghani parentage in the cross. which also bumps yield and hastens cropping for select people who prefer her @ 42-56 days. especially in rockwool.

taste is a bit dryer then the smell, but almost as rich and full if grow organically as i recommend.

i have used 4 males to out-cross her with.

mk ultra, med-mans head-band, tahoe og kush and an og kush from seed from cali.

i chose the best one and am done my bx2's. time to ibl. it wont take long. all the bx1's were 75% ppk when germed, and wasnt hard to choose good selections even in veg.

this will be the purest purple kush available to my knowledge once completed. reatining everything the mother elite has, plus vigor from seed.

watch out for too high ppm and humidity. afghanicas dont like soggy mediums either.

med-man

he says Fruity pebbles is tahoe og kush x skunk #1 60 day flower.

Todays escapades

I decided I needed to bring in one of this years outdoor pots and break it down so I can re-amend the soil. Near time to choose my 2 mother plants and up pot them :)

and the soil after amending with 3 qts worm castings and 3 qts of worm compost

Hey TheCelt (or do I call you Robert now?) One thing that just struck me is that the amended soil looks like it has had some water added and I remember seeing this mentioned elsewhere too. Is it possible to add amendments without water? Only I've had my soil and amendments sat here for two weeks without any and I couldn't feel it cooking, please don't tell me that I've missed something so basic lol. All the best :thumb:

It really depends on your amendment Kraize :)

If its something like alfalfa meal, used coffee grounds or other organic matter that is "green" and is going to decompose, it will generate heat and need a certain level of moisture to do so.

If its things like worm castings, bone meal, blood meal etc, these things don't really decompose, they are broken down by micro organisms in the soil as above, but in a different way that really doesn't generate much heat and become available to the plants quite quickly.

The biggest reason for cooking, is the heat generated and the fact that while its generating heat while its decomposing and using nitrogen in the process, this makes the nitrogen unavailable to your plant during this process.

A quick and dirty way to determine if something needs to "cook" would be to consider whether or not it would dissolve in water. If it will, then it can be added without cooking, if it won't its going to generate heat and need cooked.

Welcome to my little corner Cy :) Not alot going on recently, a couple of the clones were put into flower but early still and not much change LOL The rest are just chilling under the CFLs until I get things reorganized in the basement so I can build a larger area to house my grow :)

Subscribed Mr. Celt.

Knock, knock.
Subbed. :nomo:

I've only been away for a few short weeks and I see that there is now a "thank" button and my old pal TheCelt is now a moderator. Do I now need to call you Mister Robert or Mister Celt? :)

J/K. Congratulations buddy.
