This right here is the beginning of my new grow!
:thumb:
I'm pretty excited because my last couple attempts have been less than satisfying and I feel that I have been focusing on the wrong things on my last couple of grows. This past summer I grew outdoors to save electricity and because of that heat! xC While growing I learned a lot about the flowering process as well as the veg stage, before I wasn't sure about transition nutrients and when to begin the bloom stage. Because of this I received a low yield yet it was quality buds. I think I know what to look for with these babies so this time I think I'll pull something nice.
:thanks:
I plan on updating this journal at least twice a week with pictures and everything.

re: 5'x5' Soil Grow - 400w Veg & Mars 2 1600 For Flowering

What strain is it? MTG Seeds Turbo Diesel I got from a friend of mine, it's a second generation I took from a male that showed flowers really late but it had a great structure on the branches when growing. The bud of the mother plant was a really short plant that smelled like guava. It appears that the seeds are unstable as they are showing different traits, although that could be from the cross. I plan on growing with these seeds for my next few grows to see the variety of the traits this batch will create.
Is it Indica, Sativa or Hybrid? What percentages? I dunno the percentages, because the original Turbo Diesel is a Hybrid possibly with more sativa genetics. These plants appear to have two different leaf types.
Is it in Veg or Flower stage? Veg stage about 4 weeks for the big ones and 2 weeks or so for the smaller ones. it sure feels longer since I see them all the time. I had to replace my bulb so I feel I lost a week or so due to an inefficient light source.

Indoor or outdoor? Indoor 5' x 5' tent in a 4' x 4' kiddie pool to catch the water.
Soil or Hydro? Soil in plastic pots right now, I will be putting the bugger ones in two gallon fabric pots once they start gaining width.
If soil... what is in your mix? I dunno the mix, I think I actually got a cheap kellogs mix and strained all the little sticks from it, mixed in some old coco and perlite, then added compost mix and beneficials before sturring it and letting it sit for about three weeks. I used the sticks I strained from the soil as a top mulch. I feel that I will need more perlite as the soil still holds a fair amount of water for a day or two longer than I would like.
If soil... What size pot? The older ones are in #1 while the seedlings are enjoying the cup life.
Size of light? 400w MH right now for veg, during flower I'm swtiching on the Mars 2 and positioning it with the 400w hps light to make double power flower towers!
Is it aircooled? The hood has a fan blowing through the light right now, keeping it cool. I may run a vent through it for the flowering period and once the hot months come.
Temp of Room/cab? average hi/lo 82/63
RH of Room/cab? hi/lo 40/70 I don't like this much of a fluctuation but its because I have to fill my humidifier twice a day because I got a small one, sometimes I fill it a little late.
PH of media or res? I don't quite know the media PH or the runoff PH, but I PH the water at 6.5 and I use The sensi system to stabalize my PH
Any Pests ? An occasional gnat, I plan on taking care of them at the soil soon though.
How often are you watering? Every 5-6 days depending on the plants. I watered them 4 days apart on my last feeding, because I wanted to give them a microbe root drench.
Type and strength of ferts used? I want to use mostly organics, but I will be cheating during the flowering stage by using sensi bloom Ph perfect and overdrive. I use the sensi bloom as an all around fert because it stabalized the ph for me even at .25 of a ml each! I haven't seen anything bad happen because of it and my plants are as happy as can be.
I shall leave you with pictures of them as of a week ago. I will catch you up and show you the growth on my next update tonight. I gotta get all that I can out there, but I dont want to overwhelm everyone with large posts.

In the last picture they were recovering from stress due to a low humidity, I nursed them back slowly with clear humidity domes made from food containers. On the day of the pictures I just topped the healthy green ones and brought in the new humidifier. The date of those pictures were 12/4
Fast-forward to the Present!
12/9 the new growth has started to show!

I also started some seedlings on the 12/4 here are them popped out of the soil.

12/17 I replaced my bulb with a PlantMax 7200k MH I was originally using a solis-tek mh 4000k I got from cannabis cup last year, I used it for veg and transition and i just now noticed it hasn't been doing as good as I remembered so I Figured I'd change it to be safe. The next day I saw quite a bit of new growth and the temps cooled down too so I think I made a good call.

12/18 The plants Are showing great progress, I believe I gave them a douse of Molasses, plant success micro-organisms, 5ml ful power, .25 ml sensibloom A+B for PH, special worm tea, and 1 small scoop of marine cuisine for their roots. I bubbled it overnight before adding the sensi then I gave each about a cup and the smaller plants got a diluted amount.

re: 5'x5' Soil Grow - 400W Veg & Mars 2 1600 For Flowering

Today! I noticed some signs of overwatering so I will hold back for an extra day. Other than that the leaves look nice and healthy, the one that was yellow is all green and growing new tops. The three biggest have been topped a second time and tied down for some LST. I hope everyone is having a great weekend! Peace!

Sorry for the excessive bombardment of pictures. I like to have a lot so yall can see how I'm working.

Hey-o just to keep things interesting I shall share my previous indoor and this past outdoor grow.

These are the pictures I took when I started the Flushing of the plants. I was growing Louie 13th and cherry pie, I started the flower process a little too early and didn't give either strain a transition blend because of this each plant ran into deficiencies and early leaf loss. The nug quality in the end was fire and i really enjoyed smoking on both. Each held true to its lineage in flavor and quality.

I decided to do an outdoor grow this year because some trimmings that I mulched up sprouted several dozen seedlings. They sprouted mid December and grew throughout the year. There were a few interesting things that happened. First off several of them stared flowering in the early months and continued despite the daylight hours increasing. The Beast however re-vegged itself one-speed and continued growing with a monster amount of tops, too many for me to know what to do with. She eventually got too big for her own good an the soil strangled her to death during the hot months right before fall. The soil outside that they grew into seems to be mostly clay with a little bit of sandy texture. I feel it was too compact for my watering to soak into the deeper roots and she couldn't absorb any of my feedings.

I moved another plant to different parts of my yard to see if there was a quality spot where the sun hits it nicely to produce that top quality. In the end I cut early to save it from caterpillars. Although I noticed that the plant by my basil bush wasn't touch by a single critter. Enjoy the photos.

The Beast Growth!

I guess its time to Break The Silence :thumb:

Last week on the second day of the new year I come home and see that my big girls seemed to have halted completely with little leaves and everything. I was away for three days proir and I was planning on transplanting them into these 2gallon smart pots, but decided not to due to time constraints. When I transplanted these babies I found the rootball to be very dense and thick in some places almost like micro tubers. I fear this is the results of a long overdue transplant. So 11 including the big girls got new homes in the 2gal pots and 8 have been upgraded to the 1gal. I have 4 I plan on putting outside this year. The big girls are now looking quite nice but they still are showing signs of stress from being root bound and the transplant. I put them in new happyfrog ocean forest soil and gave them a tea blend consisting of worm tea from the worm farm, 5ml ful-power, 2ml cal-mag, 1tsp plant success soluble beneficials, and kelp extract w/ molasses brewed for 24hrs 6.5ph.

I'll have pictures uploaded tonight! :thanks:

EY! So yesterday wasn't the best day to upload photos but as promised here are the new pictures of the creatures.

First here are all of them before transplanting I think on 1/2 I thought they were looking a little strange at this time so I decided they needed more room

I noticed what appeared to be early cal/mag deficiencies so I gave them a 3ml boost in their watering yesterday of molasses, plant success, superthrive, fulvex, and ful power.

heres what they looked like yesterday

EY-O! Back for a quick update, so for my vegging stage I went particularly on a dry Organic based nutrient that would also give the roots a microbe boost as well. I got HF all purpose 5-5-5 because it seemed to have all that the plants would need as far as base nutes. I gave all my plants a medium watering with the all purpose mixed in and tied them all down for some LST to keep them from getting too tall. Now with that in mind I also don't want to lose room in my tent or overcrowd them so I am picking which ones I want to focus on indoors based on basic pheno observations since they are all the same strain ( Stem growth, Leaf size/Shape, Stretching, Smells/terps, Finally Flowering time).
This is the first time I have been taking this seriously to breed a nice personal strain that matches my attitude. :thumb:
All Plants are over a month old with the big ones being maybe 2 Months given that they had a rough start.

Now to discuss my plans for these babies.

The plan is to grow these little ones to about a 1ft tall and plant them outside on the 31st of this month for a spring harvest. Each plant will be transplanted to a 5 gallon bucket for a nice stretch. When they are sexed and the flowering cycle begins, I will take two cuttings each and document the flowering growths for each and keep/cross the clones from my favorites outdoor. I use the outdoors as a test to see how each grow and flower.

I figure it would be easy to control my plants and keep them on a 10/14 flowering cycle for spring. although when I did it last year I kinda just let them be and I had Harvest during early April except for the beast which reverted to vegetative growth and kept growing all through May and June.

I will keep a selected amount to focus in the 5x5 until its filled and I can begin flowering in there. Hopefully by then the clones are rooted and will be residing in my shed tent.

What was the yield on the outdoor monster? That looked huge!

Ahh The Beast never made it to Finish. It seemed like the soil it was in wouldn't absorb any water I would try to give it. I put in pvc around the root base as a direct water source but the soil itself wouldn't drink, I believe that's caused by a high clay content in the soil. A last heat wave was the final straw and I chopped it down to make hash. Tasted amazing Just like fresh-guava. I estimate i would have gotten 2+ Lbs from it if it finished. It got to be 5ft all the way around. Oh well I got a couple ounces of hash from it to keep me going.

And We Keep Trudging Along Here!

This morning the little ones got a nice watering of plant success, 10 ml of fulvex, 10 ml ful-power, 8ml verde, 2ml root booster, 8ml of sensizym, seaweed extract, and a splash of molasses. I took out the four remaining little plants and put them outside to see what they would do with their lives. I have them a home in a giant buried tub and a nice humidity dome, they are growing with some tomato and cat grass companions. We shall see how they perform in the future.

Here are some pictures of all the plants. I will be posting pictures in smaller increments to avoid overwhelming anyone that checks it out.
